Skyline: Fireworks explode over the skyline.Plot: Niles and Daphne have run off in the Winnebago but eventually decide to go back and face the music. They tell Donny and Mel that they are in love and want to be together. Niles later makes bookings at a fine club for them to go dancing that evening - their "first date". Later, when Roz is helping Daphne send back the wedding gifts (and stopping Simon take them), Daphne gets a bunch of flowers from Donny - together with a note saying he's going to sue her for breach of contract!!! Niles also gets a call from Mel, and they agree to meet in Café Nervosa. Frasier goes to see Donny to see if he can persuade him to drop the lawsuit. He almost succeeds - but then accidentally reveals how he helped them get together. Furious, Donny adds Frasier to the lawsuit. Meanwhile Mel has agreed to give Niles his divorce - on one condition. He has to pretend to be her husband for a few weeks so she can escape with her dignity intact. He agrees - and then finds out that some of Mel's friends arranged a wedding reception that night. The first date has to be postponed for 24 hours. At the reception Niles overacts being the happy husband, but only Frasier, Martin and Mel realise. Mel tells Frasier that she's had a little chat with Donny, and makes Frasier toast the happy couple. He does - but in a way in that he means Niles and Daphne, though to everyone else it sounds like a toast to Niles and Mel. Mel also tells Niles that until the divorce, he and Daphne are not to be seen in public. Daphne doesn't take this news well and has a huge argument with Niles, who then argues with Frasier. Niles storms out and Daphne goes to her room. Later she apologises to Frasier and he decides to take her out for dinner to cheer her up. Later that evening Niles and Martin are going to a museum, but Martin accidentally presses the up button on the elevator. They arrive at the roof of the Elliot Bay Towers, where Niles finds that Frasier and Martin have arranged a romantic meal for them on the roof. Niles and Daphne finally get their first date dancing under the stars.
