166 "And The Dish Ran Away With The Spoon"

Cut Scenes

  • A whole bunch of lines where cut in the first scene in Frasier's apartment about Simon hitting on Roz's elderly neighbour, who's apparently "in a remarkable physical condition for a woman her age".
  • Daphne and Martin's conversation about muffins is a lot longer with Martin telling her that tomorrow is cereal day and then it's Bagel day.
  • Frasier and Donny's conversation was a lot longer in the script and included a lot of line changes and a speech from Donny in which he says: "You don't know me. No one knows me, especially Daphne Moon. Because if she did, she never would have run out on me. She's gonna pay, Fras, that's all I have left."
  • Mel and Niles' meeting was a lot longer too. Niles said to Mel, "You probably hate me" and Mel replied "I wouldn't say that. I defiantly hate you." Also Mel and Niles' engagement notice appeared in the society pages.
  • Lots of scenes where cut from the fake reception including the really funny scene with Roz in a bad mood, which isn't in the script. Instead she just enters and say "Congratulations you two. God this is so weird...but I guess you would know that". Niles can't believe she came - "You don't even like me" to which she replies, "What can I say. I'm a sucker for freak shows."
  • A lot of Frasier speech was changed during filming it also includes the line "Dad will be the first to tell you she gives a mean back rub."

Major Dialogue Changes

  • In the Winnebago at the very start quite a few lines where cut including Niles saying "I just keep picturing all those people back there....wondering....Maybe we-" and Daphne asking why he always carries his "bloody" cellphone around with him.
  • There's a line where Martin thinks there was curry in the crab cakes.
  • A line was cut after Daphne says she wish she hadn't told Donny in the rock garden. Martin comments, "At least the bird bath slowed him down."
  • Apparently according to a cut line from Frasier, Martin's Winnebago has a bumper sticker - "Watch My Rear End Not Hers." Martin thinks it's even funnier when you're behind it.
  • After Daphne's brothers moon the car. Martin's line in the script was "Tell you one thing, I'm not cleaning that window" was replaced with Frasier's "Living up to the Moon family name I see."
  • A line in which Simon says if he didn't help Daphne he wouldn't be able to look himself in the mirror "which would make shaving a slight more dangerous." He also reveals that he is older than Daphne.
  • Niles has a line "but I do like a little sweet now and then" before he kisses Daphne which is replaced with the line "and two lips" in the aired version.
  • A silly little thing: in the script is say that Martin dropped a kiwi tart instead of a Prune Danish in Café Nervosa.
  • When Niles tells Daphne that the reception will be over by 11pm Martin says he hopes so - "I'm not missing Sports Centre for something that stupid."
  • In the script Niles' last attempt at a pet name for Daphne is "tadpole."
  • Frasier compares Niles' overacting at the reception to his Prep School production of The Sound of Music, which Martin had to walk out on.
  • The photographer at the reception has an extra line in the script. "Come on, smile. You've got the rest of your lives to make each other miserable."
  • Martin complains about the price of beer at the reception saying that a $20 bill only buys him a beer and a half.
  • Niles comments on how the only thing that got him though the reception was the though of Daphne "and 4 brandy Alexanders" .

Cast/Character Changes

  • Adrienne (the lady Mel introduces Niles to at the reception) is given a line in the script. She's played by Karen Kondazian.
