104 "Perspectives On Christmas"

Cut Scenes

  • After Daphne asks Martin about Eddie and the church, there was a little bit cut where she asks him if he has any idea about this, and does he think it's strange?
  • Just before the practise starts, there was a little scene cut where Niles suggests Martin learn to control his throat. Frasier disagrees and they have one of their overlapping fight. :-)
  • Just before we see Daphne with the masseur, there was short scene cut where we saw Martin with him again. The masseur asks how Martin ended up doing, but Martin's neck tenses up again.
  • There was a scene cut where Niles drops his keys, and Daphne picks them up for him - by bending over. She doesn't know anyone who loses his keys like Niles!
  • After Frasier and Niles leave, Daphne says it's time for Martin to his exercise, but offers to play cribbage with him and have beer instead.
  • A extra bit of dialogue in the script revealed that Albert and his wife (named Jane in the script) are going to Florida in 3 days time. Jane calls Albert "Mr Doom and Gloom".
  • When the masseur is talking to Roz, he says everyone pouts on weight at this time of year, and Roz says she's not dropping this "until the middle of May".
  • Niles and Roz's little confrontation in Cafe Nervosa went on for a little bit longer, with Roz having a slight mood swing and Niles commenting on how her "hormone cocktail was mixed extra strong today". The line about it "being a crack at your table manners" was not in the script.
  • In the script was a small scene where Roz steals Frasier's cheesecake.
  • A bit of conversation where Roz fears her mother will go insane after hearing of the pregnancy was cut.
  • Frasier also asks Roz if she put any padding into her costume, causing her to glare at him.
  • A little scene was cut where Roz tells Sally not to tell Santa (Frasier) if she was good, because he'll "blab it to everyone".
  • After Roz tries to leave after giving Frasier his presents, a cut scene had Roz saying "Just give me my present and I'll get out here", to which Frasier agrees.

Major Dialogue Changes

  • The subtitle "A Room With Four Views" was "Master Class" in the script.
  • Frasier's line about walking Eddie yesterday is said slightly differently - same words, different order.
  • Martin's "Why?" after Frasier asks him about drinking the eggnog was not in the script.
  • Frasier says "Sorry Dad" in the script, but "Are you alright, Dad?" in the show, to which Martin says he is.
  • When Martin tells Frasier about the pageant, Frasier's "Is there is point to this story.....?" line in the show was about Frasier feeling sympathy for Dutch Gansvort but still not knowing why he is being told all this.
  • When Frasier says Martin is a good singer, in the script Martin says the kid playing the Angel Gabriel "laughed so hard he wet his cloud" first time Martin sang. In the show this was replaced with the line about Martin "belting out What's New Pussycat?".
  • Frasier's explanation of the vocal exercise is worded slightly differently.
  • A line was cut after the vocal exercise where Frasier says "We're just trying to help".
  • Frasier's encouragement whilst Martin sings is slightly different in the beginning and he interrupts Martin's song at slightly different places. After Martin again misses the note, Frasier says "That was better".
  • After Daphne says Martin should open his gift now, in the script Martin says he could do with some cheering up. Daphne offers to talk about whatever's bothering him, but Martin says no thanks. In the show, Martin says he's on his way out, causing Daphne to cry.
  • When Martin gets his sweater, in the show he says he can "die a happy man now". In the script he says "they'll have to bury me in it!".
  • A tiny bit was cut where Martin says it will be embarrassing in the church.
  • Martin's "Daphne, don't do that!" was "Hey watch it!" in the script.
  • When Martin notices Niles stagger in, in the script he asks Niles if he was OK.
  • Niles says "sap out of virgin wool" in the script but "sap out of silk" in the show.
  • Niles tells Albert to "shut up" in the script, although I think that might be a misprint. It is probably Jane saying that, but they printed Niles by mistake. It could be Niles saying it though.
  • Niles utters a few "Ows!" whilst climbing the tree.
  • Only in the script does Niles tell the masseur that his father had gone to his pageant.
  • Frasier told the parents at the mall that Mrs Claus (Roz) had been helping him make all the toys - a slightly longer version of what he said in the show.
  • Martin's tale of what happened at the pageant is a lot longer (and a lot funnier!) in the show.

Cast/Character Changes

  • The "Mother In Elevator" is called Doris, although in Season 7 she becomes Mrs Richman, and Albert's wife is named Jane in the script.
