David Lee says |
|
- Winner of the Humanitas Award, given out for uplifting stories about the human condition, about an ice-fishing trip with Frasier and his father. "A small story," says Lee. "About how difficult it is for parents and children to tell each other that they love them."

Cut Scenes |
|
- The subtitle "Roz Doyle & The Temple Of Doom" is not in the script.
- Right at the start of the episode was a whole cut scene involving a caller, Jake, who has problems "functioning in the real world". He thinks Frasier's advice means he has an interview to work on Frasier's show.
- A bit in the show but not in the script was when Frasier and Niles come into the apartment, and Frasier says he used to have similar problem with multiple personality patients saying their other personality had sent the cheque. The bit where Niles puts his hand in the fishing box was also not in the show.
- Only in the show does Martin act slightly surprised when Niles offers to go, and asks "Really? Are you sure?"
- There is a scene cut where Daphne asks Frasier if she can use his tub that afternoon for a "nice, hot long soak", and Frasier says she can as long as she doesn't block the drain with "salts and scents". When Martin comes in, he says the Thermos is for Niles. Daphne asks is this because he's driving, to which martin replies, "No, talking."
- When Niles arrives, Frasier says "You've got to be kidding" to him. When Niles shows Martin his shopping, the list also includes battery powered ear muffs and electric socks, and Martin says the hot buns "sound good enough to eat."
- After Frasier goes to get his things, a brief little scene showed Daphne and Eddie celebrating their weekend alone.
- At the start of the second act, the subtitle is "Fishing Cheek To Cheek" in the script and "Proof That Hell Really Does Freeze Over" in the show.
- In the script, Frasier says that he expected the cabin to be "Something rustic with hand made quilts, knotty pine furniture, maybe a floor...". He later says he understands that the Bed 'n' Bass "drove the Pike 'n' Pillow right out of business."
- A very funny scene in the script had Martin wishing Frasier and Niles had played catch more as kids, and Niles suggests maybe the keys are caught on the tackle. They all check - and Niles pulls up a big fish, which after scaring him escapes the hook and goes back into the water.
- Only in the show does Niles take a sherry glass out of his bag for some James Beam.
- After Frasier says "One more fact...", Niles starts saying another one and Frasier says, "OK, that's it!" in the show. This scene was not in the script.
- Only in the show does Martin ask what the second verse is, and Niles says he doesn't know, it's in Italian!
- The whole scene where Frasier asks Niles what he is doing there is quite different. Niles says Martin is "a great guy", and calls this out to Martin, who shouts back from outside, "Thanks!". The conversation between the brothers is also quite different before Frasier says why he is really there.
- When Martin comes back, there is a scene only in the show where Frasier tells him why he is there and Martin says "Oh jeez!" and asks them why they had to start thinking when he left. Frasier says to forget it, and Niles says another fish fact. From now on until the end, the scene has been vastly rewritten - it is a lot shorter in the script.

Major Dialogue Changes |
|
- When Frasier tries interrupting Roz at the beginning, he says "Do I...?" in the show, but "Uh Roz, is this...?" in the show.
- Roz admits in the script she isn't sure if she loves her boyfriend, but in the show she says she doesn't.
- At the end of the scene, Frasier says "...I wanted to help you? I take it back.". In the show, Roz says "Yeah?" between the two sentences.
- When Eddie is sniffing in the fishing box, Martin tells him to "Get away from there" in the script, but "Eddie, get out of there!" in the show.
- Martin's speech to Daphne about rancid fishboxes is slightly different in the script.
- In the script, the reason Duke can't go is because his wife has the flu - Martin asks "Is she OK?". In the show Duke has hurt his back. Martin also tells him to "Take care" in the script.
- When Martin looks at Frasier as if to say "You want to come?", in the script he also says "I would need to go with someone else..."
- Daphne's tale about her brothers' friends is different in the script - it is revealed they went to the Lake District and watching them made her feel "so feminine".
- In the script, Frasier says it is "very noble of" Niles, but in the show he says it is "quite a gesture".
- Martin calls Eddie "champ" in the script, "chief" in the show.
- Daphne tells Frasier "what a crusty old git your father is" but in the show she says "Dad" not "father".
- When Frasier says he feels bad after refusing to go on the trip, Martin says "Hey no problem" in the script and "Oh don't worry about it" in the show.
- Niles added "German Brown" into his list of fish in the lake in the script.
- After Niles loses the keys, Frasier says "We'll never make it through the night" in the script, but "This is just dandy!" in the show.
- When the ice starts to crack, Frasier says it is like "an enormous hungry animal"
- When the brothers start singing operas, Martin comments that "at least it'll keep the bears away."
- In the end scene, the Ranger has a couple more lines in the show.
