1 "The Good Son"

Cut Scenes

  • Right at the start, just before we entered the radio station to see Frasier and Roz at work, there was a montage of callers with different problems, as different people in Seattle - a cabbie, housewife, jogger and a newstand owner listened to the show. Then we faded into Frasier and Roz.
  • When Niles says about Yoshi and the gravel garden, we only hear his voice as we see a bus with a KACL advert drive past. We then fade into Cafe Nervosa.
  • Frasier mentioned the time he and Martin took a road trip to Spokane and didn't say anything. This was cut from this episode, but re-appeared in Ep 21 "Travels With Martin".
  • After the delivery man leaves after dropping off Martin's Chair, Niles says Frasier should sit in it. Frasier responded by saying Niles was only like that to avoid Martin moving in with him.
  • Just before Daphne comes to the door, there is a quick montage of various other applicants being seen off by Frasier with comments like "I'm very impressed!" - however Martin didn't like them.
  • After Daphne confesses she's psychic, she turns to Martin and says "You must be very proud of your son the psychiatrist." Martin replies he has "two sons, two shrinks" and says that Hester was one too. He goes on to say he couldn't "scratch [my]self without being analysed."

Major Dialogue Changes

  • Russell's call lasts a bit longer - he says he's been depressed for the past "7 or 8 years".
  • Frasier's "Six months ago I was living in Boston" speech was also longer - he says he thought he "could look past [Lilith's] indiscretion".
  • Frasier tells Niles he'll make up the "guest room" for Martin in the script, on the show he says "spare bedroom".
  • After Frasier gives Niles the opera tickets, Niles mutters "Die Fledermaus. Oh well, they're free."
  • When Niles tells Frasier about the home care workers, Frasier responds with "the last thing I need is someone else under foot."
  • When Frasier comes back to the radio studio after his "bathroom break", Roz says "Who stole the seat off your bicycle?" - on the show, she said "What's eating you?"
  • Not quite a dialogue change, but during the end, as Frasier gives his advice to Claire, we see Frasier and his new "family" sitting down watching TV whilst Frasier's voice acts like a narrator. In the show, we stayed at KACL all the time and the scene in the apartment was shown during the credits.

Cast/Character Changes

  • In the scripts book, the voiceovers for Russell and Claire were Jeremy Lawrence and Mimi Savage.
