Liberal Arts: Politics

(New Site)

No, I'm (Sal) not a democrat, nor a republican, nor an independent party member, but a citizen of America doing my best to prevent division in our nation to better work together for the next generation and the world!

Getting involved with politics-government and want to serve God? I have friends who say that the "church" is not doing enough to make a difference, so they get involve with politics to do so... Well, they can! However, whether you are making a difference in the "church" or "politics"-you can do so much because you need God! Is he #1 in whatever agenda you do-that's what it means when you asked Him to be Lord of your life, right? Do you know what making Jesus Lord of your life is? Check this out=>personal relationship story!

Next, not many people know that they can "serve" God whereever they are. You don't have to stand in a pulpit to "preach". In fact "preach as less words and do it with more action" (St. Francis) through your lifestyle! We have too many "politicians" and "Christians too" talk the talk, but not walk the walk! "You must be the change the world see before you can make a difference" (Mahatma Ghandi?) Many politicans are getting a "bad wrapped" because of being found guilty of some scandals:

-Richard Nixon in Watergate
-Bill Clinton in the "Monica Lewinsky Affair"
-the list goes on....

6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, [2] Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.-Isaiah 9

Campaign 2008 Road to Elections

The Saddleback Forum Introduction

"Saddleback Pastor Rick Warren recently had the opportunity to sit down with Presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama, to ask them some questions that might not usually be asked. For the whole interview, go to www.GodTube.com/SaddlebackForum!"

  • Presumed Presidential Nominees McCain & Obama To Make First Joint Appearance At The Saddleback Civil Forum Nationally Broadcast Non-Debate Format Provides Opportunity for Long-form Discussion on Leadership, Stewardship, Worldview and Vision for Americas Role By Dan Wooding Founder of ASSIST Ministries Friday, August 15, 2008

  • "LAKE FOREST, CA (ANS) -- Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama, respective presumed Republican and Democratic presidential nominees, will end the primary season Aug. 16 by joining Dr. Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif. and author of the bestselling Purpose Driven Life, at the Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency.
As a pastor, I believe in the separation of church and state, but I dont believe we can separate religion from politics, because ones faith determines ones worldview, which informs ones decisions and determines how one would lead, Warren said. The reason we are hosting this historic event is to stake out common ground for the common good.
The two hour event, held from 5-7 p.m. (PDT), will be uplinked in both HD and SD formats, and broadcast live in real time across all zones starting 8 p.m. (EDT) on CNN, FOX News Channel and Daystar Television Network, as well as Southern Californias KDOC-TV. America can also watch the event via live streaming at www.SaddlebackCivilForum.com, www.ReadersDigest.com and www.MySpace.com/Impact or listen on the FamilyLife, Moody and Pilgrim Radio Networks and select Salem Radio Network stations through Southern California affiliate, KKLA-Radio.
The Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency will be conducted in a non-debate format to provide opportunity for the candidates to engage in a long-form conversation about critical issues of interest to the faith community and the general public, said A. Larry Ross, who is coordinating the media coverage for the event.
At the candidates request, the questions will only be posed by Warren not a panel or from the audience and open to all media, rather than co-sponsored by one network or news outlet, as with many of the earlier primary events. As a result, more than 550 media representatives have requested credentials to cover the event as news.
Ross added, Warren will question each candidate, beginning with Sen. Obama as determined by a coin toss, for approximately one hour on four different topics: stewardship, leadership, worldview and Americas role in the world.
Unlike earlier debates, which often focused on short-term, hot-button issues such as the war, price of oil and healthcare Warren will be posing identical questions to the candidates to help show American voters each of these Senators leadership style and decision-making process.
Rick Warren went on to say, Since announcing this event last month, I have seen concerns expressed from two groups about this Civil Forum and my role in it. Some secularists think I am going to make this a Christian or religious litmus test for the Presidency; while many religious people assume I am going to wimp out and not ask about issues involving sanctity of life and the family including abortion, stem cell research and traditional marriage. Neither is reflective of my position or purpose in this process.
I am a pastor, not a pundit, Warren clarified. I will ask all the tough questions. But this is a conversation, not a confrontation, and I am going to be civil in our discussion. People know where I stand on the critical issues; however, this forum is not about me and what I believe, but to give a place for America to hear the candidates hearts by going beyond moral issues and their virtues, to also share their values and vision for leadership.
In addition to proclaiming the Gospel Truth of salvation in Jesus Christ, Warren further explained that this Civil Forum will enable him to fulfill three other life goals helping individuals accept responsibility, helping the Church regain credibility and encouraging society to return to civility.
At approximately 6 p.m. (PDT), in the transition of candidate questioning, both Sens. McCain and Obama will appear briefly together on the stage with Warren for a handshake and photo opportunity. This will be the first and only appearance of the candidates together before each partys national conventions.
More than 5,000 Saddleback members will be joined by local and national religious, government and business leaders in attending this historic, invitation-only event in-person. In addition, Saddleback Church personally invited 22 inner-city students and two chaperones from the local Santa Ana School District, to learn more about the democratic process and the responsibility of citizenship to share with their family, friends and peers.
Following the Civil Forum on Sunday, Aug. 17, Warren will deliver a special sermon to the nation, The Kind of Leader America Needs. This message, which will also be uplinked and live-streamed at www.Saddleback.com at 9 and 11:15 a.m. (PDT), is based on biblical principles of leadership, emphasizing such key characteristics as integrity, humility, generosity and competence.
The Saddleback Civil Forum was established to promote civil discourse and the common good of all. The first forum, held this past April, featured five Jewish World War II Holocaust survivors sharing their stories. The next Saddleback Civil Forum in September will feature former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

  • Barack Obama

  • Wikipedia
"..Barack Hussein Obama II[1] was born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Obama, Sr., a Black Kenyan of Nyangoma Kogelo, Siaya District, Kenya, and Ann Dunham, a White American from Wichita, Kansas. His parents met while attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where his father was a foreign student.[2] They separated when he was two years old and later divorced.[3] Obama's father returned to Kenya and saw him only once more before dying in an automobile accident in 1982.[4] After her divorce, Dunham married Lolo Soetoro, and the family moved to Soetoro's home country of Indonesia in 1967, where Obama attended local schools in Jakarta until he was ten years old. He then returned to Honolulu to live with his maternal grandparents while attending Punahou School from the fifth grade in 1971 until his graduation from high school in 1979.[5] Obama's mother returned to Hawaii in 1972 for several years and then back to Indonesia for her fieldwork. She died of ovarian cancer in 1995.[6] As an adult Obama admitted that during high school he used drugs, and alcohol, which he described at the Saddleback Church Civil Forum on the Presidency as his greatest moral failure.[7]..
    "
    Personal Life:
"...In a 2006 interview, Obama highlighted the diversity of his extended family. "Michelle will tell you that when we get together for Christmas or Thanksgiving, it's like a little mini-United Nations," he said. "I've got relatives who look like Bernie Mac, and I've got relatives who look like Margaret Thatcher."[152] Obama has seven half-siblings from his Kenyan father's family, six of them living, and a half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, the daughter of his mother and her Indonesian second husband.[153] Soetoro-Ng is married to a Chinese Canadian.[154] Obama's mother is survived by her Kansas-born mother, Madelyn Dunham.[155] In Dreams from My Father, Obama ties his mother's family history to possible Native American ancestors and distant relatives of Jefferson Davis, president of the southern Confederacy during the American Civil War...."
In The Audacity of Hope, Obama writes that he "was not raised in a religious household." He describes his mother, raised by non-religious parents (whom Obama has specified elsewhere as "non-practicing Methodists and Baptists") to be detached from religion, yet "in many ways the most spiritually awakened person that I have ever known." He describes his Kenyan father as "raised a Muslim," but a "confirmed atheist" by the time his parents met, and his Indonesian stepfather as "a man who saw religion as not particularly useful." In the book, Obama explains how, through working with black churches as a community organizer while in his twenties, he came to understand "the power of the African-American religious tradition to spur social change."
...Although Obama is Christian, July 2008 polls have shown that some Americans believe incorrectly that he is Muslim or was raised Muslim (12% and 26%, respectively, in Pew[168] and Newsweek[169] polls). When CNN's Larry King cited the latter poll, Obama responded, "...I wasn't raised in a Muslim home," and said that advancement of the misconception insulted Muslim Americans.[170]

Barack Obama and his grandmother Madelyn Dunham are seen together in this photo from 1979.
    She was 86.
At a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, Monday night, the Illinois senator said "she has gone home and she died peacefully in her sleep with my sister at her side."

    "Dear friends and Relatives:
I desire to tell you why I plan to vote for John McCain and other Republicans. I intend to tell you who I will vote for and my reasons, but know that I have no say in how you will vote or your reasons....
I have many areas in which I disagree with Senator McCain and Senator Coleman. I do support them because their alternatives are so bad for this country. I look at the America hating associates of Senator Obama and do question his ability to lead this country. Links to some articles for more explanation are supplied. These associates include:

William Ayers, communist, terrorist member of Weather Underground

Khalid al-Mansour, Black Separatist, supporter of Palestinian Terror
Rashid Khalidi, former spokesman for Yasser Arafat and the PLO
Tony Rezko, Felon, convicted for corruption, helped Obama buy house below value
Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga: He's a Luo tribesman affiliated with Obama's father when Odinga's communist father was Kenya 's first vice president after Kenyan independence and Obama's father was a Harvard-educated economist working in the Jomo Kenyatta government. Obama campaigned openly for Odinga for president in 2006 when Obama was in Kenya on a U.S. Senate "fact-finding" mission. Kenya 's president Kibaki asked Obama to stop interfering with Kenyan presidential politics. Obama raised an alleged $1 million for Odinga to run for president in Kenya in Dec. 2007, adding to the $1 million raised for Odinga's 2007 presidential campaign
by Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi. When Odinga lost the Dec. 2007 presidential election
by approximately 233,000 votes, Odinga called for protests which led his Luo tribesmen to murder approximately 1,000 Kikuyu tribesman, displace another 350,000 Kikuyu tribesmen, and destroy 800 churches, while not a single mosque was destroyed. Obama helped negotiate a settlement in which Odinga was appointed co-head-of-state and appointed prime minister to end the violence, even after it became publicly disclosed Odinga signed a letter of understanding with radical Muslims in Kenya in return for their votes.
    http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=80008
Organizations that Senator Obama was a member of or had close ties to:

Woods Foundation: Obama as Board member funneled millions to radical organizations
The Joyce Foundation: Obama as Board member funneled millions to radical organizations
On the whole, I will vote for Senator McCain and Senator Coleman because I think that their opponents are really bad for this country.
I have many other reasons and issues but do not have time to put them down. Again, your vote is your decision and not mine.
    Thank you for reading this.

Obama and Odinga: Change We DON'T Want, military-money-matters.com
"..Is the connection between Obama and Odinga a cause for concern among American voters? It certainly appears to be.
Obama made campaign appearances with Odinga and raised nearly a million dollars for Odinga's bid to be president of Kenya. Why do you care? Keep reading -- all the way to the bottom!
Barack Obama is running for President as the candidate of "change." His campaign slogan is "Change We Need." But from what we've learned about Raila Odinga and Obama's support of him, we've determined that we don't want that kind of change.
If the name is not familiar to you, Raila Odinga was the opposition leader who lost the election for Kenya's presidency in 2007 to Mwai Kibaki by some 230,000 votes.
Odinga ran as the candidate of "Change." Sound familiar? That should send a chill down your spine, especially when you see the kind of "change" he had in mind -- be sure to read below the video...
Within hours of the election results being announced, Odinga claimed the election was rigged. His followers (mostly Muslim) went on a riotous rampage, burning down villages and killing members of the rival Kikuyu tribe (mostly Christian) to which Kibaki belongs. In one notorious incident on New Year's Day, a mob locked the doors of a church where villagers, mostly women and children, had fled for safety and set it on fire, burning them alive. Press reports said those who attempted to escape from the burning building were hacked to death by machete-weilding mobs.
Odinga supporters painted graffiti reading "No Raila, No Peace," promising the tribal violence would continue until the votes were recounted. More than 1500 Kenyans died, and an estimated 500,000 were left homeless by the rampage. Most press reports dismissed it as "tribal violence." Others accuse Odinga of genocide.
Former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan (from Ghana) interceded and helped negotiate an accord in which the elected President, Mwai Kibaki, appointed Odinga as Prime Minister, a sharing of power that was brokered to appease Odinga's supporters and stop the violence.
Does that bother you as much as it bothers us? Isn't that negotiating with terrorists? And not just negotiating, but giving them what they want? Does it not reward their murderous tactics?.."

  • Senator Joe Biden

  • "...Joe Biden has represented the state of Delaware in the United States Senate since 1972, when he was elected at the age of twenty-nine. Senator Biden is recognized as a leader in foreign policy, as well as one of the nation's most influential voices on terrorism, drug policy, and crime. Nationally, Senator Biden has earned a reputation for working on a bipartisan basis with Republican colleagues and bringing real results that matter to Americans..."

"..Born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania for ten years prior to moving to Delaware, Biden trained as a lawyer and became a senator in 1973 at age 30, the fifth-youngest senator in U.S. history. He has served as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, dealing with issues related to drug policy, crime prevention, and civil liberties. He is a long-time member and current chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and has worked on resolutions concerning the Yugoslav wars and Iraq War. .. Early Life
"..In 1977, Biden married Jill Tracy Jacobs. They have one daughter, Ashley, and are members of the Roman Catholic Church..." Foreign Relations Committee
".. Biden is also a long-time member and current chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. In 1997, he became the ranking minority member and chaired the committee from June 2001 through 2003. When Democrats re-took control of the Senate following the 2006 elections, Biden again assumed the top spot on the committee in 2007. His efforts to combat hostilities in the Balkans in the 1990s brought national attention and influenced presidential policy: traveling repeatedly to the region, he made one meeting famous by calling Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic a "war criminal." He consistently argued for lifting the arms embargo, training Bosnian Muslims, investigating war crimes and administering NATO air strikes. Biden's subsequent "lift and strike" resolution was instrumental in convincing President Bill Clinton to use military force in the face of systematic human rights violations.[23] Biden has also called on Libya to release political prisoner Fathi Eljahmi.[24]
Biden gives his opening statement and questions to U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker and General David H. Petraeus at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Hearing on Iraq; September 11, 2007 Biden stated in 2002 that Saddam Hussein was a threat to national security, and that there was no option but to eliminate that threat.[25] The Bush administration rejected an effort Biden undertook with Senator Richard Lugar to pass a resolution authorizing military action only after the exhaustion of diplomatic efforts. In October 2002, Biden voted in favor of the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq, justifying the Iraq War. He has long supported the appropriations to pay for the occupation, but has argued repeatedly that the war should be internationalized, that more soldiers are needed, and that the Bush administration should "level with the American people" about the cost and length of the conflict.[26] "

  • Governor Sarah Palin Biography

  • "Governor Sarah Palin made history on Dec. 4, 2006, when she took office. As the 11th governor of Alaska, she is the first woman to hold the office.
Since taking office, her top priorities have been resource development, education and workforce development, public health and safety, and transportation and infrastructure development.
Under her leadership, Alaska invested $5 billion in state savings, overhauled education funding, and implemented the Senior Benefits Program that provides support for low-income older Alaskans. She created Alaskas Petroleum Systems Integrity Office to provide oversight and maintenance of oil and gas equipment, facilities and infrastructure, and the Climate Change Subcabinet to prepare a climate change strategy for Alaska.
During her first legislative session, Governor Palins administration passed two major pieces of legislation an overhaul of the states ethics laws and a competitive process to construct a gas pipeline.
Governor Palin is chair of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multi-state government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment. She was recently named chair of the National Governors Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee, which is charged with pursuing legislation to ensure state needs are considered as federal policy is formulated in the areas of agriculture, energy, environmental protection and natural resource management. Prior to being named to this position, she served as co-chair of this committee.
Prior to her election as governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council and two terms as the mayor/manager of Wasilla. During her tenure, she reduced property tax levels while increasing services and made Wasilla a business friendly environment, drawing in new industry.
She has served as chair of the Alaska Conservation Commission, which regulates Alaska's most valuable non-renewable resources: oil and gas. She was elected by her peers to serve as president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. In this role, she worked with local, state and federal officials to promote solutions to the needs of Alaska's communities.
Sarah Heath Palin arrived in Alaska with her family in 1964, when her parents came to teach school in Skagway. She received a bachelor of science degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho in 1987. Palin, who graduated from Wasilla High School in 1982, has lived in Skagway, Eagle River and Wasilla.
She is married to Todd Palin, who is a lifelong Alaskan, a production operator on the North Slope and a four-time champion of the Iron Dog, the world's longest snowmachine race.
Todd and Sarah fish in Bristol Bay with their children: Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig. Through Todd's Yup'ik grandmother, Alaska's Native heritage plays an important role in their family. Track enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept. 11, 2007.
Prior to taking office, Palin served on numerous boards and commissions throughout the state. She was active in her familys pursuits including serving as a sports team mom and school volunteer. She also runs marathons.
Palin is a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoys hunting, fishing, Alaska history, and all that Alaska's great outdoors has to offer. "

Jobs and real estate values are shaky at best, vanishing at worst. Some of us are already suffering. We are not sure what to do. What will the future hold? What will our personal prospects be?
These questions have dwarfed the hope and optimism many felt at the prospect of our electing the first Black President. Some may be reassuring themselves that if Barack wins, things may get better. Others are probably feeling that if Barack doesn't win, things will be better.
My deep concern for those of us of African descent in this country is that we are confronting the temptation to continue a subtle form of idolatry that infected our community in the 1960s. When the federal government intervened in response to the violence and brutality of the South's repression of the Civil Rights movement, it seems that many began to look to the government as our salvation.
This has manifested itself in an unhealthy correlation of optimism and enfranchisement when Democrats are in office versus Republicans. And God doesn't tolerate rivals. When Ronald Reagan defeated Jimmy Carter in the 1980 Presidential election, there was a widespread feeling of anxiety in the Black community here. How would we manage with the cuts in social programs that were a part of his party's platform?
Well, we did manage. When Bill Clinton took over the White House, many felt like we were back in favor. Yet, too many of our people continued to languish in poverty, our inner city schools continued on their slide into dysfunction, and drugs and crime too often remained the only meaningful career paths for so many in our historical neighborhoods.
After eight years of Republican leadership of our country, some are looking forward to the "black-friendly" party being in power. Let me sound a note of caution: The government has never been, nor will it ever be, the solution to our problems. It can help. It can hinder. But, it can never bring the deliverance so many in our community need. God has been and always will be our only hope.
What of the current crisis? I must caution against putting our hope in man. Man can not accomplish the deliverance of our people. It is only Jesus, and His gospel being lived out through His followers that brings the kind of redemptive power to bear that can restore our devastated neighborhoods, reform our decaying school system, and teach our people the principles that will keep them from being the victims of the next, ever more sophisticated financial scam. And Jesus is the only One who can give people the power to live godly lives.
The Bible tells us that what Jesus ultimately has promised us is to keep our souls safe. The Apostle Paul put it this way, "because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day." - 2 Timothy 1:12b
As believers, that really IS enough. To be granted a guarantee of heaven. Eternal life. Abundant life. With Jesus in His perfect, cleansed-of-evil, kingdom. That is what we profess to believe. Times like this call us to live in light of that profession.
Trust Him! Praise Him! Even when we don't know exactly how it is all going to turn out. He is still Righteous. He is still Good. He is still God. And He always will be.
You may be wondering how things are going for this ministry as we trust God to provide for The Impact Movement. Since the appeal has gone out we have received $17,205 toward the immediate 30 day goal of $30,000. More than half way there! Thank you for praying and for sacrificially giving. Please don't forget to forward these e-mails to those whom you know. Only one fifth of the original list has opened the e-mail so far.
If you are able and would like to give towards our financial goal, you can invest in this ministry today. Remember, every little bit helps. If 1,250 people give $100 by the end of the year, we will achieve our End of Year goal. Don't forget to remind federal employees (including postal and military) to designate their Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) giving to Impact (# 12543).
May God grant us all grace to look to Him in these troubled times!

Pre-election Prayer Letter from Dutch Sheets
"Due to IRS rules, this letter is from me personally and is not from any of the ministries I am associated with. (Also because of IRS rules, I cannot send it to my ministry database and therefore need your help in getting it out.) Do with it as you see fit, but my desire is that you forward it to as many praying friends as possible.
    October 20, 2008
    Dear Praying Friend,
In 2000, I wrote the 2nd most important letter of my lifea call to prayer for the elections of that year. I'm now writing what may be my
most important letter. I knew the importance of those elections in 2000 was beyond any in my life up to that point and that the spiritual warfare surrounding them would be unlike anything any of us had ever seen. That letter was read by millions of people and I believe millions of them responded by praying. I also believe the prayers turned the tide.
You may question whether President Bush was the right choice; obviously, he has made some blunders in his tenure as president. But two of his decisions alone left no doubt he was God's choice: Roberts and Alito. These two Supreme Court Justices have proven critical in the process of breaking the hold of humanism, death and anti-God agendas that have ruled the Court for 50 years. I assure you that more devastationthe shedding of innocent blood, immorality, decay of the family and an erosion of our godly heritagehas flowed into our nation through that institution than any other door in America. The poison allowed into America through their decisions is beyond any of our abilities to articulate.
The reality in America is that you don't need to control Congress or the White Hose to rule the nation. You only need 5 people 5 out of 9 on the Supreme Court. And for decades those who disagree with just about everything you and I stand for have been in control!
In Bush's two terms, the process of turning this around began with the appointments of Roberts and Alito. Now, we win some cases 5-4 and lose some 4-5. (We barely outlawed partial birth abortion. The vote of one judge saved thousands of babies from this horror.) We need one more conservative Justice for a consistent majority, then more to build a strong major majority.
In Obama's own words, "the next president will appoint at least one, perhaps two or more Supreme Court Justices." He's right. Almost certainly two or more older, liberal Justices are waiting until after the elections to retire, in hopes of Obama winning and appointing more liberals to replace them. And he certainly would. He voted against the confirmation of Roberts and Alito. So did Biden. And Biden led the fight against Justice Thomas several years back, another of the 4 solid conservatives. Make no mistake about it, the two of them do have a litmus test for Supreme Court Justices, and a major part of that test is Roe vs. Wade. McCain and Palin, on the other hand, both have very strong pro-life positions. This alone makes the choice for President simple. To vote for the 2nd and 3rd most liberal senators (Obama and Biden), both of whom are firmly and blatantly pro- abortion, would be unconscionable. Obama has actually said that if he wins, he would like his first action as president to be the signing of the Freedom of Choice Act, which would eliminate every other law against any aspect of abortion (partial birth abortion, parental notification, etc., etc.). And with a democratic majority in the House and Senate, pretty much any legislation he and Biden want to pass will be a slam-dunk. There are many other unrighteous positions they hold but this position alone makes the choice easy. If they win this election, it will set America back decades in the cause of life and the restoration we seek.
Just as many of you do, I too, want to see a first black President, but not Senator Obama. To allow that noble and godly desire, the economy or one's position on the war to trump this issue of life and death for the innocent unborn is simply wrong. The scriptures teach that if we choose
first to exalt righteousness and turn from evil, God promises to heal our land (see Proverbs 14:34; 2 Chronicles 7:14). It is righteousness that exalts a nation, not wealth, prosperity or armies. If we will finish the process of removing the curses of death and anti-God laws off of America by electing a president that will continue to shift the Court, God will grace us with breakthrough in other areas such as the economy, the war against terrorism, etc. My faith is not in a person, and certainly not a political party, for the healing of America , but I know God's word and His ways well enough to know that our decisions do move Him to action or inaction.
Now to the heart of my reason for writing this letter (I realize I am "preaching to the choir"most of you who know or listen to me are conservative enough to vote for McCain and Palin.) I have not written any appeals for prayer concerning this election because:
    1. Others have, and
    1. I believe our movement has matured to the point that the prayer base of the Church is already praying.
But I now feel the need to raise my voice. I am appealing to you to pray for these elections the next two weeks like you've never prayed for any in the past.
Faithfully. Passionately. Boldly. Ask God for His mercy and grace. We deserve His judgment for removing His influence and authority from our government, schools, homes and businesses; for the killing of 50 million babies; for leading the world in the consumption and exporting of pornography; for passing laws to reject His; etc. But mercy triumphs over judgment and in His wrath He remembers mercy. In 2000 we actually lost the popular vote and won the electiontalk about grace! Please pray for this grace to be released again.
But I am also asking you for something more than normal prayer. For those of you who understand spiritual warfare, I am asking you to also include this aspect of prayer. There is no doubt that we have entered a Daniel 10 moment in time: "Then he said to me, 'Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, I have come in response to your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia'" (Daniel 10: 12-13 NAS). The spiritual warfare in this election is incredibly fierce, and just as it was in Daniel's day, is all about the restoration of a nation. And also like Daniel, we must keep praying until we win the battle in the heavens.
In August of this year I predicted that September would mark a shift in momentum for these elections. This happened with the appointment of Sarah Palin as the Vice Presidential nominee (who is a true Esther in our generation), but when the economy began its meltdown and the media ramped up their unprecedented attacks on Palin, that momentum wasn't sustained. But we can see it turn again if we approach this battle as the spiritual warfare it truly is and bind the evil forces involved (see Matthew 16:18-19). The reality is that this election can be the breakthrough we need to fully shift the Court (and ultimately our nation) or it will be an immeasurable setback that could take many years to reverseif ever.
Please understand what I am saying:
if we engage in this battle and do what I am askingin masswe will win; if we do not, we will lose. I, for one, don't intend to allow the latter. I am in Washington , D.C. now (October 20-22) with Lou Engle and a team of prayer leaders from around the nation
to war for this election. Join us!
Lose some sleep, miss some mealspray! Pray like never before for these elections. And as you do, involve yourself not only in petitioning prayer but also in spiritual warfare. Use your God-given authority over the plans and strategies of satan's kingdom. Bind all witchcraft that is working to control the outcome, including occultic powers that are suppressing truth. Release Christ's Kingdom rule in every way the Holy Spirit leads you.
Don't be deceived and don't lose hope (if you have to, turn off the TV.)
It is not too late to turn these elections. God is plenty powerful enough to do so. The real question is will we rise to the level of prayer and spiritual warfare necessary to release that power. And remember, we don't need a majority of Christians who are willing and able to do thisonly a praying remnant. We can do it!
Here are some practical suggestions to consider:
    1. Fast (a meal a day; a day a week; a Daniel fast; 3 days; 10 days; TV; etc.) and spend the time praying.
    2. 2) Agree in prayer with someone everyday for God's will to be done.
    3. 3) Form/participate in prayer groups regularly. Churches could pray everyday.
    4. 4) Take time in every gathering to pray. (Take 15 minutes in every service to pray for the elections. Turn an entire service to harp and bowl style intercessionworship and prayer combined.)
    5. 5) Join 2 or more on a conference call and pray for 15, 20, or 30 minutes.
    6. 6) Pray on the way to work (and on the way home).
    7. 7) Pray before you go to sleep.
    8. 8) Pray before church services.
    9. 9) Ask God to give you His strategyHe will!

"...Now 50 years later, California sits within a fog of Jezebel confusion. Recently the Supreme Court of California disregarded the votes of the people and legalized homosexual marriage. The entire world listened attentively as the mayor of San Francisco boasted, As California goes, so goes the rest of the nation. Its inevitable, this door is wide open. Its going to happen whether you like it or not. This is the future, and its now. The world is looking to California for moral leadership while California finds herself caught in the snare of idolatry and self-worship. Recently I received an urgent call on behalf of hundreds of pastors admitting that California wouldnt be saved simply political petitioning and confessed the reality of an ongoing spiritual battle within the state and the need to mobilize for mass fasting and prayer. They asked us to bring TheCall to San Diego, not knowing that we received several powerful directives from the Lord a year ago that TheCall was going to go to the stadium in San Diego. ..."

    Post 2008 Election

Yeah, elections are over! Got tired of all that campaign ads! Well, I have to be honest, the team I voted for did'nt get elected. If I had a choice, it would've been the Independent Party, but I felt I was throwing my vote away. There are no perfect parties, which is why I'm thankful to have a trusting (see Psalm 20:7) and depending personal relationship with God! Do you? My main reason for voting for McCain-Palin, wasn't them as a person, but who they were representing-Republican Party's stance on "family values". I know they are no "better" than the Democratic Party on "values", but I had my personal priorities on values. However, I'm going to support and pray (more) for our "new" elected-President Obama-congratulations! He can't fix this nation and world by himself, we all need to work-together-with God's guidance! Remember?..In God we Trust!..Amen?...Amen!

"We have seen an historic sea change in this nation--not only in the election of Barack Obama, but in the ascension of hundreds of progressive candidates to our State Houses and Congress. To make real this promise of change, however, we must ensure that our elected officials live up to the ideals that promote equity and opportunity.
In the coming months, the Obama Administration will begin its transition to power and the strengthened Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress will get to work. We ask that they keep these Four Principles for Equity in mind in every decision they make:
    1. Sustain the deep levels of democratic participation and civic engagement shown during the 2008 presidential election campaign.
    2. Build an economy that expands opportunity for struggling families and revitalizes distressed communities.
    3. Make affordable housing available to all, recognizing its historic role as a gateway to opportunity and asset-building.
    4. Invest in building strong, healthy communities across America.
All Americans--especially those in low-income communities and communities of color--deserve a chance to participate and prosper. We have a real opportunity today to make the change we seek--but we must all work and push and fight together to make it happen.
What principles do you think should guide the Obama Administration? Please visit EquityBlog to weigh in."

    Campaign 2004 Reflections

I was just watching the local news (Ch. 5 KSAX/KSTP) today (Sunday, August 1st of 2004) and I actually was pleased of the media's coverage on a particular topic: "St. Paul Mayor Randy Kelly (DFL) to back President Bush": ( This was big news that got some criticism (e.g. similar to Wellstone's Memorial turned to a campaign "party"!) from some some state DFL supporters. My reason for agreeing with St. Paul's Mayor, Randy Kelly (personally met in 1998 when I was lobying for UMM/Morris' RFC/Science Bldg. Bonding Bill) was because "we need to support our President" (respect for authoriatative figure-no matter what part he/she's on!; just like how we should for our biological parents-no matter who "imperfect" they are; this explains why our "young people" have no respect for authority!; "we" adults need to be good examples through our words and actions) after reading a bumper sticker ("Anti-Bush") driving on W. 7th St. in downtown St. Paul this past weekend. I say try to put yourself in his shoes and "run our nation". No one is perfect! I also decided to write this because I was watching my first demolition derby at the nearby Pope County Fair in Glenwood (26 miles east of Morris) and I saw some grafitti in the grandstand: "George W Bush Needs to be Murdered" (something like that).

  • I don't totally believe everything what President George Bush does, but we (Citizens of this nation) need to respect our authoriatative figures!...
"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."-Romans 13:1

Have you ever been an authoriatative postion (e.g. Residential Adviser of 35+ college students, leader of a campus ministry, etc...)? Did you ever had people complain about your? Was it easy? You tried your best, righ? If you do have problems with any authoritative figure, my advise is to first "pray" for them! Make a list of the "positives" of that person. Then make a list of "advices" for that person to work on. Ask God how you can be a person of help-participant (does something) instead of a onlooker (does nothing)!

    What are the issues?
(e.g.death penatly, abortion, affirmative action, war, separation of church and state-how far do we go? -see down below- etc...)

Undecided (take the questionaaire by Time magazine found in this page)?

Still undecided? Yes, I've heard that neither candidates "fit" your vote; however, no individual or party is perfect. That is why I'm glad to fully-totally put all my dependence and trust in my Heavenly Father (see personal relationship) Well, what's your first #1 priority issue? Is it "good" for you as an "individual" or the "whole"? Ask and seek Him! As a Christian (even though we are "citizens" of Heaven and not of this world, it's our duty to bring the "taste of the Kingdom" on earth), we need to be "involved"-"ask not what your country can do for you, but ask your Heavenly Father what YOU can do for our community, state, nation, and world"

    Christian?

Both claim to be "Christians" (each quoted Bible verses too during the 3rd final debate), so what? Yes, we don't have the right to judge them, but do we see the "Christ-like-fruit" (Matthew 7:15-23 or Galatians 5:22-24) that Jesus and his followers talk about in the New Testament?

    "In God We Trust"

This is a quote in the U.S's monetary, which we as a nation needs to do. No matter what happens after the election, we need to put our total trust and dependence on Him. There is no such thing as a "perfect" President, man, or human being! Why should we put our total trust in a President, leader, nation, or man? Instead, we should be praying for "them" and focus on what we can do (see dependence on God)...

"Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask your Heavenly Father what you can do for your country (family, neighborhood, community, city, state, nation, and world)"

This is quote that came to me during this campaign as I changed some words and context of JFK's famous speech. We all need to be part of the political process and each play a part!

The Lord has a way of revealing those of us who really know him, and those that don't! Think about it! Kerry gave a big speech last week about how

his faith is so "important" to him. In this attempt to convince the American people that we should consider him for president, he announced that his favorite Bible verse is John 16:3.

Of course the speech writer meant John 3:16, but nobody in the Kerry camp was familiar enough with scripture to catch the error. And do you know what John 16:3 says?

John 16:3 says; "They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me." The Spirit works in strange ways.

That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq.

When some claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war, state the following ...

FDR... led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman... finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy... started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.

Clinton... went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us President Bush has ... liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but... It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51 day operation.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

    Dear Pastor:

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Judging by National Journal's congressional vote ratings, Kerry and Edwards are a couple of the most liberal senators in Congress. The results of the vote ratings show that Kerry was the most liberal senator in 2003, with a composite liberal score of 96.5. But Edwards wasn't far behind: He had a 2003 composite liberal score of 94.5, making him the fourth-most-liberal senator.

    Matthew 22:21
They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

We have a moral duty to be good citizens of the United States of America. The Christian founders of our great land gave us the responsibility to elect representatives to guide our moral and political path as a nation. The laws which have been passed since the beginning are directly due to the moral character of those elected representatives. We as citizens of America are directly responsible for the condition of the current laws in affect in America.

Up until 1954 non-profit organizations, ministers and churches were free to enter the public debate arena without fear of reprisal from the government. LBJ was running for re-election to the Senate against strong anti-communist groups in his state. He pushed through legislation barring non-profit groups from political activity four months before Election Day. The IRS through threat of loss of the tax-exempt status has had a grip over the political, social, moral debate which ministers and churches up until the last fifty years have participated in.

Surely we as Christian men and women can recognize the moral decay America has had in the last forty or so years. Prayer was removed from schools, abortion was legalized and a continual stream of courtroom decisions from activist judges encouraging the moral decay we now see. How has this happened? Directly from the men and women who have been elected to office, our representatives, since the church was silenced and removed from the public debate.

It is time the men and women of God stand up and speak out the truth, the Word of God. God does not want silence in the church regarding the actions of our government nor the sin and corruption of our elected political officials or of those running for office. The Old Testament prophets were always warning and encouraging the leaders of Israel to follow God, to keep His Commandments. I cannot imagine that God holds us faultless when we have the power to influence for good our government by voting for good decent candidates and we sit idly and silently by while evil, unrighteous men and women are elected into positions of authority over us.

There are one and a half million babies slaughtered each year in America. This has occurred because immoral men in political office and the courts have been voted into office through the ignorance and silence of the Christian church. Ministers of protestant and catholic churches have influence over the largest single block of voters in America.

You can identify from the pulpit issues pertinent to the Christian faith and the obvious stand candidates have taken either through what they say or their voting records. Church attendees should be encouraged to vote for those who support Christian principles.

The silence of the church on the issue of abortion is wrong and the blood of the innocent could be indirectly placed on the hands of the ministers of the church who have refused to address this moral ill.

    Psalm 82:1-4
God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. 2How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. 3Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

Also see Jer. 1.5 and Psalm 94. 5-10.

Regarding our upcoming presidential election George Bush is Pro-Life and John Kerry is Pro-Choice. Do your Christian and civic duty and may you be blessed. Do not allow the fear or threat of losing tax-exemption block doing what is right.

    Luke 16:13
No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Throughout the Bible we have a record of God's judgment on Israel when she as a nation turned against the Lord. Please make a stand for righteousness in our land which was founded as a beacon for Christ.

    Joshua 1:9

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

    Deut. 4:5-6

Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the Lord my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it. 6Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

  • Poltical Party Affiliation?

When people ask what political party I am with? I answer: "Neither, I'm with the Jesus party!" I don't like to take sides because it creates division with people, which is what the enemy (devil) likes to use (e.g. racism, hate, anger, etc...) amongst the human race! However, we do need to be active (e.g. pray for leaders) and voice ourselves in this democratic nation; and not become spectators!

    Need Government

"12 "But when you saw that Nahash king of the Ammonites was moving against you, you said to me, 'No, we want a king to rule over us'-even though the LORD your God was your king. 13 Now here is the king you have chosen, the one you asked for; see, the LORD has set a king over you. 14 If you fear the LORD and serve and obey him and do not rebel against his commands, and if both you and the king who reigns over you follow the LORD your God-good! 15 But if you do not obey the LORD , and if you rebel against his commands, his hand will be against you, as it was against your fathers."-1 Sammuel 12

Above is part of a story how Israel was provided by a King. I see this as the history (see beginning of 1 Chronicles 5 and chapters after on history of past kings of Israel and Judah, which we can learn a lot from their mistakes and relate to our present current political situation)-the beginning of rulers and authorities (e.g. Presidents, Prime Ministers, etc...) that have led, leads, and will continue to lead nations of this world. However, there is no ruler that is perfect because the only one that has, is, and will always be perfect is Christ our King-for those who acknowledges Him (see personal relationship)

We do need government to prevent chaos and set order. As a U.S. citizen, we can easily complain how "corrupt" it is in this country. However, one should visit other countries and realize we don't have it all that bad. What happens if we don't have government? Have you ever seen the movies..

-"Lord of the Flies" (my free essays)
-Postman (starring Kevin Costner) no government after a post nuclear disaster

Yes, the "Church" (both Catholic and Protestants) have their "mistakes" too, which is why we need to Full Rely On God by having Jesus be Lord of your life!...think that's one-sided or too "conservative" for you? Well, being not selfish is part of the Christian walk!

There is a seperation of "church and state" (religious tolerance), but their will never be a disection or they can't take away what's in your heart-God! As the nation battles on this issue, let's not forget about our (nation and world's) history when we do eliminate God completely from out nation (e.g. remember 9/11!) If you already got Jesus in your heart, you can be a "light" to the politicians in government-"marketplace"

How? We'll look in the Bible of the many "politicians":

-Moses (Exodus 7:7 "rubbed shoulders with the Pharaoh), who was involved with the Egyptian "elite" before finding his true "Hebrew" identity
    -King David (2 Sammuel)

more.....(Bible and Liberal Arts: under "sociology")

Q: Did you know that Billy Graham, evangelist, was an adviser to some U.S. Presidents?
A: "Just As I Am", an autobiography of Mr. Graham shares stories of 9 U.S. Presidents he served as a "spiritual adviser"

Need the Lord's help in the political arena?

"Heavenly Father, I invite you to be the Lord of my life in the work you given me in government/politics. I can't do it without you, so I as you Jesus to be Lord of my workplace. In Jesus name...Amen!"

    *David's prayer in Psalm 26

"Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have led a blameless life...redeem me and be merciful to me. My feet stand on level ground; in the great assembly I will praise the Lord"

    Separation of Church/Religion and State

This has been an on-going issues, which folks have told me that it started when they banned prayer from schools and now they are going too far. Now you wonder why 9/11 might have happened!

As a Christian, there are many political issues that we may disagree with, but we have to be careful to not get too emotional and lose that focus to love one another. I see many protesting going on when it comes to various issues that Christians disagree with. Some issues, we somewhat get pressured to agree with to avoid any offense...

"11Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. 12Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us."-1 Peter 2:11

There are times we need to be bold (with the help of the Holy Spirit) and not leave our ground in faith.

    Dear Campaign Directors,

Keep up the good work you all do in this "busy" season! As a second generation Filipino American citizen (non partisan-undecided voter still) -foremost-a concerned Christian, could you please STOP the "campaign attacks" (ok, I'm a softy rural small college town resident in Morris, Minnesota-born and raised in the bigger cities-Twin Cities) in the media (e.g. speeches, commercial ads, violence, etc..) we see on television.

Below is a personal statement in my website to encourage citizens and to both Bush&Kerry to focus more on "what are you going to do" (I haven't been to a campaign rally yet, but the media just publicizes one liner ridicule attacks of both parties...so I might not hear what each party is addressing)...

    Citizen praying for you all,
    Sal:)

I forgot to put this in the e-mail:

We need to better serve as role models to our children and the future generations of our nation through our political campaign actions (e.g. speeches, ads, etc..). Also, the whole world is watching us, so we need to remember them too!

    Post-Elections

Wow, I'm glad the 2004 Campaign is over-no more of those "filthy" debates, campaign ads, etc...However, we need to keep working together-both side of the party!

    Can't Stereotype or Prejudge

After watching the 2004 Campaign and Elections, I noticed how people can get "overboard" (e.g. my housemate chose to put a "Bush/Chenney" sign in our front yard, which was ripped the weekend before the elections) and "too emotional" into it. If you label yourself with one of the parties, you automatically get "categorized" or "stereotype". That is why I didn't affiliate myself with either party because I don't totally believe with all the issues of any of the parties. You might be automatically labeled "negatively". I hear this example use a lot: When I say I like "ice cream", what picture comes to your mind...chocolate, mint, on a dish or a cone, etc...It can be many things depending on the "eye of the beholder" or "your personal experience". The same goes with either political parties. I was chatting with someone last night (Friday, November 5th) at a local coffee shop. He told me how his sister hates "Bush". I asked him why would she hater him? He began to share about the organge poison gas issue from the Persian Gulf War, which U.S. Soldiers were lied/decieved by their upper authorities (e.g. Bush). Well, one of these soldiers is the husband of my friend's sister. This explains why he and his wife hates "Bush". A "Republican" who is for "moral issues and values" may label this soldier one who doesn't value "moral issues or values" of the Republican Party. This individual "Republican" may not understand automatically why this individual "hates Bush" until he/she hears their story. Instead of jumping to conclusions of individuals, we need to understand where they are coming from. It's an example of racism, in which people stereotype or "prejudge" a person before they get a chance to know the individual.

  • Barack Obama - Biography, netglimpse.com

  • "Name : Barack Obama
    Profession : Politician
    Date of Birth : August 4, 1961
Birth Name : Barack Hussein Obama Jr.
    Nationality : American
    Political Party : Democratic
Education : from Columbia University, Harvard Law School
    Spouse : Michelle Obama
Religion : ChristianHis first name comes from the word that means "blessed by God" in Arabic. # Has a beer named after him in the Kenyan town where his father was born.
Born to a Kenyan father and an American mother, Barack Obama grew up in culturally diverse surroundings. He spent most of his childhood in the majority-minority U.S. state of Hawaii and lived for four years in Indonesia...
Barack Obama's parents separated when he was two years old and later divorced. His father went to Harvard University to pursue Ph.D. studies, then returned to Kenya, where he died in an auto accident when the younger Obama was twenty-one years old. His mother married Lolo Soetoro, an Indonesian foreign student, with whom she had one daughter, Maya. The family moved to Jakarta in 1967, where Barack Obama attended local schools from ages 6 to 10. He then returned to Honolulu to live with his maternal grandparents while attending Punahou School from 5th grade until his graduation in 1979. Barack Obama's mother died of ovarian cancer a few months after the publication of his 1995 memoir, Dreams from My Father...
A theme of Obama's keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, and the title of his 2006 book, The Audacity of Hope, was inspired by his pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. In Chapter 6 of the book, titled "Faith," Barack Obama writes that he "was not raised in a religious household." He describes his mother, raised by non-religious parents, as detached from religion, yet "in many ways the most spiritually awakened person that I have ever known." He describes his Kenyan father as "raised a Muslim," but a "confirmed atheist" by the time his parents met, and his Indonesian step-father as "a man who saw religion as not particularly useful." The chapter details how Obama, in his twenties, while working with local churches as a community organizer, came to understand "the power of the African American religious tradition to spur social change." Barack Obama writes: "It was because of these newfound understandings—that religious commitment did not require me to suspend critical thinking, disengage from the battle for economic and social justice, or otherwise retreat from the world that I knew and loved—that I was finally able to walk down the aisle of Trinity United Church of Christ one day and be baptized."

    "In God We Trust"

Does the American people actually mean this?

  • Wikipedia

  • "The motto In God We Trust was placed on United States coins largely because of the increased religious sentiment existing during the American Civil War. Secretary of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase received many appeals from devout Christians throughout the country, urging that the United States recognize God on United States coins. From Treasury Department records, it appears that the first such appeal came in a letter dated November 13, 1861. It was written to Secretary Chase by Rev. M. R. Watkinson, Minister of the Gospel from Ridleyville, Pennsylvania, and read:
...This would place us openly under the Divine protection we have personally claimed. From my heart I have felt our national shame in disowning God as not the least of our present national disasters.

As a result, Secretary Chase instructed James Pollock, Director of the Mint at Philadelphia, to prepare a motto, in a letter dated November 20, 1861:
Dear Sir: No nation can be strong except in the strength of God, or safe except in His defense. The trust of our people in God should be declared on our national coins.
You will cause a device to be prepared without unnecessary delay with a motto expressing in the fewest and tersest words possible this national recognition

Is there such thing as a "perfect" President? When I was reading 1 Sammuel 12....

Samuel said to all Israel, I have listened to everything you said to me and have set a king over you.
Now you have a king as your leader. As for me, I am old and gray, and my sons are here with you. I have been your leader from my youth until this day.
Here I stand. Testify against me in the presence of the Lord and his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I cheated? Whom have I oppressed? From whose hand have I accepted a bribe to make me shut my eyes? If I have done any of these, I will make it right.
You have not cheated or oppressed us, they replied. You have not taken anything from anyone's hand.
Samuel said to them, The Lord is witness against you, and also his anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand.
    He is witness, they said.
Then Samuel said to the people, It is the Lord who appointed Moses and Aaron and brought your forefathers up out of Egypt.
Now then, stand here, because I am going to confront you with evidence before the Lord as to all the righteous acts performed by the Lord for you and your fathers.
After Jacob entered Egypt, they cried to the Lord for help, and the Lord sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your forefathers out of Egypt and settled them in this place.
But they forgot the Lord their God; so he sold them into the hand of Sisera, the commander of the army of Hazor, and into the hands of the Philistines and the king of Moab, who fought against them.
They cried out to the Lord and said, We have sinned; we have forsaken the Lord and served the Baals and the Ashtoreths. But now deliver us from the hands of our enemies, and we will serve you."
    - 1 Sammuel 12

about how the Israelites were asking God for a "king"-just like other nations (e.g. we always want the same thing our neighbors have), which we don't look at the future consequences; I notice that we as "human beings" are never contented. We want what others have! As you read more of the story after 1 Sammuel 12, one finds out the corruption of "kings"-just like Presidents!

"Government Citizens!": Pray for Our Leaders

Instead of complaining and ridiculing these politicians, pray for them! Then ask God what can you do to play a part in making our local community, state, nation, or world better? Just like John F. Kennedy's famous challenge (inagural) speech, "And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country..." in January 20th, 1961

Yes, we need to submit to "governmental" authorities (Romans 13:1-7), so we need to make sure we submit to those that are "right with God".

  • Presidential Prayer Team, U.S. President needs your prayers!
  • "7 "Now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. 8 Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. 9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?"-1 Kings 3

Also, we need to pray for the President's Administration Team and Leaders's (local, state, and national level) Advisers overall:

    1 Kings 4

    Solomon's Officials and Governors

"1 So King Solomon ruled over all Israel. 2 And these were his chief officials:

    Azariah son of Zadok-the priest;
    3 Elihoreph and Ahijah, sons of Shisha-secretaries;
    Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud-recorder;
    4 Benaiah son of Jehoiada-commander in chief;
    Zadok and Abiathar-priests;
    5 Azariah son of Nathan-in charge of the district officers;
    Zabud son of Nathan-a priest and personal adviser to the king;
    6 Ahishar-in charge of the palace;
Adoniram son of Abda-in charge of forced labor.

7 Solomon also had twelve district governors over all Israel, who supplied provisions for the king and the royal household. Each one had to provide supplies for one month in the year."

Morris: All American City Finalist in Atlanta

6 years ago when I was an RA and an MCSA Rep my junior year, I started to get more involved with student politics. I helped lobbied for the now RFC, which I talked one and one with now Mayor of St. Paul Randy Kelly; back then, he was one of the Minnesota State Legislature. The RFC came about after I graduated, but the work towards getting it paid off as I'm a active member now. I would not imagine going to Atlanta with 14 members from the Morris community to share about the RFC in front of 12 judges (mayor, political figures, etc...)

I went on a 4 day conference type competition representing Morris for All American City in 2004. I was representing the cultural diversity aspect of my community, along with the church population. I witnessed many opportunities where God or the faith-religious aspect played a part on this 4-day trip:

Wednesday, June 9th: I had an opportunity to share my faith with the hotel fitness cleaner/janitor (AJ) the first night. I told him that God can use (see purpose) us anywhere, and how He has used me working at a group home for developmentaly disabled/physically challenged adults-if we ask Him! AJ seem very interested, so I told him that God can use him here. I told him that the Bible can be a good guidance and he asked me, "where should I start reading?". Like many people asking where to start, I told him to read the Book of John.

Thursday, June 11th: During the Civic Fair part of the event (see), they had various represented cities do a performance (jazz band with drumming, Jamaican music to Beetles' "Yesterday", and various dancing from different parts of the country). One that sticked out was the group from Springfield, Ohio; they had a church choir sing "Kick the devil out of the City". It was a very soul-filling gospel music! I thought this was an awesome part of the Civic Fair, which was a seed planter of faith that the church community is part of the backbone (e.g. Chris Rock mentioned this in his movie) of the community.

Sunday, June 13th 2004-Worship Service (same as the atlanta trip website) I woke-up early on Sunday morning hoping to attend the famous Ebenezzer Baptist Church (service start @8am) , where Martin Luther King Jr. attended. Five years ago, I had an opportunity to visit here during a Impact Conference. I was too tired to get up as I was up till 2am packing after last nights adventure around town. I got up around 7:45am and ended up going to a nearby church service. In fact, I found this when I was touring the surrounding area earlier. It was a storefront church called "Universal Church: Stop Suffering Center" (205 Peachtree St.) 1.800.704.0194, located across the Westin Plaza. I made it in time (@9:15a) to see most of the service-45 of the 60 minutes. I was hoping to experience a happening' holly rollers service with some wake-up gospel music, but there was none in the vicinity of the Marriot (There was a Catholic Church and a Methodist Church started @11am a couple blocks from the hotel). I was able to hear part of the message that I missed, he talked about Harriet Tubman, famous African-American Women known for the Undeground Railroad. I felt the message was very life applicable-"What are you willing to sacrifice (time, money, bad friends-influences, materialism, etc...things that may distract you from your focus on growing in your relationship with God) to get your prayers answered (my interpretation of the sermon). After the service, there was another one-in Spanish. I then went back to the hotel to meet the others by 11:45am to ride the transit to the airport.

...more of Atlanta 2004 Trip Report

Throughout the trip in Atlanta, my group from the Morris Team witnessed many beggars asking for money. I told a sister in Christ that the Bible mentions "Silver or Gold I don't have, but I have Jesus", which many of them need. However, the church not only needs to share Jesus, we need to show how Jesus would help them get back on their feet. "We can give a man a fish that will last them a day, but if we teach them how to fish-it'll last them a lifetime!". I hope the churches of all our communities can live by this principle in making our community more of an "all heavenly-city"; not just an "all-american city"!

Despite not winning the ten finalist of 30 All American City Finalist, I was well pleased to get to know the various leaders of the Morris Team. I pray that this is just the beginning of a continuing growing relationship building of our community to work together and that "we would hold each other up" (saying encouragement from Dave Johnson, who critique our presentation) to this! This trip made me want to seek God more on how I and the church can be used more effectively in our communities-partnering in our common vision with others to make a difference in our different ways to do so.

  • There are 4 versions of Bill Number H.R.1913 for the 111th Congress,

  • "SEC. 2. FINDINGS.
    Congress makes the following findings:
    (1) The incidence of violence motivated by the actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability of the victim poses a serious national problem.
    (2) Such violence disrupts the tranquility and safety of communities and is deeply divisive.
    (3) State and local authorities are now and will continue to be responsible for prosecuting the overwhelming majority of violent crimes in the United States, including violent crimes motivated by bias. These authorities can carry out their responsibilities more effectively with greater Federal assistance.
    (4) Existing Federal law is inadequate to address this problem.
    (5) A prominent characteristic of a violent crime motivated by bias is that it devastates not just the actual victim and the family and friends of the victim, but frequently savages the community sharing the traits that caused the victim to be selected. (6) Such violence substantially affects interstate commerce in many ways, including the following:
    (A) The movement of members of targeted groups is impeded, and members of such groups are forced to move across State lines to escape the incidence or risk of such violence.
    (B) Members of targeted groups are prevented from purchasing goods and services, obtaining or sustaining employment, or participating in other commercial activity.
    (C) Perpetrators cross State lines to commit such violence.
    (D) Channels, facilities, and instrumentalities of interstate commerce are used to facilitate the commission of such violence.
    (E) Such violence is committed using articles that have traveled in interstate commerce.
    (7) For generations, the institutions of slavery and involuntary servitude were defined by the race, color, and ancestry of those held in bondage. Slavery and involuntary servitude were enforced, both prior to and after the adoption of the 13th amendment to the Constitution of the United States, through widespread public and private violence directed at persons because of their race, color, or ancestry, or perceived race, color, or ancestry. Accordingly, eliminating racially motivated violence is an important means of eliminating, to the extent possible, the badges, incidents, and relics of slavery and involuntary servitude.
    (8) Both at the time when the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments to the Constitution of the United States were adopted, and continuing to date, members of certain religious and national origin groups were and are perceived to be distinct `races'. Thus, in order to eliminate, to the extent possible, the badges, incidents, and relics of slavery, it is necessary to prohibit assaults on the basis of real or perceived religions or national origins, at least to the extent such religions or national origins were regarded as races at the time of the adoption of the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments to the Constitution of the United States.
    (9) Federal jurisdiction over certain violent crimes motivated by bias enables Federal, State, and local authorities to work together as partners in the investigation and prosecution of such crimes.
    (10) The problem of crimes motivated by bias is sufficiently serious, widespread, and interstate in nature as to warrant Federal assistance to States, local jurisdictions, and Indian tribes...

Analysis of 2009 Hate Crimes Bill, HR 1913, " Liberty University law professor Shawn Akers writes that if H.R. 1913, the federal "Hate Crimes bill, becomes law, local and state law enforcement would have the incentive of federal funds to prosecute cases involving preferred victims to the exclusion and neglect of less valuable victims. Membership in the "preferred" category is based not on immutable characteristics but on the class members choice of sexual conduct and subjective gender self-identity. .."
'Hate Crimes' passes House, USA Christians targets Posted: 5 May, 2009
"USA (MNN) ― H.R. 1913, which has been dubbed the federal hate crimes legislation, passed 249 to 175 in the U.S. Congress, paving the way to conspicuously curtail religious freedom in a country that espouses freedom.
The International human rights watchdog International Christian Concern is more than concerned. ICC's President Jeff King says with the House passage, "It now goes to the Senate Judiciary Committee. They're going to look at it. If they release it, it'll go to the Senate. If the Senate passes it (which we assume they will), if they pass the same version as the house, then it'll go to the President who will sign it. He won't veto it."
One of the most insidious and almost hidden dangers of the bill is that it could be used to halt the free speech of Catholic and protestant ministers alike as it pertains to the biblical teachings of homosexuality.
King says the pro-homosexual lobby or anyone else could cripple a church. "The bill can be used as a bludgeon against the church," he says. "You can bankrupt a church pretty easily when a lawsuit comes from the government. There [are] unlimited resources, and this thing is dangerous."
King adds, "It's a tool to come against the church, to silence it, in regards to Islam and homosexuality. There are people who hate us out there. And they have political friends, and they're going to put tools in place to silence us," he says.
Now is the time for Christians to get involved. "People have to do something or this thing is going to be put in place and, mark my words, some church is going to be targeted, or some pastor is going to be targeted."
While King says Christians need to pray, as well as take action. "It can be a cop out. I hate to say that. People can say, 'Oh, I'll just throw up a prayer, and that's it.' Christians are a majority in this country, but we're asleep. And if we'd just get up, get off the couch and pick up the phone, we can make a lot of noise. We could see a lot happen."
King thinks he knows why Christians aren't getting involved. "Their eye is off the ball. They're worried about the economy. They're worried about their jobs. Plus this bill sounds like a good thing. Who could be against 'hate speech'?"
King is asking you to call one or all of the following Senators: Herb Kohl, Arlen Specter, Dianne Feinstein, Orrin G. Hatch, Russell D. Feingold, Charles E. Grassley, Charles E. Schumer, Jon Kyl, Richard J. Durbin, Jeff Sessions, Benjamin L. Cardin, Lindsey Graham, Sheldon Whitehouse, John Cornyn, Ron Wyden, Tom Coburn, Amy Klobuchar, and Edward E. Kaufman.

President Bush won that after the Supreme Court issued a key 5-4 decision in his favor, with Rehnquist as part of the majority.

  • Grassfire's "Friend of the Court" brief supporting keeping the phrase "under God" in our Pledge of Allegiance
  • *an e-mail petition sent 2/6/2004
    Dear friend,

I have just signed Grassfire's "Friend of the Court" brief supporting keeping the phrase "under God" in our Pledge of Allegiance.

Grassfire has submitted this official brief to the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of hundreds of thousands of citizens who support the Pledge. Their goal is to rally 200,000 citizens who want their support of the Pledge noted in the official Supreme Court record of the case.

With the U.S. Supreme Court set to decide whether or not the phrase "under God" can stay in the Pledge on March 24, signing this important brief gives citizens like us one final opportunity to demonstrate our support for keeping the Pledge as it is.

I would be honored if you added your name with me to this historic document. It takes just moments, and it is absolutely free:

Thanks for taking action with me.
    Mr. Randall Buffie

P.S. After signing, please send this message to as many friends as you can, urging them to follow your lead by signing this brief.

    Prayer

Pray for President Bush (2000-2004 Term) through Presidential Prayer Team
    President Bush "Inner Strength"

"...1Ti 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 1Ti 2:2 For kings, and for all that are In authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 1Ti 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Rom 13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. Rom 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: Rom 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to Execute Wrath upon him that doeth evil. Rom 13:5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
