I've been to this state via road-trip with folks from my local church to a church camp in Tennesee around 2000 & 2001. Then in 2006, I attended a leadership conference in Baltimore, Maryland and met a university official from Louisville. It's now February 2007 and I decided to write more about this state after meeting a friend (Crystal, who is native american) from Louisville.
"home of the Army Armor Center and home to the U.S. Army Recruiting Command. Located just 35 miles from Louisville, Fort Knox encompasses 109,000 acres in three Kentucky counties. Fort Knox has a population of over 23,000 Soldiers, family members and civilians."

This facility is operated by the Treasury Department and is independent of the Army's operations there. However, it is likely that the post's security forces would assist the Treasury Department's security staff if needed." United States Bullion Depository-Wikipedia '..The United States Bullion Depository holds about 5,037.5 tons (4,570 metric tonnes) of gold bullion (147.3 million ounces [1]). It is second in the United States only to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's underground vault in Manhattan, which holds about 5,000 metric tons of gold in trust for many foreign nations, central banks and official international organizations."
"Our nine distinct regions offer the visitor a bounty of sights, scenery and activities from which to choose. Kentucky's geographical diversity encompasses the mountains of the eastern Appalachians, the lakes and rivers in the western part of the state and the rolling hills of the Central Kentucky Bluegrass. We're known for our bourbon and our thoroughbreds, but we're also known for our beautiful state parks where every sunrise and sunset is a new experience; our unique festivals, celebrating everything from bluegrass music to barbecue, and our historic sites, paying tribute to Daniel Boone, George Rogers Clark, Henry Clay, Abraham Lincoln and others who helped forge Kentucky's destiny.
Come experience all we have to offer."
