| I have been around them all my life. My father builds them and owns four at the moment. About two years ago, I finally got my own. It was a present. Since then I have been learning more and more about the mechanics of the bike. I have got hands on with the modifications of "my custom" 1987 Sportster. First off, the little peanut tank was not working. I only got around 75 miles to the gallon. So....we replaced it with four-gal fat bob tanks. Much better gas mileage for those long hauls to the Harley Rendezvous. I had the rear fender changed out as well to a chopped fat bob. I just love the look of it! The rear tire was changed from an 18 to a 16 so little me can back up a little easier. Right now I am awaiting help to put on my chrome kit and my forward controls. I would probably have them on already if I could just take it to the shop instead of riding all the time. :) Also, in the works is a custom chrome center plate for the tanks. I plan on putting a small speedometer in there and remove the awfull one from the handlebars. Hopefully this winter, I will save enough money to buy a completely different front end. I want a wide glide, but would settle for a mid glide. Won't that be different? Also I am thinking of pullback drag bars. To set the whole bike off....... you need paint. Right now it has a custom paint job. The tanks and fenders are black and they have a purple, metallic flake ghost flame. You should see that in the sun! WOW!!
