"How the Good Samaritan Turned Bad" is autobiographical in some ways.  I have been the Bad Samaritan.  And as long as I refuse to "pipe down", I suppose I will still remain one.

As the story shows, the pain and anger I have expressed out loud has been on behalf of others.   But curiously, 99 out of 100 people who heard me missed that fact.  No amount of pointing to the victims could move them from the conviction that my "problem" with the abuse was my own responsibility to work out with the abuser.  It's a mystery I have yet to solve.

But never mind.  This blog is for readers to express their own thoughts.

Do you see yourself somewhere in the story?  Is it an echo of your own personal experience?   Or - are you shocked at the idea that anything like this could possibly be happening among God's people?  Are you skeptical that any of this "fiction" could be based on real experience?

Feel free to respond here.

with blessings, Hannah

I read your story with such interest and since I was one of those that at one time thought Tsavuah was a good guy and I finally saw for myself what he was capable of I tried to get out from under his clutches. He basically tried to blackmail me and then I finally got away. What I tried to warn people of, which you just touched on in your story but I saw with my own eyes, was how he treated his wife and kids. Also, how he would make advances to other women and complain about his wife to other women to gain their sympathies. I used to feel sorry for his wife but learnt early on that she is 100% standing by her man no matter what, even if she can't stand the sight of him. And the worst part is that the people that are supposedly his friends (not true friends but those that take the money that he hands to them) know what goes on but refuse to do anything about it.

Thanks for the input, Survivor. Actually, "advances to other women" is a documented trend among abusive men. There's a website called "Bully OnLine", which includes "inappropriate attitudes" toward the opposite sex in their fascinating behavior profile of the habitual abuser (google "serial bully" and "profile" - it's the first hit to come up). An amazing list, with stuff like "convincing liar", and "Jekyll & Hyde personality". But this group (NOT believers) zeroed in on the spiritual side of Tsavuah: "is spiritually dead although may loudly profess some religious belief", and "displays a seemingly limitless demonic energy especially when engaged in attention-seeking activities or evasion of accountability."
The profile is worth a read.

With regard to "stout leaders," residing both in and out of "the Lord" it has been my experiemce that for the most part their stoutness usually only rises to the level of their financial and political supply lines which of course should say it all as for their spiritual supply lineswhich are devoid of much "real" faith. That is, their "leadership" is largely disceptive or all out fake. Depending on an alliance amoungst leadership to take action on anything that might truly protect the flock but possibly kick the pins out from under there own knees notwithstanding what you may have ever heard them say to the contrary in sermons or personal ministry - like we must die to ourselves, we must be willing to suffer as unto the Lord etc etc - is like depending on the sun not to rise in the morning. I am not usually one for insurrection but when scores of people have been intentionally victimized by a common enemy and their leaders - many of whom have also been victimized and are clearly aware of the carnage heaped upon them and their brethren - fail to act then in those cases the victims must act individually or corporately to save themselves or be willing to suffer death without complaint. I am reminded of the Ghetto uprisings. I am also reminded there were actually many successful escapes from nazi concentration camps and even trains to Auchwitz. I am not saying that going to the gas chambers meakly as the largley deceived lambs did was not honored by the Lord but I am sure he would also have honored rebellion amongst them as well. These escapes were made by innocents who were truly willing to suffer the risks of being caught for the good of their condemned brethren. The good was the prospect of being able to get the message to the outside world of the real time holocaust accuring. Of course allied leadership could have then taken positive action to end the carnage (through some well placed bombing raids) but failed to act in the perceived greater interest of ending the war first. Well folks, the leadship among us have had numerous opportunities to act - drop bombs if you will- but to this day they continue to only pay lip service to the victims. The ball is in our court, who wants to unite to take back the land we have all innocently ceded to the tyrant???

Hi Steve - good to see you logging in.

For the benefit of readers who don't know Steve's story, it would be good to give some context to his comments.
He and his wife (and several others) were victimized by a 3-year double lawsuit filed by a Tsavuah against them. It was someone with whom they had faithfully served in a ministry together, but who had put the ministry at legal risk; when the board removed him, he retaliated by suing them.
Tsavuah lost the lawsuit because his charges were groundless, but instead of moving on, he filed an appeal. The defendants have counter-sued because Tsavuah's public statements about them have ruined what was left of their ministry and reputations. (This is the context for Steve's signature as "defendant/counterclaimant".)
I should add that the court costs have run well into 6 figures for both sides, but whereas Steve and his colleagues have been paying from their pockets, Tsavuah appealed to other believers to finance his side, presenting himself as the victim. The ongoing appeal is evidence that he has succeeded in raising these funds... from believers, to use against other believers.
The whole mess has been going on for over 5 years. Meanwhile Tsavuah continues as a leader in another ministry. This is known to a whole sector of leaders in the Body. But 99% of those who know of it have remained silent about the abuse, and have avoided those he has wounded (and a few have even rebuked them for talking about the problem). For the whole 5 years, the abused people have been standing alone.
I'm just supplying the background so that any casual readers, who are tempted to dismiss Steve's comments as over-the-top, can keep in mind the tremendous strain that this family has been under.

Hannah's clarification is right on point although the over the top part never occurred to me but I am at a place where I no longer fear recriminations. It seems to me that our common enemy is just that because of his own over the top conduct toward believers who may be only used to seeing this agregious behavior exibited among non-believers. I believe my message speaks what many have been thinking. If enough of you start speaking it it will go away.
