Who are you?
[ Taken from Haisadiam’s June 17, 2000 fax message to the
Indiana Pacers in care of the Indianapolis Star: ]
Attached messages for reference (originally planned to be sent out
along with the June 16 message, but
hindered by the lack of a convenient printer):
I. Who are you?
To let you know from what a person has come the messages above and below,
a poem is attached. I am the author of the following poem, written right after
the spring, 1992 race riots in Los Angeles:
----By Blood Or By Spirit ?
Not again,
O no, not again––––
Let fires be not set,
Nor bullets be shot,
Among the folks
In the neighborhoods;
Let justice be not seduced
By bias in the court,
Nor raped
By riots in the streets;
Let force be not abused
Only to unleash anger,
Nor anger abused
Only to pump disorder.
And further, deeper,
Let the right and longing be not neglected
For respect and brotherhood
In Lincoln’s Heaven-rescued land;
Nor the differences be taken for granted
Between the livings and chances
Of the whites and the colored;
Let shallow be not our concern,
Nor short be our efforts,
In mending our society’s flaws
And helping our brethren countrymen––––
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine.
And finally,
Let America be not united only by blood,
Nor easily divided by skin hatred;
But will through ideals and cooperation,
On fairness and mutual respect,
Be united by spirit,
And guided by love,
So as to preserve and improve
A nation so great
As no other ones before in history,
In which people have made themselves free
And unprecedentedly rich
From sea to shining sea,
And as a living example and inspiring model
For all nations to learn and excel.
May God mend our every flaw,
Confirm our souls in self-control,
Our liberty in law.
And let America be forever
America the Beautiful,
With children in whatever color
To be loved by us all.

in spring, 1992.
( The lyric of the original song of “America The Beautiful”
was written by Katharine Lee Bates in 1904. )

This was the
message that got the hearts of some people at
Chicago
on December 17 and 18, 1997:
Help
me get Pippen, Please!
Is it too late?
Or never will it be too late
If we always give it a good try?
Please
help me send the following message
For Pippen to Pippen
As Soon As Possible
and
As effectively as possible.
Will faxing it to the Bulls’ office help?
Will having the fans and concerned folks
Call this morning to the Bulls’ office
Help–––while getting
people to know
The newest push and shove
As shown by the following message
To Scottie Pippen
Through the Chicago Bulls?
A
call (or fax) from you
Will surely help!
Not just make sure that
Pippen gets the message* early today,
But also that both he and the Bulls’ boss
Will make a harder try,
Or a better compromise,
To present a whole bull
For the sixth ring!
Worth a try!
(W. H. Haisadiam; December 17,
1997)
* Not just the following message
itself, but also the message behind
it, that why you will be
willing to give help.
December 16, 1997
Scottie:
Whatever people might say about it,
Whatever your boss, in grudges or in money-oriented sense of victory, or
in plain “Thank God all the buddies are back!” mood,
might think about you,
Why not settle down your own mind and soul in peace,
And enjoy the thing itself of playing basketball at your best , under the grace
of God on you not just in body, but also in your having known to do
good efforts to acquire the Scottie Pippen skills?
Money will come to you, anyway----together with respect and gratitude of
peoples while seeing great efforts to try tying a sixth ring to a bull, which
some people say is too old to get married again with the Lady Glory of
Victory.
Even better is: money will not bind you too much to feel and understand the
happiness and goal of playing basketball really well.
Really, really well!
- - - From W. H. Haisadiam,
a person who loves to see the Bulls
fight as a whole
to win the hand and dazzling smile
of Lady Glory
of NBA’s victory.

To let you know from what a person has come the message above, a poem is
attached.
A good message is a good message. Will it make a difference if you know
where it has come from? Sure!
Suppose this message had come from the President of the United States,
President Bill Clinton, or from an ex-President of America, President Ronald
Reagan, for example, would you not have been much more touched and inspired,
while feeling honored also in the meantime? And, moreover, would you not be
thus quite seriously affected on your final decision about whether or not you
would show up on December 17 to play for and with the Chicago Bulls again?
Attaching the poem “America The Beautiful----By Blood Or By Spirit?” is
merely to let you know this letter has come from the author of that poem, not at
all hinting that there’s ever anything of black-white feud in your contract dispute.
On the contrary, the poem, written right after the Los Angeles race riots in
the spring of 1992 after the controversial Rodney King verdict, has obviously
been dedicated to the belief and hope that “All races are equal” and “We are a
family in the house of God”.
May the poem be helpful for healing wounds, inspiring efforts, and promising
better future----so as to make the United States be really and
lastingly America
the Beautiful.
And, for the time being, may it help us give Pippen a hand to wave to him
and drag him, all so much heartily, to the Bulls’ team.

Now you know why on March 30 last year there’s a news about
Jordan’s coming back.
[ A fax sent out on the evening of March 29 to some people who could transfer the
message quickly to Jordan: ]
The Rule Need Not Be Changed.
How
come it’s possible?
IT IS POSSIBLE,
about
it now.
Yet
he will----for the sake of love:
Love for his children----he will feel
Owed to
someone;
Love for the game basketball;
and Love
for his countrymen and
his fans----after seeing
Clearly their earnest expectation
Of him has a noble cause for him
To meet with.
There is a rule in NBA that a boss of a team can not be a player in
the meantime. Well, the rule can be …detoured (in a broad sense,
and totally righteously and fittingly).
That rule need not be changed at all.
But I would like to tell you beforehand that, it’s
still possible for
Michael Jordan to come back
into the NBA games as the leading
player, not as a big-share
owner of an NBA team, even if he buys a lot
of the stocks of the
Charlotte Hornets in the next few weeks or months.
In that case he
will play in the Hornets instead of the Bulls.
( W. H. Haisadiam; March 29, 1999 ) - - - First faxed out.
IV.
Reach to a 2000 miracle of your own!
To
the Pacers:
Whether Jordan will come back or not belongs
to the question of next season.
In
next week, it’s your goal to
Reach
to a 2000 miracle of your own!
(
W. H. Haisadiam; June 17, 2000 )
