THAT 70's GIRL
A Film by Johnny Crash
Featuring Misty Mundae, Julian Wells, A.J. Khan, and Kelli Summers.
2003/ Seduction Cinema

I've never seen a full episode of "That 70's Show", but from what I observed, it's a comedy series. But while Seduction Cinema's "That 70's Girl" (much like their other film "The Girl Who Shagged Me") bears little similarity to the source material it takes its name from, it additionally is not a comedy. It's actually an attempt at making an old-school softcore flick reminiscent of the retro '70s stuff SC has been rereleasing on DVD for quite some time now.

In "That 70's Girl", Julian Wells and Kelli Summers (aka Suzi Lorraine) play two sisters sharing a house who are looking for a third roommate. These straight-laced career women are put to the test when Misty Mundae, playing the title hippie-chick character, shows up at their front door. How long do you think it takes for the sisters to let their hair down and start enjoying some weed & free love with their new guest? That's what I thought.

Aside from some crudely-animated psychedelic transition pieces and something of a Farrelly Brothers-type ending, there are very few laughs to be had in this flick. Perhaps you'll chuckle at the hippies putting weed in the brownie mix, but for me, the humor comes from the performances of Misty & Julian (A.J. Khan is unfortunately left with little to do, and Summers was still getting into her groove with this early acting gig), who remain definite characters throughout. Misty alters her voice and mannerisms to play the perfect stoner love child, and Wells shines in the scenes that require her goody-goody character to be high out of her skull. If you're a fan of these two, this is definitely one for your collection. Aside from that, it's the usual softcore antics from our friends at Seduction Cinema, complete with not one but two shower masturbation scenes.

DVD EXTRAS:
The disc contains an actual 70's sexploitation flick whose title I can't recall at this time. All I remember about it is that frequent Russ Meyer girl Uschi Digard is in it, and she is a knockout babe. The fact that she's in this makes it definitely worth your time. Additionally, there is a decently long feature with on-set interviews from Misty, Julian, A.J. and Kelly (conducted and shot by filmmaker Terry M. West).
