TERROR FIRMER (Directors Cut DVD) PLOT-A mysterious female is murdering the members of an independent film crew. VIOLENCE-No kidding...there's enough blood, guts, barf, severed body parts, and exploding heads in this movie to fill up a garbage truck. Maybe even more. SEX/NUDITY-Big ol jiggly breasts all over the place, two or three sex scenes, and a masturbation sequence involving the lead actress. Also, there's a lot of male nudity, and even some freaky prosthetic genitals. Nothing beats a naked fat guy running through Times Square. WHY I LIKED IT-Troma movies are well-known for being outrageous and gory, but this one is the absolute most disgusting and perverse thing they have ever done. For pure shock value, this is one of the best movies I've watched in a long time. I don't see how Troma could ever get any worse after this. In every scene, someone is either naked, cursing, puking, farting, shitting, or getting horribly mangled somehow. In other words, this is Troma's masterpiece! If you're a fan, you cannot afford to miss it. Because the film is based on Lloyd Kaufman's book ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FILMMAKING I LEARNED FROM THE TOXIC AVENGER, there's a lot of self-referential jokes. It's a movie about the making of a Troma movie, basically. And by the way, if you don't have that book, go get it. It's one of the funniest things you'll ever read. Bottom line here: TERROR FIRMER is the shit. DOWNSIDE-This movie is totally built around its shocking scenes and gags, so its structure is weird. Everything that happens is usually a set-up for something gross or violent, so there's not much in the way of plot or story. MEMORABLE SCENES-Director Lloyd Kaufman plays the movie director in the film, but his character is blind. There's one part where he walks into a restroom while a couple is having sex. He starts peeing all over the place, the stream is ridiculously long (and split in two?), and the couple are reapeatedly sprayed. DVD NOTES-This is a 2-disc set, pretty much the most impressive thing Troma has packaged yet. Disc 1 contains the film itself, which can be viewed in its original form or with the shitload of "deleted scenes" added back in. There's also 3 commentary tracks, including one with Kaufman and one with some of the main actors. Disc 2 has a "making of" feature, which is probably just as long as the movie itself, and there's also some music videos (along with the usual Troma extras).
