BARE WENCH PROJECT 2: SCARED TOPLESS (a.k.a. BOOK OF BABES)
PLOT-The sister of one of the girls who disappeared in the first movie leads a big search party to find her.
VIOLENCE-No blood, but a guy is hit by a van & stuffed into its septic tank, and someone gets shot & killed by a huge laser gun.
SEX/NUDITY-All the women in this movie are shown topless frequently, and fully nude at least twice. However, there isn't any simulated sex really. Just jiggly breats all over the place.
WHAT WAS GOOD-Nikki Fritz, returning from the original as her twin sister (also named Nikki for some reason), really is a great actor. She totally carries this movie, along with Griffen Drew (from DINOSAUR ISLAND and BIKINI HOE DOWN), my homegirl from Georgia. They totally outshine everybody else. And last but not least, Julie Strain reprises her role as the Bare Wench, which is spectacular. She is awesome in this just like every other movie, even if she only appears a couple times. As for the movie itself, there were a couple surprises that I liked, and Jim Wynorski is still a kick-ass movie director. He saved the cool shit for the last 15 minutes of the movie, and I was not disappointed.
WHAT SUCKED-First off, the fact that Julie K. Smith wasn't in it kind of bothered me because she was so good in the original. But the thing that really sucks about this movie is that most of it is basically a shot-for-shot remake of the first BARE WENCH film! It starts the same way, in the same hotel, and the same things happen for the first hour of the (80-minute) movie. The events occur in the same order (at what looked like the exact same location), the same shots are used, just with different girls in them. I have no idea why this was done, I kept hoping that it was a plot device. It wasn't. Everything is repeated almost verbatim from the first one, scene by scene. It was odd, but I still dug it because things are finally changed up big time in the last 15 minutes or so. Compared to the EROTIC WITCH films, the BARE WENCH ones are unfortunately inferior movies. They are just T&A stuff, with some exceptionally good actors here and there.
MEMORABLE SCENES-At one point, all the girls strip naked and cover each other with chocolate syrup. Instead of finding this sexy, I laughed like hell. I hope it was intentionally funny, because seeing these girls' asses with chocolate all over them made it look like they'd all shit on themselves. Very very funny.
NOTES-At the end of this film, it says that BARE WENCH GOES HAWAIIAN is coming soon. According to director Wynorski, filming on BARE WENCH 3 finished in September 2001, but it has nothing to do with Hawaii. Apparently, this time a group of girls head off into outer space while searching for ufo evidence. Julie Strain plays a "Bare Wench impersonator", and Nikki Fritz has a cameo.
UPDATE-As of August 2002, BARE WENCH 2 has yet to arrive on DVD or video. Moreover, there's been no sign of part 3 on the Gonzoriffic radar. I wonder what happened. Mr. Wynorski?
