| Hello! My name is Caramel and Im so glad you clicked on me. Even though I look completely healthy now, I was very badly starved and abused by my previous owner(s), as you can see in one of the pictures to the right. Since AAHA took me in, however, I have doubled my weight (I weighed only 30 lbs when I was first rescued!), developed a very healthy and shiny coat, and now have lots more energy to wag my tail. My nickname is Cara and I am around 3 years old; Im white and chocolate-red (one of my uncles said I kind of look like a cow it doesnt sound like a compliment, but how can it not be Im so cute!). I have an adorable patch on my right eye, a nice pink nose, and have even heard my eyes referred to as the sweetest eyes Ive ever seen. I learn very quickly and since Ive been in my foster home (since December) Ive learned not to jump on people or pull on the leash, and Ive also learned the commands sit, stay, come, crate, shake, off, leave it, drop it, and I can even fetch my toy if someone asks me where it is! My newest trick is where a treat is put on my nose and I sit and stay, and when my foster mom says my release word (okay) I catch the treat in my mouth without it touching the floor! Plus Im bilingual, and also know sit, stay, come, and shake in French. I am so well trained that, after having been told to sit and stay, I wont pick up a treat that is put right in front of me until I hear okay. Did I also mention I can catch a frisbee in mid-air? Im house trained and am used to being taken out to go to the bathroom three times a day in the morning around 8am, in the afternoon/early evening between 4 and 6pm, and in the evening between 10pm and midnight. If you choose to sleep late one morning, however, thats no problem; sometimes my foster mom is really lazy and sleeps to 11 and I just sleep along with her. In my foster moms home Im not allowed on the furniture, so I know thats a no-no (though if youre interested in adopting me and you dont mind, Ill put a good word in for you). My favorite thing to do (besides for sleeping and playing) is going for walks! The minute I get outside I am alert, head up and tail wagging non-stop. Although Im not good with other animals, Im very people-friendly. Whether its in the apartment or out on walks, I love getting attention from new people. Im so gentle that if my foster mom is playing with me and has one of my toys that Im trying to grab from her, when she puts her hand in front of my mouth as Im going for the toy, I close my mouth immediately and start licking her instead. Im a really great dog, though I know youll realize that the minute you meet me. If you want to know more about me or find out how to set up a visit, please contact my foster mom, Juliana, at [email protected] or call her at 410.366.2062. |
