Longest Friend
Remember when we said we'd always
be right there for one another
always
be together for forever
I didn't know you'd ever
be this far away...

Hold my hand
the way we did when we were six
the days when you would laughed at how
I couldn't say your name.
We told each other
we would never
let the other go.

But now you're gone
so far away.
All I can say is...
I want you here.
So you could tell me
everything
will be ok.

Remember how we laughed together,
raced across the yard together,
made a bond to be forever
friends.
Making paper cranes
beneath
the tablecloth where we would keep
candy wrappers, glue, and dreams.

Thirteen years have passed
I still look back to
when we ran to one another
when we were running from the past
we thought we'd left behind.

Though you're not my strongest friend,
you'll always be my longest friend
for sure we'll meet together
in the very end.

Your face hasn't really changed
that much
I wish we hadn't really changed
that much...

It's me that's gone
so far away
and now I can't say
I want you here
so you can help me
wipe these tears
away.

Let's be six again,
when everything was easier
we felt and didn't think as much
so if we could only just
erase the years between.

I'd run to you
tell you that we're friends forever
we would always be together
for, forever in those days
was so possible
and thirteen years seemed very
far away.
