PQ 2228 A38 1930
A woman
  maybe forty
in a smaller city here or there
dozed off one night that week
in the middle of a novel
in an old leather sofa
in the public library

Slouched in her seat
the book blocked her breath
which warmed her chest
with every soft exhale
exhale
   exhaale
      ex-haaale

She woke to find a different page
and someone's footsteps lightly near
a fuzzy feeling 'bout her tongue

and blinked
and wet her lips
she looked about
    around a moment

and wondered back
    confused
to when and how the time had gone
