Paul's Thoughts

Dave & Paul on Holiday in Corfu 2002

Firstly we all send our condolences to his family

A Special mention to Sue who looked after Dave so well. In his words she is an ANGEL

I’ll start with a quote from one of Dave’s favourites Bruce Lee……………

'The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering. '

Daves had a great life that is well worth remembering. He will be immortal in our memories, as none of us will ever forget the amazing & positive impact he has made on our lives.

Whilst we all still have our memories........he'll be with us for ever!

We all new he could be the happiest, brightest spark in the room.........or sit there with a face like thunder. Sometimes both of his moods were equally amusing.........

Regardless of the mood there was always plenty going on up stairs and the cogs were always turning, thinking, trying to work out what it was all about.

In the last few months, i think its fair to say, he gave us all a valuable insight into how strong and loving a person he was...........he was one in a million!!

I would like to read a poem sent by one of Dave's friends who can't be with us today due to work commitments in Palestine -

Do not stand at my grave and weep;

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints in snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there. I did not die.

Dave would never want us to feel as sad, as we do.............and when the tears stop we'll be laughing with him still

He will live on in all of us

Choice of Music: At the end of the funeral we hope that one of Dave’s favourite pieces of music will be played, it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but Dave loved it and he will certainly be LAUGHING if it is played. (Give the DJ a Break - Dynamix II)

I think Dave should have the final word:

Even when things were looking really bleak for Dave he was thinking of others

‘The most positive thing to come out of this, whatever happens, is that people around me who love me and who I love will re-evaluate what’s important to them’

On behalf of Dave I would ask you to all to re-evaluate what is important and also to live life to the full, as Dave did!
