Week Six Comments

    Week sixteen concerned mostly photography. Early photography I found to be very interesting in it's origin. The camera obscura was an artistic aid, and the ability to record an image was a revolutionary new way to create images, which up until now was monopolized by painting.

    Photography sparked debate in the 19th century about the issue of artistic originality. Photographers would claim that nature was the artists, but the skill of composition was still vital. Photographers such as Nadar would gain overnight commercial success with photography.
