Now that we're retired, I've improved the way I cook I don't have to go digging for that book Now Chili is the one thing I just love and adore You'd better open the windows and every door Now thinking I had everything right at my fingertips I could almost taste it in my watering mouth and lips Browning up the chopped meat, no onions can I add Cowboy doesn't like them, and that makes me mad Just about the time I needed the cumin, I had run out Now that made me upset, you could almost hear my shout I got into my trusty T-bird and raced to the store I couldn't wait to get out, but I couldn't open the door

When I just about got there, I came to a red light Looking in the mirror, I thought "Boy, what a sight!" I want you to know I had one thing on my mind I had to get that cumin fast; no time to be cute and kind Finally I got home, and back to my chili that awaited me I knew how to make it good and hot, all from memory A dash of salt and pepper, chili pepper, onion, garlic, all a must I had to get this finished, or surely I would bust Finally it came to dinner time, as Cowboy and I sat down to eat There came a knock at our door, the Avon lady I would greet By the time I got back to the table, my chili had turned cold Jeez, it's wicked when one must grow old

After all was said and done, thank God Cowboy went outside As for me, I just wanted to run and hide I must admit the chili turned out great, you can see I prayed I'd fall asleept back, before Cowboy came in bed with me Y'all know I love that man a lot, and I'll stick by him to the end He's my companion, lover, supported and best friend There isn't much I can't take, Lord, how great thou art I just can't stand to be so close to him when Cowboy starts to f---
