God bless America on this 4th of July
There are so many questions, but we can't ask why
Think of the brave children still fighting another war
Wishing they were back home, and doing a family chore
Freedom doesn't mean that our land is free
Yet God is always watching over you and me
Does He give His blessings, or do we see His tears
Why can't we learn the lesson He taught so many years
While some may think of fireworks or a picnic at the park
Some may be troubled still and living in the dark
See the Statue of Liberty, her torch is held high
She lights the many harbors in the evening sky
Lift up your hearts and think of those that passed away
Fighting for their freedom on a given day
The brave young hearts they had told a story of their own
How many of them gave up their lives and never made it home |
