| A Secret Little Hiding Place Copyright Alice E. Steimle - 2000 |
| There's a secret little hiding place that I visit now and then It takes me back to yesteryear, and I think of when I was a little girl growing up and seeing you I wanted to be with you, now and forever, that's true Time passed on, and years went by so quickly for us two That I never really realized time was almost over for you Soon I was married; had children, they're the apples of my eye Then I watched you growing older, and time was passing by I returned to that secret little hiding place that we two shared I wonder now if you knew what was in my heart, or cared You were too busy working, or watching your TV Sometimes I wondered if you really ever knew the real me Time went so swiftly by, the days grew cold You said that you were dying, and growing very old I never wanted to see that day, but God said it was so I watched you take the last breath, and then watched you go Now I'm at our secret hiding place, listening to the falls Tears running down my cheeks, while birds make their calls I do believe in Heaven, and I know that you are there Yes, Papa, I now know how very much you truly did care |
