| The day she came to him he knew her name Such a tiny blessing, nothing was the same He called her Rosebud from the very start This tiny blessing filled his heart The years sped by and Rosebud grew He knew the things that she'd go through Love shone in her sparkling eyes of blue He'd always hear, "Daddy, I love you" Watching her blossom from child to womanhood He knew she'd someday leave and understood Knowing she'd fall in love, have children of her own He stood by her as she had grown Now his days are numbered as he grows old Rosebud remembers the things he told To him Rosebud would be his only love As he prayed once again to God above |
