Differentiation of Logarithimic functions

Objectives:
  1. Pupils able to know  the facts about   logarithmic functions like- definition- properties-sketching
   2   Pupils able to find derivative of natural logarithm and  apply in fucntions involving llogarithm.
   3. Apply the derivative of logarithm in solving problems involving tangents, rate of change, maximum minimum values etc.

1. What is the domain of  lg x?

2. Whatis the range of ln (2x+1) ?

3. What is the domain of  lg (1-3x)?

4. Find the x intercepts of y = lg (1-3x),
      lg( x+3).
5  Find the derivative of
          i)  sin x ln(6x +3).
         ii)   lg (2x+1)
        iii)  ln( x cos x)
6. Skectch the graph of  lg(x+1). Hence                  solve the equation 2x-3 = lg(x+1)
