Skitchin
Some Info:

Skitchin or hitchin as it's called in some areas, is a very dangerous recreational activity.  Slippery road surfaces, a moving vehicle, and high speeds can spell diseaster.  Skitchin is very fun and exciting,  however you should keep in mind that it's very dangerous as well.  Please use common sense, and be aware of your sorroundings at all times.
SAFETY:  Last time I checked, skitchin is dangerous.  So before you head out on the ice, heres some important things you must have:
1. Wear a hat, jacket, boots, gloves, the heavier the better.
2. Use a car with 4WD or good tires (doesn't apply for us).
3. Have a driver that knows his/her vehicle.
4. Have a person to look after the skitcher (tailgunner), and        tell the driver when to speed  up/slow down.
ROLL OUT!

Wear as much protective clothing as possible, to seperate you from the pavement.  Do not wear boots/shoes that have good traction, and feel free to wear elbow/knee gaurds.  Remember that you will be landing on solid pavement, so don't be suprised if you break something!
TECHNIQUE:

Skitchin is done best with a heavy vehicle, such as a SUV.  Have a good sensible driver (yellow), and a tailgunner (red).  The tailgunners job is to look after the skitcher (blue) and tell him/her when to let go of the vehicle.  The driver must first inform the tailgunner when patches of bare pavement/holes are coming up, then the tailgunner relays this info to the skitcher.  The skitcher simply holds on to the rear bumper of the vehicle and crouches on his feet.  Then keeps hiself balanced while the vehicle starts to move.

NOTE: We do not take responsibility for injury, damage, or death due to skitchin!  This site simply shows what skitchin is like, and will not take responsibility for your damages if you choose to try skitchin!.
SUV's serve as the best vehicles, because they have a lift gate,  allowing for a person to sit in back and look after the skitcher.  This along with their heavy mass, and 4WD provides extra stability, which in turn means better safety on icy pavement.
