 “Our Calling”

2 Peter 1:3-11

If you have your Bible please follow along:

 V.3-4

- Divine power – He wants us to have it, we have that opportunity for a reason.

- God’s Power is everything we need for life, Notice it didn’t say food or water etc. etc. If God is above all else in our life and we utilize His power, all other things in life will just fall into place.

- Through our knowledge of Him – God’s power comes through our knowledge of Him. Our knowledge of God comes from His word. Reading God’s word and being in God gives us His awesome power.

 - “Glory….goodness.” When we look at God, it should be an attitude of reverence and reflection; reverence of His glory and reflection of His goodness.

- Through all this, the passage says we escape condemnation and live a life of satisfaction.

 V.5-9

- Because we can, it says make every effort to add all the attributes of Godliness.

- Notice love is the last on mentioned; it’s the building block of the Christian faith.

- “These qualities will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive.” These qualities will make us stuards of the Cross, in other words we can live in Christ 24/7. When you live in Christ you are satisfied, so therefore these qualities will most certainly grant lifelong satisfaction.

- It says if someone turns away form the pursuit of thee qualities they must have forgotten what it was like, I alone can tell you it’s the single most challenging yet wonderful thing that a human could possibly do on earth.

 V.10-11

- Eager, is a strong word here, we should be eager to expand our Christian faith.

- Making our calling sure – this may be the best possible disciple of God you can be all the time because you want to be the best when God calls you Home.

- “You will never fall” – no one is perfect; and we all do stupid things but those listed qualities are the “Road Map” to perfection like Jesus. We as Christians should strive for that goal even though we know we will fall many times along the way.

- “Rich welcome” – God knows what you do all the time; He knows if it’s bad or good. When you do good He’s always adding to your rewards when you get to heaven.

All that I have expressed is exactly how a great life can be lived. Strive to fulfill those listed qualities in every aspect of your life. Have faith, and put God above all else in your life. When you do this, all else will just take care of itself. God loves you, its our obligation to love others. He died for you, so live for Him.
