lightning strikes the ground outside
the cold night air is cirlcing about
forgotten inside she holds on tight
the cries unheard have failed again

shes trapped in her cell
her bed at her side
terrified and alone
lights sprint away once more

abandoned at age five
her teddy in her hands
love and hope barely there
her pain drips at her feet

she had done nothing wrong
tiny victim of neglect
thank her parents for this
they never looked back
