Dropsy: Symtoms: Swollen body, scales look like a pin cushion Treatment: Water Changes. Recovery of dropsy is rare Fin Rot: Symtoms: Reddend or inflamed rays: torn or disinigrated fins. WARNING: THIS IS CONTAGIOUS Treatment: Take the fish out of the tank immediatly to a hospital tank(that should already be set up and the water is treated) Add 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt every 5 gallons, this should help the fish.This should be treated with medications. Freshwater ich or ick symtoms: white spots that looks like salt. They also rub aginst the gravel and plants Treatment: Aquarium salt and there are also medications out there to treat ich or ick. hole in the head symtoms: hole in the head filled with puss treatment: medication that needs to be in a Clean tank with the fish(s) Swim Bladder |

Beacause aquarium salt keeps the slime coat on the fish which helps build up the fish's immune sustem so they can fight harmful diseases. |
