The Tiniest Fairy In The Whole World

Once upon a time there was a fairy so tiny, that she appeared to be a mere spec of light.� True....she was a perfectly bright,
and a perfectly BEAUTIFUL spec of light, but so unbelievably tiny, that no human could see her!�
"Big fairies are seen by humans!" she mourned. "And sometimes they are even heard by humans!"...a tear formed in her little
diamond-bright eye. "I wonder if I have any effect on humans, AT ALL!"
This made the tiniest fairy feel very sad, because she LIVED to give the humans her light.
"I feel like such a failure!" she thought. "But I mustn't dwell on that! ..... It will only serve to dampen my light!"
So the tiniest fairy continued to offer her beautiful little light, where ever it was needed. When there was an argument between
families, she was there. When a big brother picked on a little sister, she was there.
Sometimes she felt she had grown a bit. And at other times she felt she was simply DESTINED to be the tiniest fairy in the whole world. "Oh well!" she sighed. If my destiny is to be the tiniest fairy in the whole world, I will be the tiniest and the BEST fairy in the whole world! And that's that!"
Then one day, an event occurred which was bound to effect
everyone.....fairy people and human people alike.�
A powerful ruler was appointed king of all the human world! He tried to be kind and gracious to everyone but it was apparent that there were moments when he was not so kind, and far from
gracious.
The humans were alarmed by these occasional lapses in good
behavior, because they had believed he were more divine than
human. Now they realized he was as human as they were, and
although it wasn't fair to the King, who had never said he was a god, they felt betrayed.
The situation worsened when they actually started to fear him. Fear is catching! Just like the flu! And the humans were passing it around from one person to another!
"What have we DONE!" some said. "We've made him King of the World and now he's waaaay too powerful!" "He's SCARY, and I've heard that he has SPECIAL POWERS!" said others. "We are DOOMED!" they wailed.
These words, whether they were true or not, chilled the hearts
of many. While some people were kind and brave, lots of them
were letting fear turn them into vicious cowards....turning on
everyone....! Now THEY were something to fear!
The fairies were frantic! All fairies love humans and it's this love that gives meaning to their lives. A fairy lives to help humans.�
Looking down on the land, they saw, through their fairy eyes, an ominous sign. Darkness was everywhere....It darkened the light of day, so that it seemed the nighttime never ended.
"The fear-sickness is spreading so quickly!" said the fairies. "Nothing like this has been seen before!"
In truth, the fairies, themselves, were suffering from fear. It did not affect their HEARTS, as it did human hearts, but it was definitely clouding their MINDS!
A Session was called in the Great Council of Fairies, for, alas, a
terrible decision was about to be made.
"If there is total darkness on the planet there is no hope!" said the Leader of the Great Council. "We must go where we can do some good!"
"On the other hand" said a lower ranking Counselor, "If there IS hope, we must stay!"
Finally, a decision was made and it was a sad decision. The
Counselors announced that the entire Fairy Kingdom would find a new home.
The tiniest fairy could not believe it! She felt she could not stand the pain in her heart. Knowing she was not alone in this.... that every fairy, big and small, was feeling exactly the same thing.....didn't ease her sorrow.
They were to leave immediately.....that very day, in fact.
At dusk, they gathered, and what a sight it was!� Fairies by the
millions... maybe trillions.......awaited the hour of departure.
But.....(Of course)... the tiniest fairy insisted on staying until the very last moment.
"If I MUST go, I will go!" she said, "but I will be the LAST fairy to leave here!"
As they began departing, she watched.... but she did not move.
As the Great Council Members departed, she watched....but still she did not move.
When she was the last fairy on the planet, she still lingered. She wanted to hold on to the hope that SOMETHING would stop this from happening! "Who better to believe in miracles, than a fairy!"
That's when she made her decision to try something VERY bold!
"Why didn't I think of this BEFORE!"....Why didn't ANYBODY think of this before!"
The tiniest fairy was inspired! She would go straight to the source of this problem! ....To the King of the Human World.
This, in fairy-time, took less than a blink of an eye.
Fairies travel on thought beams, and the moment she came up with the idea, she found herself THERE!.....Standing RIGHT in front of King.
And, you'll never guess what happened next!�
When the tiniest fairy looked at the King, he looked BACK at her!
In fact, he looked right into her perfect little diamond eyes, and the� sight melted his heart!�
Of COURSE, the tiniest fairy realized what had happened to HIM. It could be seen, VERY clearly. She saw it in the light that was
coming from his face....and from his eyes!
But at that moment, she was overpowered by the realization that something WONDERFUL had happened to HER!
All she could say to the King was, "You SEE me!" She was so
excited, she just blurted it out!
"You SEE me, and you are the first human to EVER see me!"
"I'm honored." said the King. And let me be the first human to tell
you that you are very beautiful!"
"And you HEAR me, too?"
"Yes!" said the King. "You mean you can't be heard, either!?
That must be terrible for you!"
Slowly, even timidly, he smiled, and then continued...."I AM honored! .... "Maybe we can work on this!" .... Don't tell anyone, but I have some special powers."
"Oh...reeeeally?" responded the tiniest fairy! ...."Actually, I believe
I've heard a thing or two about that."
The tiniest fairy went on .....� "Your Majesty, some people are afraid of you, but YOU'RE not so scary! Not at ALL!
"Nice of you to say so!" laughed the King! "But, scared of me?"
he said, with a puzzled expression. "Did you just say that some people are SCARED of me?"
At that instant, the tiniest fairy knew she was going to stay on this planet! In fact, she knew that SHE, the tiniest fairy in the world, was going to stay right here, with the King of the World! .... for as long as he needed her. "THIS is my destiny!"
Somehow, she transmitted the thought to the King, (In a manner that only a fairy would understand.) and it melted his heart even
further. An enormous light radiated from him!
"I bet the fairies saw that light!" thought the tiniest fairy.
"And that's when the High Counselor of the Fairies appeared before them. "I was just think about you, tiny fairy...and wondering why
you did not depart with the others!"
"Hello!" said the tiniest fairy! "I'm SO glad you're here! Let me
introduce you to the King of the World!"
"King", she said, "This is the Leader of the Grand Council of Fairies."
"How do you do!" said the King.
"How could this BE?" said the High Counselor. "You're not so scary! Not at all!"
"So I've heard!" said the King, smiling at the tiniest fairy.
"But, I just gave the order for all the fairies to leave this planet due
to the...Uh....
(The tiniest fairy was grateful that diplomacy silenced the High
Counselor before he said more.)
"How very sad!" said the King.
"Exactly!" said the High Counselor. "But we're BACK!"�
And outside, a trillion fairy voices sang out in unison... "We're BACK! We're BACK! And we owe it all to the tiniest fairy in the whole world!"�
The tiniest fairy was so proud of herself that she *beamed* and
*beamed* and *BEAMED*.......she beamed so brightly, that
although she was still "tiny", her light became as powerful as a laser light! Fairies in far off galaxies could see it!
"Awesome!" said the King. I will teach you how to use your
fairy-ness to amplify and direct your light! And you can teach ME how to use my humanity to amplify and direct my own.�
As the years passed, the King (with a little help from his fairy)
became the best ruler the humans had ever known!� By teaching his people about love, and kindness, the planet became FILLED with laughter and light! ...
And, of course, everyone (especially the tiniest fairy in the whole world) lived happily everafter!
