The Little Green Princess

There was once a Princess named Tara, who was the� daughter of a powerful King and Queen. She was so very
beautiful, that when she entered a room, all eyes were upon her, & her alone.
Some of her friends.... three young ladies in particular... were green with envy! They felt that no one ever noticed THEM, the way they noticed Tara! "It's not fair!" they said. She sees us being ignored, and she LIKES it that way! They were so angry that they vowed to get even with her!
In truth, Tara didn't really notice how they felt! She'd always been beautiful, even as a baby, & she simply took this
special treatment for granted.�
One day the three girls decided to put their plan for revenge
into action! They hired a Wizard to destroy Tara's beauty! They arranged to meet the Wizard in the forest, & when they told him what they wanted him to do, he said, with dismay, "But her beauty is a true reflection of the kindness of her soul!"
This made them start beating on his head with their fists! "There are OTHER Wizards in this forest, old man!", they screeched.
Shielding himself from their blows, he said,"But EVERYONE knows this! Even the Wee Folk tell me how much they love her!...How very sweet she is!...How caring!"
"So what! DO something! NOW!" they yelled.
Reluctantly, he agreed, but only because he was forming a plan of his own! Silently, he thought to himself..."With a little luck, I'll help Tara, and at the same time, I'll teach these three little ladies a much needed lesson!"
Aloud, he said, "Here's is what I'll do... I am going to turn her a bright shade of green, and I promise you, she'll� look QUITE unattractive! BUT.....And the girls said, "But?"....
But WHAT??"
"Well, he continued, there's just one little problem..the elves & fairies are NOT going to like this! To soften their anger, I'll add an Escape Clause."
The girl's eyes narrowed, but he went on as if he hadn't
noticed. "If Tara can find a Prince to kiss her, in her state of green ugliness, the spell will be broken. Agreed?"
"DO IT!" they said! She'll NEVER get ANYONE to kiss her when she looks like that! Let alone a PRINCE! And they laughed at the prospect of an UGLY GREEN Tara, searching
high and low for her "prince"!
Tara was alone in her room, at the moment all this was
taking place. She was sitting at her dressing table, combing her long black hair, when, to her HORROR, she suddenly
turned as green as a leaf! From head to toe, she was green!
"Oh NOoooooo"! she cried.
Being the person she was, Tara's first thought was for her
parents.
"I must spare my parents the shock of seeing me like this!" She wrote a note & propped it up on the dressing table. It said,
"Nana was here, and asked me to spend a month with her in the countryside. See you then. Love, Tara " There were no phones...no mailmen...in the days of the princess, so she knew they couldn't check on her.
She covered herself in a cloak & ran from the castle, to hide in the forest! "The elves & fairies will shelter me!" she thought.
And so they did....as best they could...but the Princess was very lonely.
To ease her loneliness, the Wee-Folk taught her to speak to the forest animals, & one of these animals... a cute little frog... was especially fond of her. He showed her his favorite pond, & they spent hours and hours gazing at their green
reflections!
"We match!" said the little frog, and this made The Princess
laugh! You are so cute and funny that I could just KISS you, she said!
And then a REALLY funny thing happened! The frog jumped up and KISSED her!
Then an even FUNNIER, and STRANGER thing happened... she kissed him back!
Embarrassed, they both bowed their heads, & stared at the water, but when they saw their reflections, neither of them
could believe their eyes!
Looking back at them were TWO people....Not just a frog and a Princess....There were TWO people! Two reflections!� One was a rosy Princess...no longer green.... & the other was a handsome Prince!
They turned & looked at each other, and the Prince said,
"A Wizard's spell turned me into a frog, but the spell had an Escape Clause. It could be broken by a kiss from a Princess!
"My Goodness!" said the Princess. "That has a familiar ring
to it."
When the couple returned to the Castle, the jealous girls turned green ... & this time it wasn't just with envy, and it
wasn't just because they were sick at the sight of the rosy
Princess.
The Wizard had made a magic dust! He'd used the money from the girls to hire three invisible elves to follow them
everywhere they went. It was their job to blow the magic dust in their faces each time the girls had a mean and
jealous thought. The dust made them sick...sick...sick!
Without realizing exactly why, they began avoid those thoughts. Their jealousy faded. And as their jealousy faded, their inner beauty began to show itself.
Tara, not being one to hold a grudge, decided to forget
everything about the episode.....everything, that is, except the Prince.
The handsome Prince moved into the palace, and when they were old enough, Tara & he were wed.
Soon they were the parents of an adorable little boy-child, who had just one tiny little flaw.
Every time he got the hiccups he said, "Ribbit! Ribbit!"
