GOLDEN SOUTH BRANCH INC. NOVEMBER/DECEMBER NEWSLETTER 2008 Dear Member Organisations, Parents, Players and Supporters, This will be the last newsletter for 2008. When I reflect the region has achieved so much in the last eight months. These achievements would not happen without the support of many people. Some visible some not so. To you all I say thank you. The focus for 2008 was communication, coach education and the Golden South Jaguars. I feel we built on the already established foundation created by those before and begun to firmly cement the region’s role. As you have noticed in the right hand corner this logo will clearly identify the region when promoting all regional activities. In the other corner is the Golden South Jaguars logo. Both symbols I hope will become known within the region. General meetings this year were well attended and every association hosted the general meetings. Unfortunately we ran out of time to enable Murwillumbah to host but they will in 2009. Meetings were held every two months with an Executive meeting held in between. Congratulations to all athletes from the Junior Jags, Ergon Energy Netball Academy and the Golden South Jaguars for their participation, sportsmanship and play. The Region congratulates and acknowledges individual athletes who were selected for various representative honors. It was attended by 51 players 13-16yrs of age. Academy players were also in attendance to help promote the pathway for players. It was an overwhelming response. Nearly all associations were represented and it was great to see so many different faces. The invited coaches were Vicki Wilson, Patti Farrell, Amanda Stagg, Di McDonald, Nicole Cussack as well as EEC JAGS coaches Cathy Gigas and Terry Collingburn. All were impressed with the talent within the region. Karen Van Heerden (physio) and Selena Chan (Nutritionist) and Jeff Murray (fitness guru) also participated in the clinic and were great. Vicki wants to come again she said she thoroughly enjoyed it!! The energy over the two days was very high the players left saying things like “that was awesome’ ‘didn’t know about that’ and still laughing at the end. It was successful due to the players’ commitment and willingness to learn. I congratulate every player on their participation, it was a pleasure to be part of.
