WPE Mistro, or Smokey as we call him, is a gorgeous dapple grey Spanish PRE Andalusian stallion that stands at sixteen hands. He was born in the year 2000, and we got to bring him home in October of 2008. When we first saw Smokey we were so excited, this boy has so much talent in the world of dressage and his conformation - wow! We had been mulling over getting back to our routes of Spanish horses since we are Spanish and come from Andalusia. When we saw Smokey, and his good friend Rusty for sale at Blackwell Farm we jumped at the change to purchase them both! Smokey has such a good temprement he is just a complete sweetheart. Sired by Mestrella out of Xenopha, Smokey has inherited his sire classic conformation and his dam's natural beauty. When we got this boy under saddle he took our breath away even further. He moved so gracefully, with such style and finesse that we were spellbound. Smokey is trained in Grand Prix Dressage, English Pleasure, and Ladies Sidesaddle. He excells in each one, and really has amazing talent. We couldn't have asked for a better Andalusian stallion, especially a Spanish PRE, and he really is close to Rusty. The pair are always stabled next to each other and turned out in the same paddock. The only time the pair may not get along is during breeding season which is understandable really.
In the future we intend to breed Smokey to our friesian, arabian, and other non-Andalusian mares for fabulous crossbreds, as well as to some Andalusian mares for purebreds once we get a few in. We are positive that Smokey will throw noble looking babies with that natural flair for dressage that he has. He is very intelligent and we expect his babies to be as well. Given the opportunity Smokey will open his stall door and walk out however we have given him a rubber yellow ball as well as a thick rope which he can play tug of war with. Smokey is also very fond of playing not only with Rusty but with the older Bernese Mountain Dog Mozart. The trio are often found frolicking in the paddock. Infact Smokey absolutely loves being outside, especially on a sunny day when he can sunbathe flat out with Mozart. It is very adorable to watch. When Smokey is taken out for a ride he can get exciteable, especially on a sunny day, and can always be seen prancing excitedly before he is taken out on the trails. Smokey is a real star, and one everyone actually adores both at JB, but at Avalon and Akmal too. This guy is really soppy, and for a stallion this boy is so very gentle. He's even great as a beginner horse for people who don't know how to ride and children! Smokey really is a one in a million horse and one we already adore. He is actually a favourite here, so much so people are always competing to ride him. Smokey and Rusty are ambassadors to the Andalusian breed, and we couldn't have chosen two more perfect stallions. The girls here at JB are already swooning over Smokey and Rusty. Smokey is the senior stallion out of the pair, and really does show his maturity. He is calm, gentle, friendly, hard working and really does all he can to please. Smokey's favourite trick right now is bowing, he really loves to do it and loves the response he gets when he does do it. Smokey and Rusty are currently in training to perform together as a pair, and we must say they are doing incredibly well. They just get on so well, and Rusty seems to be learning a lot from Smokey even though both stallions do completely different disciplines. Variety is the spice of life.
