| The legend, the original, everything that Dr. No is, has been a template for other movies for years. And with good reason! The action is good, the stunts (though extremely minimal) good, the acting...unheard of. Never has anybody seen an actor playing the attitudes of smooth, sensual, and rough, hard all at the same time. Everything in Dr. No is great, minus the majority of the soundtrack, which I find to be quite uninspired. The good stuff is, OBVIOUSLY, The James Bond Theme! The only scene that I find to be ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS is the casino scene where you can barely see anybody because of all the smoke! I know that it used to be usual, all that smoke and all, but it's still hard to watch in my opinion. But the movie is great and that's what makes it uniquie to it's time! All that aside there is something rather disapointing...and, well, it's not the movie. A lot of people don't really appreciate Dr. No because the first Bond movie that they see is an intense shooter like Goldeneye or some other Brosnan film, instead of a good, mysterious, crime solver movie, like Dr. No! |
