Introduction
From what the Surfaces visual qualities looked like, it was very much the same of the Surface known to GoldenEye today. Many texturemaps were redesigned during the development stages, but the basic outline had stayed the same. Very few changes were infact done, except the fact that the entrance to the Bunker was made for you to enter through the main door at the helipad. Many trees had actually stuck out from within the walls of the Surface, which brough a more realism to the level. As well, the level had a very thick fog almost to make it look as if it were snowing. However, this was infact a way to hid parts of the level which disappears because the game couldn't handle the amount of polygons on screen. However, many advanced changes were made for the capabilities of the N64 while GoldenEye was produced. So, basically they had removed the thick fog from the level.

Gain Entry to the Bunker - For the origional Surface you were expected to blow open the locks atop the ventilation tower to gain access to the Bunker. However, the team of GoldenEye never pre-planned every level, so in fact, the second Surface wasn't going to be a level. However, in the Beta Surface, the ventilation tower did not have a ladder leading to the top to gain access, making the conclusion that there was no possible means to gain access, excpet through the main door at the helipad. Basically, you would complete all objectives, as well as disactivating the Communications Dish, and then enter the Bunker from the helipad, which would then go to the ending sequence. However, they had removed this because it wouldn't work where Bond would just run into the main entrance of the Bunker and open fire. So, deciding to make this all work out properly, they would make the entrance through the ventilation tower for a silent approach. Also, they had concluded that they would make Bond appear back into this level at another point of time in the game.

Ending Sequence
Considdering the fact that you were to enter through the main entrance of the helipad, the ending sequence was much simular as to the second Surface ending, except the fact that you were not captured by any guards. It would show a view from outside the door looking at Bond while he entered. Bond would run down the stairs as the door closed from behind him. However, since the fact that the Bunker was required to enter through the ventilation tower, they had quickly re-created the ending sequence to what it if of the Surface now.
