Introduction
This section full-fills the very main rumors which surrounded GoldenEye, and of which still do. GoldenEye is one of the best games for rumors, these of which have slightly been explained and resolved by Rare themselves, although a few are still left unsolved.
All Bonds in Multiplayer
One of the largest and most interesting mysteries/rumors of GoldenEye is the access to the three (out of four) Bonds from the old James Bond movies in multiplayer. These would include Sean Connery, Timothy Dalton, and Roger Moore, although Goerge Lazenby wasn't preplanned for
Multiplayer. However, during production of GoldenEye, the team had created only Sean Connery untill it was realized that they needed to remove for legal resons. The other characters were infact going to be created in the game, but conisddering that the GoldenEye team found out that they couldn't release them, they believed it wasn't worth the time to create for no reason. However, the team of GoldenEye had a deathmatch which was video taped with Sean Connery before he was removed from the game. You can download this movie by clicking here.
Using a gameshark, it is possible to access the pictures of the three Bonds. Although, considdering that the GoldenEye team had never created either the costume nor heads, except Sean Connery, it isn't possible to access these through Gameshark. However, it might still be possible to access Sean Connery through gameshark, although no code has been released nor found.
In an old issue of an official gaming magazine (MGM I believe) it had consisted of an April fools joke code. This code was infact the "All Bonds (Mulit)" cheat, even though "Line Mode" was infact origionally in replace of the 24th cheat slot. They had stated this as how to activate the cheat: Beat Aztec on 00 Agent mode in 9 minutes with Enemy settings at 200% health, 100% accuracy, and 100% reaction speed. This from which would activate the 24th cheat. In this magazine included a few screen shots (created by the magazine company) to make belief that there was infact a cheat like this. Although, you can notice that the picture below (left) is infact a fake because by activating the pictures of the old Bonds, these looked much different then in the magazine picture. As well, the picture below shows the charcters actually in the Temple of Multiplayer. This is infact also a fake. I have no exact idea how they did it, but as you can see, Sean Connery has a much different suit then in many other real Beta pictures. Here is the following as to who each of the characters were supposed to be in the picture below: Timothy Dalton is in the white tux, George Lazenby is in the blackish blue suit, Roger Moore is in the black suit with a tie, and lastly, Sean Connery is in the grey tux.
Oddjob and Mayday
This was one of the most carried away rumors of GoldenEye. However, these charcters were infact never even in the game, and still are not. The team of GoldenEye had never pre-planned any of the two villians to actually be confronted in any point of the game. Though, many people still believe and claim that they have found one of the two villians somewhere within the game. Although, it is basiaclly all lies.
Many people believed that Mayday was infact able to be found somwhere in the Water Caverns, and Oddjob was to be found in many numerous levels. Although, these are all just fabled lies and fakes. Rare had infact stated that neither Mayday nor Oddjob are of any location within GoldenEye. Even though, I believe they were just characters created for multiplayer because they had very distinctive and oddness to them, such as sizing.
There is also belief that even though they were never in the mission mode, not even during the Beta stages, that they were going to infact make more add-on missions where you may be able to come across these villains. I also remember reading in an article during the production of GoldenEye that you would also be able to confront other villains, such as Dr.No, during parts of the game. As well, there are indications that there were plans for extra levels from the old Bond movies, however the time that the game took resulted that t couldn't be started.
Citadel
Even though this may not be a rumor but more of a mystery, the part about the Citadel that which is a rumor is that infact people believed it was a main level of which replaced the Temple. Although, the Citadel was a basic rough test for the Multiplayer when they started this section of GoldenEye.
I have heard word from a tun of sites about information for what the level was like, what objectives it consisted of, what type of enemys, etc. Although, all this information is basically made up for the viewers so that it can attract more new-commers, getting more hits for their site. Though, the trueth is that it was a basic multiplayer test level which was infact never had been finished.
There is a way though to access the levels name through Gameshark. There are two though, one which is "Citadel" and one which is "CITADEL". This conforms the capital letters that it was a multiplayer level.
