I've always wanted to live
by a beach and leave
the muddy Mississippi.
Rolling down
that ole' man river
that just keeps you
rolling on.

Imagining, traveling to
another land where
the oranges grow
and the juice is sweet
and the wine does flow.
Where the palm trees
are tall and the
water is clear, and
someone's there who's dear.

I imagine a mountain high
and the rushing of a wave
on a sandy beach
to give me peace,
Or riding upon a raft
and picking sea shells
as the sun goes down
as I listen to you laugh.
Watching you
within the tent
camped outside
the river bend,
smoking barbecue
sizzling into
a dreamy land.

There's sunsets there
like I've never seen.
The crime rate's
high in my city,
and the stripper's
have no shame.
The beer is pouring
down like the rain.
And Jack Daniel is
walking the streets
everywhere.
Mardi Gras is exciting,
but, stay off the streets
or the crowds
will stomp you down.

The sin you'll see
is not so sweet.
The jazz is playing
and that's all right
makes me have
Dottie's blues tonight.

People here
are lazy faire'.
They do just
anything on a dare.
And there goes some men
in lady's skirts.
The city light's are
shining brightly
and Satan's music's
in the air.

I feel a hurricane
coming on
I hope it don't
take the city down.
before the break of dawn.

It's scary to
be a helpless me
and be here all alone.
Lucky you,
to look out
your door and
see the beauty
of the Lord.

And when you
wish upon a star,
Please make a
wish for me!
That God will put
me where-ever I
should be.
And ask him what
is in His plan
for you and me.
