Golden Poem

Look What You Have Done

By Elaine Johnson

2002

Horace and Malinda, Look What You Have Done!

Look at this sea of offspring from your daughters and your sons.

You planted the precious seeds.

You cared for, and saw to all of their needs.

With your own mighty hands,

You worked the land, and your precious black seeds continued to grow.

We've blossomed and grown from your excellent care.

Never forgetting the strong hands that got us here.

God, in his great wisdom has taken some of your outstanding crop.

But he provided us with more seed so that the growing never stops.

So look at your doctors, your lawyers, your teachers,

your carpenters and nurses, business leaders and preachers!

Horace and Malinda, take a good look, and we hope with pride,

You'll realize that you were the source and energy that guides.

We honor you now and because our history teaches us,

From the very beginning, Golden family gatherings have been an absolute must!

So Horace and Malinda, Look What You've Done,

124 years later, and still we come.
