Echoes
of Angels
Part
1
Boom!
Flashes of light and pain, intense pain… that was the last thing I remember
before fading away.
I hear voices, why are they so muffled? “She is dying… but I think
that Orion would make it through…” I feel as though I am slipping away.
Someone is prodding
me. “Mm…” “Wake up lazy bones!” Opening my eyes I see her…
“Dominique?” “Of course you stupid!” she says with a laugh, throwing her
arms around me, giggling. Slowly I wrap mine around her. I
genteelly bury my face into her hair. “You know something Dominique?”
“Hm?” she mummers, leaning closer into my embrace. “I heard that you were
dying… I was so afraid to lose you…” Looking up at me she smiles, “I
would not leave you for anything. I’ll never leave you Orion.” “Mm…
good. I’d never want you to leave me.” Slowly but surely she gets up and
leads me to kitchen for breakfast. As we eat I find myself unable to tear my
gaze away from her, I love her so much. There is this stupid grin on my face,
that is what you get from loving your girlfriend too much I guess. Soon
breakfast is over, I didn’t even notice it. As she clears up the dishes I walk
outside, into the beautiful sun-kissed meadows with gorgeous snow-capped
mountains in the background. As
I breathe in the fresh morning air, everything seems so wonderful today, so
utterly perfect…
The days pass by like a whirlwind. So fast and furious, yet wonderful.
All of a sudden I feel so
terribelly tired, as I get into bed I feel Dominique coming up behind me,
embracing me. I turn around and smile at her, inviting her to share my bed with
me for this one night.
I feel so warm, so comfortable. “Uh…” I groan as I slowly open my
eyes. “Orion! You’ve finally woken up!” Someone gleefully cries.
“Dominique?” I mutter, why is my mouth so dry and parched? “Um… Orion…
I am not Dominique, I’m Cain.” “Where is she?” Why is my voice so soft?
Like a whisper… Why is Cain sighing? “Sorry that I have to break this to you
but she died soon after the car accident, in the hospital, and you went into a
coma for about 2 weeks.” “Mm…” I shut my eyes tightly. I don’t want to
believe that it is true… She is dead… My one and only…
The days pass, so long, so dreary. I have a few broken ribs, my right arm
is fractured and there is a bandage around my head. The doctor said that I would
be able to walk again soon. How long has it been since I’ve last walked? I
don’t remember… It has seemed like eternity…
I can walk again… I am walking towards the window, throwing it open I
take in the fresh air while looking out at the sun-kissed meadows and those
distant snow-capped mountains. I see her hovering there, right in front of me…
I can just almost touch her, she looks so angelic… She is beckoning for me…
I lean out to reach for her, to touch her, as I fly downwards I see her one more
time, she is smiling at me. I just hope that this would bring me back to my
world, back to my fantasy.
