In 1983 , the Islamic Society of the Gold Coast was formed .
The first Jumaah was in February of that year and the Imam was Kasim Omar.
Dr.Chothia was the second Imam .
The first Eid was at 21 Whiting St .
On the 15th.December.1992 , the foundation for the Islamic Centre was laid , & K.D.Phillip was given the contract for the " lock up stage . "
The rest of the work was completed by many Volunteers .
Construction of the Gold Coast Mosque was completed in June 1996 .
The entire project , approaching A$1M , was funded privately ; a Malaysian interest , being the single biggest financial contributor .
