TO PONDER - ARE WE OVER-REACTING ?
It is against Islam to portray the Prophet (s.a.w) in pictures.
How is it that so many Muslims are able to spot his likeness in these cartoons ?
Wouldn't it suggest to non-Muslims that there are pictures of him somewhere ?

We fell into their trap ; hook , line & sinker.
We are portrayed as uneducated , violent and almost moronic.
What would the early Muslims have done?
They would have " daawa" the cartoonists by informing them why Muslims find it not only offensive but also blasphemous.
Even some Muslim countries re-published the cartoons out of ignorance.
Remember the world's largest Muslim country ( Indonesia ) was converted by the AKHLAK ( behavioiur /  personalities ) of the Muslim traders rather than their aggresiveness.
For all we know, the cartoonists were like those in the days of Jahilia i.e ignorant of our faith.
By all means , be vocal ,be heard or boycott their products.
But lets educate them.
Let the EDUCATED DAAWAH BEGIN.
After all , by the grace of Allah , we are intelligent , articulate and obviously more respectful of the feeling of others.
When the Prophet (s.a.w) achieved the final victory , there was no revenge on those who had mocked him.
Consequently , there was mass conversion to Islam , in awe of this AKHLAK.
