| THE ORGINS OF HACKHOCK |
| *HACKHOCK or hackeysack-hockey was born in the basement of a small church in the beautiful town of Steamboat Springs, CO. Unfortunetly the true orgin of the game is unkown . But, the first known games of hackhock were played by a small group of overly bored church youth group (on a ski trip) teens in a desperate attempt of doing something fun during the unbearably long time between skiing and dinner. In this fit of hunger and boredom the game of hackhock was said to have spawned. * |
| HACKHOCK is a game that is played like a minature game of hockey. But, unlike in normal hockey, in Hackeysack-hockey there is only 1 person per team and two teams. Each player faces the other in the small hackhock arena (size: about 8x11 ft up to 8x16). Once in the arena the player uses a mini hockey stick or the blade off a regular sized one in order to hit a hackeysack into the others person's goal. Since the arena is relatively small the player may not pass the halfway point in order to get the hackysack. | THE PEOPLE OF HACKHOCK |
| During the early days of HACKHOCK there were only two people whom knew about the small "leisure time activity". Those to people were BIG D and JAKE(that's me). D and I were there during the days of the skitrips and are still with it today. A few months into the developement (a little before the next ski trip I believe) MIKE joined the scene. HACKHOCK was just starting to be upgaded from a "leisure time activity" to a "game". During this time of developement several other people joined our group, the list of these people include NATE, DANNY, JEFF, ANGELO and many others. As far as effort goes BIG D has made by far the most by donating his basement so it could be the current residing place of the permanent hackhock arena. |
| HACKHOCK'S HISTORY AND EVOLUTION |
| In Steamboat Springs, Colorado Hackey-sack hockey was born. In the basement of a small church (after all, all thats good is either created in a basement or a garage, right?!) The original playing arena was merely a bunch of sleeping bags, pillows, and coats forming foot-high walls around a small area. The rules were simple, score or lose. The hackhey sack hockey sticks were miniature hockey sticks instead of blades from full sized hockey sticks. Tournaments were held in the basement of the small church after long days of skiing/snowboarding. After a few days the teens packed up and left, leaving the game of hackhock alone and forgoten in a dark church basement. Every year the teens would come and go, and for the three days, Hackhock was king... ...Until the day, the day when Hackhock met the likes of Brian and Jake. The game captured our attention. But the short tournaments and temporary arenas were no good for the us. And so, BIG D (Brian) and I (Jake) brought the legendary art that is Hackhock from the high mountains to the lowly folk down below. Big D soon put a plan into action, to build a Hackhock Arena. But not only to build the ultimate Hackhock arena, but to make it perminent. Using his own basement D had found a place to create the hakchock arena. So in months to come, the crew worked...not quite tirelessly, but...they worked and slowly but surely the arena was born. Hundreds of manhours and dollars went into the construction of the arena. But with the Arena complete, the glorious Tournaments could begin. The Tournaments begin and the Fans of the newest "leisure time activity" flock in. Hackhock is now a "game". The story of hackhock brings us now to the present, and the creation of HACKHOCK CENTRAL and a few other websites. And now the Hackhock story continues on... |
