The Sate of Yellow Moon:
The Brotherhood Retreating

The Naval battles which have been raging for quite some time seem to be in favor of the defenders. Both of the YM Water armies are still alive, while only one of BHs three is still here, and will soon be starving. It is not clear whether Dworkin's third death was a turning point or not, but the second land battle was a complete victory on the side of the defenders. The remaining marauders appear to be rallying, but it's expected that they'll be driven back by the overwhelming force that has been brought to bear on them by new arrivals.

Here are some detailed reports:

Stormy was killed by friendly fire and hasn't been seen since.
gannet died his current whereabouts is unknown, but he could still be on YM.
Snagglepuss, with the protection of TD cast, is alive and at the Brotherhoods rally point: a temple one hex east of the Black Grotto Weir Gate
At this rally point are felice, kalani, lildude, and pondy, too.
Dworkin appears to be moving back through the weir to gather BG-based reinforcements

The YM and LA forces are currently chasing the invaders:
KingDucky (2,800)
sorenqas (870)
BlackSun(1,700)
nightstaker (2,400)
Daishi (1,200)
CaraKaze (1,300)
Eragon (1,100) and
Ouroboros (1,000)

The Brotherhoods forces total around 3000 or lower, rounding up and counting hamlets.

Other developments:
flawblure went through the second weir gate and destroyed the other side
sizzle is moving back to the ralley point with about 800 souls.

We believe that the elemental gate razing rampage is over and new gates should be constructed in the near future.

The  State   of  GoKrida
-- by Silverius, guest writer, GK Record Keeper

Well the last year was a wild one, bringing a change of
administration, new old worlds, lots of fighting, Dworkin threatening
to quit, Dworkin threatening to quit, Dworkin threatening to quit, and
Gecko, Scatterbrain, Heer and many others quitting. New alliances emerged,
old certainties disappeared, many new worlds were created and some
lost again, research flourished, disturbing things were discovered and
promptly locked away.

The result: GoKrida begin 2006 right on schedule. But what does that mean? Let's examine
the State of GoKrida.

Yellow  Moon

In December 2005 the Brotherhood invaded YM. The battle is still
raging on, though it appears the defenders are gaining the upper hand.
Meanwhile two of the five gates on YM have been destroyed and many
YMers have lost their lives, some repeatedly.

What 2006 will bring to YM is unknown. It might become a second Black
Grotto. It might revert to its original state. Or something else
might happen. In any case these are interesting times for the Yellow
Moon World.

Rainbow  Catastrophe  Earth

In December 2005 a group called Rome, led by Blooddrake, started
taking over lands on RCE. Rome appears to have succeeded in their
attack and many of RCE's former inhabitants are now exiled.

In a public statement Rome said they wanted to turn RCE into a public
world, under their lead. Meanwhile they have razed all of the gates on
RCE. The new year will show if Rome can keep RCE or if they, like the
ancient Rome, will become history.

Rainbow  Youth

Around the middle of 2005 the Rainbow Youth Planet was rediscovered,
twice. Not all facts of its rediscovery are undisputed but what is
clear is that the Brotherhood first discovered RY and a group around
Sproo independently landed on it too. Sproo's story is that he
instructed his group to expand peacefully and that the Brotherhood
initiated aggressions. The Brotherhood argued that because they found
the planet they had territorial rights to all of it.

The outcome however was that, despite repeated threats and attempts to
unform by the Brotherhood, Sproo's group won. The LA subsequently
assumed control of the planet.

At the moment things are rather quiet and peaceful on RY and it looks
like it's going to stay that way, though one never knows.

Kobalos

Rainbow Goblin-Moss World was also rediscovered in 2005, by Chmmr. The
planet was subsequently given to Leelas who set out to build a new
nation on it. This nation is known as Kobalos and since its inception
it has grown quite rapidly.

Kobalos has a complicated system of government, basically a
non-absolute monarchy. Leelas has been crowned as the first king of
Kobalos.

The intention is for Kobalos to become a major public world, with a
full set of gates. Although not all gates are ready yet it is safe to
call the mission successful. In 2006 we can expect to see the steady
growth of 2005 to continue.

Green  Maiden

Green Maiden NX-6 was discovered by Chmmr, the third and final major
world he rediscovered in 2005. Soon thereafter however Chmmr abandoned
it again because of a dangerously low charge and the fact that the
planet had a great many holes in it, to the extend that it looked more
like a collection of islands than a coherent world.

Rainbow  Maiden

Rainbow Maiden had to deal with an invasion of the Brotherhood due to
a weir gate misalignment. The war was much talk and little action
though, and the bit of action there was was due to Streben killing a
multi. In the end the Brotherhood chose not to attempt to expand its
territory towards RM, whether this was because of the forces of the LA
that joined in, because of the native forces of RM or because of the
presence of Streben is unknown.

Aside from that little pseudo-war, it has been a quite peaceful year
for RM. The inhabitants chose to form an alliance, the Warlords Union of Rainbow Maiden (WURM) and promptly appointed themselves to
neato offices.

In December, Melkor declared war on YM because of an incident where
Ancalagon was killed. At the time of writing your writer has not
received word of WURM forces on YM.

Black  Grotto

Black Grotto has been rather peaceful, though the same can't be said
of its inhabitants. It seems everything there is going the way it
should be.

Third  Age  GoKrida

Around the middle of 2005 XiaoMu and a few others created a new
alliance called Third Age GoKrida (TAG) with the goal to help new players.
Some escape worlds were created and linked to get the necessary
territory.

TAG has grown quite reasonably since its inception and now has around
30 members. In the coming year it's likely it will create more
territory and try to recruit more members and contribute to the GK knowledge base by conducting researches and publishing the results publicly.

Seekers  of  Rainbow  Sea

The Seekers of Rainbow Sea (SoRS) want to build a huge world. SoRS is a
neutral alliance with members from all over the universe. So far they
haven't completed their objective but perhaps 2006 will bring us the much anticipated
Rainbow Sea.

GoKrida,  a  National  Heritage
Foundation

Behind the curtain there was a big change this year. GoKrida got under
the umbrella of the National Heritage Foundation, and we sure knew it.
The GNHF has set into motion a lot of changes: the removal of the
bonus screen, gleaning, removal of overall levels, the compulsory signing of a contract for each player, heavenly assistants, etc. While many participants weren't happy with the
changes there wasn't a mass exodus and GK is still broken as designed.

Looking back, 2005 sure was an interesting year. Lets hope that 2006 fulfills the promise to become equally intriguing.

On that note:

like a collection [...]

Extend ought to be changed to extent.
