Summary: Clark gets a little push in the right direction.

Family

Clark sat hunched in a corner chair to the side of the room. He
tapped his foot impatiently and endured his mother's understanding,
and his father's 'I-told-you-so' looks. He glanced at the clock and
saw it was 5 minutes after 12:00. And Lex still wasn't here.

He sighed, hauled himself up and threaded through the crowded living
room. He grabbed a cup of punch off of the counter and turned right
into his Aunt Dolly, not managing to escape the pinch and sloppy wet
kiss to his cheek.

He smiled and nodded at her "You're so big!" comments and got away
without being mauled further. He sat on the porch and watched the sky
as lazy clouds rolled by. 'I really hate family reunions.' This year
it had been decided that it would be held here, so all of his
mothers' family came to the farm. And Clark had to suffer but was
allowed to invite one friend to come suffer with him. The first
person that had come to mind had been Lex, and he'd stuck with his
decision even through his father's frowns.

"He's from Metropolis and most of Mom's family are from the city, so
he'll make them comfortable. It'll work out well Dad."

His father had to except his reasoning so Lex had been invited, and
Clark was now awaiting his arrival. 'Lex is never late. I wonder what
happened.'

He turned as the screen door slammed close and he saw his cousin Greg
come out with a cup of punch and leaned against a pole. Clark had to
admit he liked his cousin the most out of all his relatives. Greg was
tall and muscled like him, so he didn't feel so much like a freak
when he was around. That's where their similarities ended though.

Greg was naturally brown-haired, with gold highlights. He had light
gray eyes that darkened when he was angry, and had a fantastic sense
of humor. He had put Clark at ease many times with his easygoing
attitude. He was constantly telling him to relax and let the world
worry about itself for a while, and proceeded to take Clark's mind
off of all his worries. This year he had decided to stay with them
for a little while, so Clark was glad to have someone to hang around
with besides Chloe, Pete, and Lana when Lex was busy.

He was also openly gay, and enjoyed messing with Jonathan's head by
hitting on him, which his mom and he thought was hysterical. He
didn't act 'like a queen' to quote him though, and he got hit on a
lot by women whenever they went somewhere. Clark felt he could talk
to him about a lot of things because he was only a little older than
Lex, and acted younger than he did himself sometimes.

Greg sat besides him on the step and stretched his long legs out
before him.

"So what's up Clark? Mooning over some unattainable female?"

Clark shook his head and watched the driveway silently before
sighing. "I invited a friend over to help me survive the yearly
torture, and he's late. He's never late. I guess I'm kinda worried."

"How late is he? And is he cute? More importantly is he legal?"

Clark busted out laughing and shook his head at Greg. "You have a one
track mind you know that?" At Greg's cheeky grin he laughed again and
felt the tension draining from him. "He's seven minutes late."

"That's it? Hey maybe the guy got stuck behind a PMSing cow trying to
make it with his car."

Clark snorted his drink and coughed as Greg pounded his back. "You
are crazy. Well I guess I shouldn't worry about him."

"So you didn't answer my questions. What's the deal with this guy
that you're so eagerly awaiting?"

"I'm not eagerly awaiting him, I just want him to be here to save me
from mutants like Aunt Dolly." Greg chuckled and shook his
head. "Actually he's two years younger than you. And whether he's
cute or not depends on your own opinions I guess."

"Oh come on Clark. I trained you well so just tell me if he's cute!"

"I...Well I don't think ' cute's ' the word." At Greg's pointed look
he hurried on. "I think maybe exotic, or, well I guess beautiful?"

"Whoa. Clark Kent just called a guy beautiful. I've got to see him
now. Is he straight? Never mind I can change that. Is he available?"

Clark rolled his eyes at his cousin and then whipped his head around
when he heard the sound of Lex's Viper coming. "I was quoting a
female friend of mine. And for everything else I guess you'll have to
meet him and find out for yourself. And keep your hands to yourself.
He likes his personal space and only lets me breach it sometimes."

Greg raised an eyebrow. "Really. I guess we'll see how my charm is
holding up. You might have to get over your possessiveness cause I
intend to make the most out of my time here, and your 'friend' sounds
like a good time."

"He is my friend! And I'm not possessive, I'm just warning you,
because Lex has a sharp tongue and he's not afraid to use it." Greg
got a positively perverted look on his face and grinned.

"He sounds like my kind of guy."

Clark blushed deeply and covered his face in his hands. "Did not need
those images."

Greg threw his head back and laughed, patting Clark's arm. "Hey your
mind supplied them not mine. I must really try and remember that
you're a 17-year-old virgin. Martha would kill me if I corrupted
her 'baby'... Nice car. I'm assuming it's your mystery friend."

Clark looked to where his cousin nodded and stood up in excitement.

When the car stopped and the door opened, Clark was waiting patiently
on the side and Lex knew he'd have to explain at the look on his face.

"Sorry I'm late Clark, but my father called at the last minute and
had some rather drawn out requests. It was all I could do to get away
from him this soon. Did I miss anything?"

Clark had relaxed as he heard Lex's explanation and shook his head at
the last question. "Nope, I was just pinched to death by the herd of
Clark's in the house. You have to save me somehow. Dazzle them with
Metropolis stories or something."

Lex smiled happily to be near his friend and laughed at his
dilemma. "Well I think those stories are rated x, but I'll do my
best."

"Well Clark I think your friend wasn't very accurate. Drop dead
gorgeous is more like it."

Lex turned to see who spoke and had to look up to meet a pair of
light gray eyes, since the man speaking was so close. He took a step
back and looked to Clark for an introduction. But Clark was frowning
at the young man before him, who took Lex's hand and shook it, the
other hand was placed on his shoulder.

"Gregory Mattes. Everyone calls me Greg." Lex looked pointedly at the
hand on his shoulder, until it was removed. He tightened his hand
briefly politely in handshake and then extracted it with some
difficulty.

"Lex Luthor. Mr. Mattes? You must be the one Clark talks about. It's
interesting to meet you. But if you'll excuse me I should take this
in to Mrs. Kent." With that he turned around and reached into the car
to grab a platter. He balanced it with a flat palm and shut the door
with his hip stepping back slightly unsteady as the gravel shifted
under him. Greg jumped forward and steadied him with both hands
sliding over his hips from behind and gripped until Lex got his feet
properly under him.

When Lex did and Greg continued to hold him he shifted as if to walk
forward, but Greg held on. He grinned as Lex looked up over his
shoulder and raised an eyebrow.

"Thanks, but I can walk on my own now, so let go. And don't touch me
again."

"Sure." Was murmured close to his ear. Lex narrowed his eyes slightly
at the breath that was deliberately blown into his ear. He twisted
away and turned to Clark who was shooting daggers at his cousin.

"I'm going inside Clark."

"Okay. Give me a minute." Lex nodded and walked to the house. Clark
turned his attention to Greg who had his head tilted and was watching
Lex closely. Clark followed his line of vision and blushed, elbowing
Greg hard.

"Stop staring at his butt!" Clark hissed.

"But he's got a great ass. What use is it if I can't stare like the
sexually deprived deviant I am?"

"Lex is off limits. Don't touch him like that anymore. He's got
enough emotional issues without you trying to sleep with him. And
stop staring at his butt."

"But the globes are perfect. He must work out cause he looks tight.
And I can deal with emotional issues."

"Greg!" Clark felt like he was going to die from too much blood
rushing to his head, the deep blushing making him slightly light
headed. "*Stop*. Besides even I know a brush off when I see one, and
he definitely brushed you off."

"Aww, that was nothing. He's just playing hard to get."

Clark rubbed his eyes and sighed. Why did his cousin have to be
so...well the way he was?

He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up. Greg was smiling softly
at him. "Sorry. I'll stop now I promise. No more pawing at your
friend, and no more staring...Actually, I can't promise that one."

Clark sighed and nodded. "Okay. But try and act gentlemen like for a
little while?"

"Sure Clark. So, what was on that platter? I wonder if he comes as a
compliment to the dip." A whimper of defeat was the response and
Greg's laughter filled the air as he threw an arm about Clark's
shoulders.
