Saiya-jin:
a warrior race of people with tails who inhabited the former planet
"Vegeta" from 550 to 737 A.D. The saiya-jin are people
characterized by tails, often wild hair, and a love for fighting so deep it
seems bred in their genetic structure. Even the youngest saiya-jin babies
have the strength to conquer many other races, especially on nights of a full
moon when a saiya-jin undergoes a dramatic transformation into a giant wereape
known as an "Oozaru".
The saiya-jin landed
on the planet then named "Plant" in a mysterious ship approximately
550 A.D. They lived in a basic, wild manner apart from the planet's
dominant race, the Tsufuru-jin. Scattered bands of saiya-jin inhabited
the outer, unclaimed areas of the planet for decades, living, fighting, and
existing solely among their own.
In the year 720 A.D.
the saiya-jin united as a race and began a ten year war against the Tsufuru-jin
for control of the planet. The Tsufuru-jin, while smaller in stature and
brute strength, were technologically advanced and fought back against the
saiya-jin, until an event that only happened every eight years on Plant took
place - a full moon. The saiya-jin, now able to transform into their
giant and even more powerful Oozaru state, had no trouble decimating the
largest portions of the Tsufuru-jin race.
By 730 A.D. the
saiya-jin had taken control of the planet and re-named it Vegeta. The
were quick to adapt the Tsufuru-jin technology to their own way of living,
increasing their abilities to the point of space travel. Once the barrier
of space was breached, the saiya-jin began meeting aliens from other
planets. These aliens quickly learned how useful the natural strength of
a saiya-jin was for capturing territory, and in 731 A.D. the saiya-jin began a
partnership with the strongest of those aliens - a galactic dictator named
Freeza. Under this new partnership, the saiya-jin had a new duty added to
their daily lives - the conquer of other planets slated for sale in the planet
trade.
This same year King
Vegeta married his queen, and a year later in 732 A.D. a young prince was born
bearing the name of his father and his home world - Vegeta. This boy was
born with an outstanding power level, marking him not only as an elite fighter
from birth but also as a potential super saiya-jin - a legendary figure that
had not been seen in so long many people considered it only a myth.
This calm existence
was not to last, however. By 735 A.D., Freeza had begun to feel
misgivings toward the saiya-jin, and feared the possibility that a super
saiya-jin truly could be born among them. Fearing that such
a being would possibly be able to topple his empire and strike him down, Freeza
began to keep track of the saiya-jin and their abilities.
In 737 A.D. a baby
was born to a third-class warrior named Bardock. An uneventful birth to a
man who was a busy warrior, except for the fact that the baby was born with an
astoundingly low power level. He was named Kakarott. His father had
no interest in such a weak baby and focused on his job of clearing the planets
Meat and Kanassa, while Kakarott was bundled into a small space pod and sent to
Earth.
Unbeknownst to most
saiya-jin, Freeza had forced King Vegeta to hand over the Prince to him, in
exchange for ensuring the safety of Planet Vegeta. King Vegeta quickly
realized the mistake he had made and took a select group of elite fighters to
Freeza's ship in an attempt to overthrow Freeza and take back his son.
The revolt failed when Freeza killed King Vegeta with a single blow and then
finished off his elites. Freeza demanded the death of all saiya-jin;
Dodoria was dispatched to kill Bardock and his crew on their current mission
while Freeza headed toward Planet Vegeta. Dodoria was only partially
successful, and Bardock, having realized the fate of Planet Vegeta both through
the words of his dying teammate and his own visions, raced back to Planet
Vegeta, where he died trying to protect it. The same blow also ended the
existence of Planet Vegeta.
But, saiya-jin are
noted for their strength, and their race shall endure.
