Delight
~ A White Day special fic ~
follow up to Inconvenience
By: kc-chan
Violet eyes peeped from around
the door jam to which behind, the rest of the boy was hidden.
They narrowed slightly, focusing in on their target. He was out
to find what the hell happened to his friend. . . Even if it was
the last thing he did. . . Four slim fingers hooked onto the door
frame and a stubby nose popped around it. Blinking once again, he
was really wondering if his friend was alright. . . Something
seemed, well. . . off.
It had started about a month ago
when he had accompanied Wufei to drop off a note. . . It was
suppose to be easy, and he had only gone with the boy because,
well they were all rather worried about him. Wufei had always
been too independent for his own good. Needless to say, after
Wufei had sorta betrayed them and kinda not, the rest of them
were worried about the mental state of their wayward friend.
Quatre reminded them that Wufei did side with them when push came
to shove. . . And Wufei had sorta opened up to them, but the
Chinese boy was probably getting ready to kill them for their
over protectiveness.
But that wasn't the real reason
he was worried. . . No. That barely phased him. . . The fact that
Wufei had all out laughed when Zechs had left them on the hill,
*that* scared the living bejeezes outta him. Maybe Mariemaia used
drugs on their Wufei during the Gundams last stand? Wufei was
experiencing drug induced moments of emotion control?
Because Duo decided that their
Wufei would not be humming, hips swaying to old Italian music,
and cooking. No sir, their Wufei would not be in the kitchen
cooking unless it was under the threat of Duo Maxwell's home
cooking. . . In fact, this had to be a clone. The violet eyed boy
was certain now, especially since their Wufei didn't wear worn
jeans and let alone t-shirts. . . Perhaps the Chinese boy had
finally delved into the deep end of things?
"He's making chocolates,
Duo." A sweet soft voice murmured as it passed the him in
the hall.
Duo flipped around and gaped,
open mouthed at the passing Winner heir. "Just
chocolates?" When the Arabian boy kept walking, Duo
followed. "Look Quatre, something weird has happened to our
resident stick in the ass Wufei. And I want to know what. I mean
who randomly decides to make chocolates on March 13th?
Hmmmm?"
That's when Heero looked up from
his laptop, "White Day." And then resumed typing.
"White what?" Duo
asked and looking to Quatre for perhaps a more defined answer
than "White Day."
Quatre shrugged. "An Asian
holiday perhaps?"
Heero sighed as if this White
Day thing was some culture breaking, earth wide ritual that
obviously everyone except perhaps Duo Maxwell and Quatre Winner
participated in. "Girls give chocolates to the guy they like
on Valentine's Day. Then on March 14th, boys give them back in
return. Simple, ne?" Sighing once more, he turned back
around in his chair to keep at his laptop.
"Oh." Quatre replied.
"Of course." Duo
replied nonchalantly. "Heero?"
"Hm?" the Prussian
eyed boy responded with out even looking up.
"Would this holiday that I
should have obviously known about given my firm grounding in
Asian culture and holidays, curtail the same if, oh. . . I don't
know. . . Say, hypothetically now, Zechs Marquise gave our Wu-man
something. . . On Valentine's Day. You Following? Good. . . So
our little Wu-man is going to return the favor tomorrow,
right?" Duo drawled out to the rather unresponsive Japanese
pilot.
"Hi guys, going out, Duo
can lick the bowl, don't wait up, bye!" And hurricane Wufei
got out the door and on his bike before the three pilots he had
passed got a word in edge wise.
"Bye, Wufei!" Quatre
waved before it hit him. "Shit!"
Duo had disappeared and
reappeared quickly with a spoon in his mouth and face and fingers
covered with homemade fudge. Licking the spoon like a child given
candy for the first time. "Wu left?"
Heero nodded, watching the
lights from the bike head off. "He's getting better at
avoiding us going with him."
Trowa passed by and peeked in to
the disgruntled Heero, slightly shocked and bemused Quatre. . .
and the scarily soon to be on a sugar high Maxwell. "Glad I
put the tracer on him. . ."
"Hn." Heero remarked.
"Maybe we were getting to
him?" Quatre asked.
"I think he's gonna go get
some from Peacecraft!" Duo chuckled, the whole idea of
Valentine's Day and White Day coming together in his mind.
Heero blanched, Quatre looked
rather green, and Trowa. . .well he endured but looked somewhat
sick as well.
"No!! The blonde!! The
twenty one year old sex bomb!" Duo replied realizing his
faux pas. Everyone looked much better. . .
Meanwhile. . .
Wufei was grinning and riding
faster and faster along the country roads that headed towards
where he was meeting up with Zechs. He was somewhat thankful that
the blonde wasn't upset it had taken him a few weeks to get the
courage to call the blonde prince. In fact, Zechs had sounded
almost relieved.
He giggled again. Feeling
bubblier than a schoolgirl on a crush, he knew his cheeks were
flushed with excitement. Fingers clutched the dragon hanging from
the fine silver chain for a brief moment. . . He was going to get
through this!
Zechs sat leaning on the hood of
his car watching the stars peek out of their space slumber. He
had arrived earlier than he had too. . . It was he had just
wanted to see the Chinese boy again so badly. . . He had worried
after the first week when there wasn't any phone call. . . And
was ready to smash the phone in by the second. And nearly died of
glee when the boy had called him. . .
He knew that there was a smirk
resting upon his lips. . . Why wouldn't there be? He promised his
dear friend to take care of the boy. . . And damn it, he was
going to follow through on it. . .
Lights and the purr of a finely
tuned motor finally came into his hearing and sight. Sitting up,
he watched the lithe boy whisk into his view and bring the
motorcycle to a complete stop.
"You got here earlier? I
hope. . . I hope I didn't keep you waiting. . ." Wufei
managed to get out. How come he always became tongue tied at the
wrong moments?
Zechs burst into a radiant
smile. "No need to apologize. I got here earlier to watch
the stars come out."
"I. . .Well. . .
Here." Wufei pushed his bronze arms out nervously.
Blue eyes blinked taking in the
rather large white box with the oriental patterned ribbons all
tied into some complicated bow. He reached out slowly to accept
it. "Thank you, Wufei. . . What is it?"
Wufei blushed beautifully,
thankful of the evening sky to blot most of his embarrassment
out. "Ummm. . . Just open it."
Zechs sighed. "But it's
wrapped so wonderfully. . . I would hate to ruin it. . ."
Waving a hand, "I can retie
them later. . . Just open it!" the boy pushed both nervous
and excited tones.
"You tied them?" Zechs
asked in surprise. The boy obviously had many talents other than
aiming and killing, but then again wasn't that what drew him to
the boy. The multi faced masks this boy wore. . .
"Aa. Just open it!!"
Wufei pushed.
Letting out an amused chuckle,
Zechs slid the bow off carefully, wondering what the boy could
have given him that made him so excited. Lifting the white cover
he set it aside. "You got me tissue paper?" the man
teased.
Black eyes rolled in
exasperation. "Zechs! Open it!!"
The blonde laughed heartily at
that. Wufei had whined. "I give." And pushed aside the
delicate tissue. His eyes widened in surprise. Chocolates. Dozens
and dozens of intricate little chocolates, decorated in
absolutely amazing patterns. "Wufei. . . Wow. . .I don't'
know what to say. . . You made these?" he asked, catching
the boy's black orbs with his.
"Yeah. . . they aren't that
impressive. . . I haven't done that in years. . . but-"
"But nothing. . . I should
think any chef in Europe would be jealous, Wufei. They are
amazing. . . Thank you."
The boy flushed and averted his
eyes. "You're welcome."
"Whatever are they
for?" Zechs inquired.
Black eyes looked up. Oh, how
could he have forgotten? White Day wasn't celebrated in Europe. .
. Well. . . It was now or never, and he had to do it before he
lost all his courage.
Icy orbs blinked as the delicate
boy moved forward in a rush and pushed his soft rosebud lips to
his. Zechs blinked and fell into the slight, almost teasing kiss.
Wufei pulled back, slightly pink from his boldness and whispered,
"Happy White Day."
Zechs opened his eyes and tilted
his head to one side. "White Day?"
Wufei chuckled and nodded.
"It's an Asian Holiday. . . In return to those who gave you
something on Valentine's Day. . ."
"Ah. . ."
Silence stretched for a moment
before Zechs hopped off his hood. "You know I got a blanket
in my trunk and some wine. How about sitting and watching the
rest of the stars come out?"
Wufei broke into a grin.
"It sounds like a wonderful idea."
The blanket was laid, and soon
the two sat together. The blonde wrapped his arm around the
Chinese boy, watching the stars come out. Trading the old myths
of the stars, sipping wine from the bottle, and stealing sweet
chaste kisses till the sun rose the next morning. . .
Owari.
