| King Kong (Part 2) |

| Kong's next film was in 1986, King Kong Lives would be the first and only direct sequel to a previous film that Kong has starred in (meaning not including the Kong-less Son of Kong). The film explains that the giant ape didn't die from his fall atop the World Trade Center and has been in a coma for 10 years. In need of a blood transfusion, the researchers hear word of another giant ape dwelling on another island. A female. A Queen Kong, if you will. Lady Kong is brought in and a successful blood transfusion is made. When Kong recovers, he...you guessed it...ESCAPES! Who could have seen that coming? But this time he excapes with Lady Kong, so there's some hot monkey love going on. As the movie goes on, the Army hunts the Kongs down. Kong falls off a cliff and is presumed dead, and Lady Kong is taken captive. Kong, still alive, hunts down his mate and is killed rescuing them (but not after doing some serious damage). Kong dies holding the Newborn Son that Lady Kong delivered. In 1991, Toho was ready to pit Kong up against Godzilla again for round two in a Heisei version of King Kong vs. Godzilla, but due to legal issues with the Kong character, Toho went with a character that was legally in their Kaiju lineup and made Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah instead. The final appearance to date for Kong was in a big budget 2005 blockbuster second remake of King Kong, this time Kong portrayed via CGI. Kong's role is essentially the same as the original film (only portrayed more sympatheticly) and the only major differences between the two films are a more padded out run time and minor character roles. As an April Fools joke, before the release of the 2005 film, Peter Jackson, the film's director, claimed he was making two sequels, centering around the son of Kong and a fight against Nazis. Obviously a spoof of recent back to back sequels being filmed to provide instant trilogies (such as the Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions and Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest/At World's End), it was later proved to just be a prank. As it stands, there are no plans to use Kong in another film at this time, and it is very likely that there won't be for a long, long time (gasp...another remake?). Previous Page Monster Bio Page |
