A Forbidden Past - Chapter 4
A New Friend
Stacie quickly sat up to find herself sitting in the hammock in her backyard with the sun setting in the distance. "No! Was it all just a dream?" she mumbled as she wasn't completely awake yet. She sat up holding her head in her hands trying to focus her eyes and adjust them to the light. She scanned her eyes around the yard to see if Trunks was still around. She noticed the large crater left by his Time Capsule in the back of the yard, so she knew it wasn't all a dream. She could see her groceries were moved and now sitting beside her in the shade. She also saw there was a brand new Capsule Corp logo sitting with her groceries. "Awww! He gave me a new logo, that's soooooo sweet!" she said to herself trying to hold back tears.
"I assume you like it?"
Stacie looked to the left to see Trunks sitting on the ground leaning against a tree. "Please tell me I'm not dreaming! Are you really Trunks?" she asked.
"As far as I know, I am Trunks," he replied. "Who are you and where am I exactly?"
"My name is Stacie and this is uh....... Earth?" she replied.
"Stacie," he smiled. "So this is still Earth? What year is it?"
"The new millennium, 2000!" she said with pride.
"Oh, so I went into the future instead of the past," he said to himself putting his head down.
Stacie still wasn't positive that Trunks was right before her eyes. "Prove to me your Trunks!" she said.
"Prove to you? How?" he asked
Stacie thought for a second. "Go super saiyajin! Make your hair change color and go super saiyajin!"
Trunks, not expecting Stacie to know that much about him, nodded. He concentrated for about 5 seconds and yelled. His hair shot up into the air, and went golden colour. He smiled at Stacie, "Is that okay?"
"Wow! Yea!" she said in amazement. Trunks relaxed as his hair fell back down and returned to its lavander colour. "Okay then Trunks, I have another question for you, why are you here?" asked Stacie.
"I don't even know the answer to that. I was supposed to be going to meet a man named Goku to give him this medicine.."
"For his heart so he can be alive to fight the androids!"
"Umm, yeah. How did you know that?" said Trunks, a little surprised.
"Well, you, Goku, the androids and everything is an extremely popular TV show here called Dragon Ball Z."
"Oh, so me coming to the future is part of the story line?" asked Trunks.
"No it isn't. That's why I am a little overwhelmed because I never expected I'd actually get to meet you!" Stacie was getting a little excited and the hammock started to sway.
"Why are you so excited to meet me? I'm not any different from anyone else," he said.
"Yes you are!" she loudly said. Then quitely she added, "You are the cutest of all the saiyajins." She smiled at Trunks hoping he'd hear it. He did, and he started to blush. The hammock was swaying more as Stacie leaned over too far, fell off, and landed on her injured left wrist. She screamed in pain as she grabbed her wrist.
"Are you alright?" Trunks said as he quickly walked over to Stacie.
"Yes, thank you. I should be alright." she said as she tried to stand up. Trunks stuck his hand out and pulled Stacie up to her feet. Stacie still didn't believe her eyes that Trunks was standing infront of her and that she just touched his hand. Stacie started to head into her house so she could tend to her damaged wrist when she remembered her groceries. She turned around to grab them but Trunks had already beaten her to them carrying them into the house for her.
She got into the house and grabbed an ice pack from the freezer. Trunks looked around the kitchen a little surprised at how different the technology was compared to his time. Stacie walked upstairs and Trunks followed. "Oh geez, whats he going to say once he sees my room? Half the stuff in my room hasn't even happened to him yet!" she thought to herself. "I hope it doesn't change his future in any way."
"Do you live alone?" asked Trunks, not seeing any parents around the house.
"No, my mom is on a business trip in a city called Seattle at the far west of the country. I have a question for you now. How did you end up here?" asked Stacie.
"Well, I was leaving to meet Goku and give him the heart medicine when all the devices in my time machine started going crazy. Instead of going into the past, I went into the future. I have no idea what caused it, but my mom could of messed something up. It happened quickly so I'm not exactly sure what went wrong," he said.
"Really? Well the night that you came crashing in, all the electronic devices here started to go crazy from a magentic storm. Could that have affected the time machine?"
"Its a possibility. Whoa, why am I all over your walls?" said Trunks as he walked into Stacie's room.
"I told you, all you saiyajins are extemely popular in my time."
"So how many are left in the world here?"
"None that I know of. I thought the world of Dragon Ball was entirely fiction but you are standing here infront of me, so its a possibility there could be," she said.
"Oh," said Trunks as he put his head down. "So, no one here has the same powers that I do?"
"Not that I know of. It might be a bit odd if people see you flying through the sky or changing your hair colour, so you might want to watch what you do. By the way, why if you are in the wrong year, are you still here?" asked Stacie.
"My time machine isn't working. I guess the magnetic storm you are talking about knocked it out for a bit. Once my machine is working, I'll be leaving," he said.
"Oh...." Stacie suddenly felt crushed thinking she finally made a friend who she knew had to leave her one day. "Since you are going to be here a while, you might as well register at the school to become a little more well known around here."
"Okay, that sounds like a good idea. Hey, Don't worry, I don't think it will be working any time soon. So I'll be here for a while it seems," Trunks said as he smiled at Stacie. Stacie, again became overwhelmed with emotions, and dropped out cold on the bed. "Man, this girl faints easily," said Trunks to himself looking at the passed out Stacie. He picked her up and put her into her bed while pulling the covers up to her neck. "Goodnight Stacie." She smiled and rolled over falling asleep. Trunks, walked over to the bay window, lied down across the cushions and fell asleep.
Trunks awoke the next morning at about 7:45 to hear a lot of banging and cluttering going on downstairs. Still not adjusted to the amount of pictures of himself on the wall, he was in a bit of shock when he woke up. He walked downstairs in his pants and tank-top to see Stacie in the kitchen cooking up a storm.
"Good morning! You have to start the day with a good breakfast if you expect to get through a day of school at my highschool!" she said with a huge smile on her face.
"Umm, ok. What classes should I take?" he asked as he eyed the food she was cooking.
"Take all the ones I have. Since you will only be here a short time, I want to spend all the time I can with you!" she said as she winked at him.
Trunks blushed. "I'm flattered. So, what classes do you take?"
"I take 12 advanced biology, 12 advanced math, 12 advanced chemistry and 12 advanced girls gym. Hmm... I guess you can't take that class so you might as well take a spare."
"Wow, those sound like.. fun... classes.." he said nervously.
"Don't worry! I can tutor you if you need help," she said as she looked him up and down.
"Okay," he said with a big grin as Stacie finished cooking the food. She put the plate down infront of him and she sat down at the other end of the table. Trunks dove right into the food while Stacie sat at the other end of the table admiring his body and slowly picking at her food. Trunks soon finished eating and thought he'd better take a shower since he hadn't since he left his time several days ago.
"Hey Stacie, I think I better take a shower," he said.
"Oh umm.. ok. Let me get you a towel and show you had to work it."
Trunks followed Stacie upstairs where she grabbed a towel from the closet and handed it to him. "Okay, the handle on the left is hot while the right is cold. Simple as that. You need anything else like a tooth brush, comb, deodorant?" she asked.
"Oh, I have all that stuff out in my time machine. If you go out there, and press the yellow button on the side, it should open up. Once inside, there is a compartment on the left side which has all that in there, so just grab it all for me please," he said as he started fiddling with the temperature of the water.
She smiled, and closed the door to the bathroom as she left to grab his stuff. She walked downstairs and out the patio door careful not to step on the scattered bits of cell phone still sitting in the back yard. She went into the machine, and easily found his stuff. She closed up the capsule and climbed out of the large crater. Stacie had never been so happy in her life. She held his stuff in her right hand and spun around as she walked into her house. She walked upstairs knocked on the bathroom door to give him his stuff.
"Yo Trunks? I brought your stuff up!" she yelled through the door.
"Oh thank you," he said as he came out of her bedroom wearing only a pair of boxers, and the towel around his neck. Stacie practically dropped to the floor when she saw him.
"Oh.. umm.. hmm.. uh.. hmm.. you..... oh.. umm.. you might want to put some uh.. clothes on eh?" Stacie was at a loss for words, not expecting to see this.
"Oh, okay," he said as he took the stuff from Stacie's hands and went into the bathroom to get dressed. Stacie stood there for about a minute afterwards waiting to recover from her encounter. "Okay I'm ready to go," Trunks said as he came out of the bathroom wearing his usual pants, belt, tank top, and Capsule Corp. jacket.
"Wow you look great!" said Stacie, knowing the body that lied under the clothing.
"Thanks!" Trunks blushed, almost as often as Stacie fainted. "We should leave a little early so we can get you registered in the classes. I have a couple of spare binders lying around you can take with you to take notes, even though it doesn't really matter since you won't be here for the whole year. I also have a spare backpack if you want it." Stacie was rummaging through her school stuff pulling out what she thought Trunks would need. Trunks stuffed it all into the school bag Stacie supplied and followed her downstairs, ready to face the school.
"Hey Stacie? You're going to have to introduce me to all of your friends. Where are you going to say I'm from?" he asked.
"Well, I don't exactly.. have.. any friends. But that is a good question, how am I going to explain where you came from...."
"Well you do have one friend," said Trunks as he smiled at her. Stacie blushed as they walked out the door to school.
