A Forbidden Past - Chapter 3
Chance of a Lifetime
Stacie awoke the next morning at about 9:30 to hear birds chirping and
to see the sun shining bright through the window. "Ahh, what a beautiful
day it is! I think I'll go shopping!" she said with a smile. She jumped
in and out of the shower and looked in the closet to grab something to
wear. She grabbed her favorite dark blue jacket from Japan which had the
Capsule Corp. logo attached to the sleeve so she would resemble Trunks.
She grabbed her wallet, and headed out the door. Stacie never drove
anywhere. She was very environment friendly and since the mall was only
a 10 minute walk, she wouldn't bother wasting gas and polluting the air.
She walked into the mall and immediately went to her favorite store, where they always had a lot of anime memorabilia. She was known there by name and always bought something. The first thing she noticed when she entered the store was the Sailor Moon Super S movie. She picked it up, and was about to pay for it when she noticed something even better, japanese tapes of the Buu saga. She grabbed the two movies, and a pack of cards, payed for them, and ran out of the store. She sat on a nearby bench to open her cards to see if she got any cute pictures. She flipped through her new cards and got a nice piece of eye-candy with a picture of Trunks. "Ooh damn he's so cute!" she thought to herself and she melted as his eyes seemed to gaze deep into her. She thought she better buy some groceries as well so she hurried to the other end of the mall to grab some food to last her the rest of the week.
The mall was extremely busy for a Sunday, as Stacie was getting pushed around by complete strangers and kids from her school. There was a small gap in the crowd as she continued to walk again. She passed someone and looked at their shoulder as she walked by to see the Capsule Corp. logo on a dark blue jacket. "Hey! I know that logo," she thought to herself and turned around to see the blue jacket walking through the crowd with a head of lavendar hair. "HEY?! TRUNKS!" she yelled outloud. The crowd surrounding her in the mall stopped and gave her a funny look while the mysterious person picked up their pace and walked out the mall. Stacie went bright red and felt like a complete moron. She shrunk down and continued walking through the mall to purchase groceries. She hurried out the mall with her purchases hoping to maybe catch a glimpse of who she thought was Trunks but she didn't see anyone except Heather Morrison and her group of friends. Stacie quickly walked in the other direction to avoid Heather completely, but Heather saw her.
"Hey loser girl! Where do you think you're going?" yelled Heather across the parking lot. Stacie completely ignored her and continued walking home. "Don't ignore me just because everyone at school ignores you! I know where you live!" yelled Heather as she started to chase after Stacie. Stacie decided to take a short cut through the path in the woods behind her house to try and beat Heather back, but Heather and her group of girls took the same path and quickly caught up to Stacie.
"Just what do you think you are doing shopping at the same mall of me?" said Heather.
"What? I can shop where ever I want to. I don't see why I should have to shop else where just because you shop there," replied Stacie.
"Don't talk back to me!" snapped Heather. "Hey? What's the Capsule Corp? I thought you worked at the coffee shop or did you get fired because they found out what a freak you are?"
"It's none of your business. Now leave me alone, I want to go home."
"Oh you want to go home eh? Hah!" Heather snatched the bags off of Stacie and started searching through them. "More of this cartoon crap? You really need to grow up and get a boyfriend. Stop living as a kid and maybe you'd have a friend! Girls, grab her!" laughed Heather.
Two of Heather's friends grabbed Stacie and held her back. Heather pulled a pair of scissors out of her purse and appoached Stacie. "This Capsule Corp. seems important to you. I've always wanted one of these logos... whatever it means." Heather laughed as the scissors entered Stacie's favorite jacket.
"NOOO! STOP IT!" Stacie struggled to get away from the piercing scissors but it was too late, the Capsule Corp. logo fell off of her jacket and onto the ground. Heather's friends let go of Stacie as she dropped to the ground sobbing. Heather picked up the Capsule Corp. logo in her hands and glared at Stacie.
"You're pathetic," said Heather. She walked away as her friends followed her out of the woods laughing all the way. Stacie gathered up her stuff and slowly walked out of the forest and into her backyard. Concerned about her jacket, she practically fell into the large crater left by the meteor Friday evening.
"Oh geez! I forgot about this again!" she said. She peered over the edge of the large crater to see not a meteor, but a space ship. "What the hell is that?" She had to get a closer look. She left her groceries and her cut-up jacket at the top of the crater and slowly slid down the edge. She looked around the space ship to see the Capsule Corporation logo on the side along with the word "Hope". "No way! THIS IS TRUNKS TIME MACHINE!" She practically fainted on the spot after her new found discovery. She peered inside the machine to see if he was possibly there. "HEY! I guess that was him at the mall today, but how did he get here?" She looked down on the ground to see several sets of foot prints leaving to and from the machine. She followed the foot prints with her eyes up the crater, leading towards her house. "Was that him watching me all these times?" she thought to herself. She took one last look within the time machine while the sun was shining brightly into it. She could see he had left his sword on the floor of the machine. "Ooh damnit I want to hold it!" she said. As she said that, the sun illuminating the time machine vanished but remained elsewhere around her. Stacie slowly turned around and brought her eyes up to the top of the crater to see Trunks standing there, peering down at her. Stacie could feel her knees shaking. She couldn't believe her eyes. Her favorite person in the world, who supposedly didn't exist, was standing right infront of her. She wanted to say something, anything, but nothing could come out. She was terrified as well as excited. Her eyes locked with Trunks as he didn't say anything, or move except he flashed a grin at Stacie. She fainted immediately.
