A Forbidden Past - Chapter 2
Revenge?

Stacie woke late the next morning at about 11:15. She hit her head pretty hard the night before and her wrist was even more swollen than it was after her battle with Heather. She went into the kitchen and grabbed an ice back to place on her aching wrist. She heard a beeping noise and realized it was the answering machine.

"Hello, it's Carol calling from Smith's Coffee Cafe. I'm wondering if Stacie is coming for work today. She was scheduled from 11:00 to 7:00 but she hasn't showed up yet. Please call me back ASAP."

"OH SHIT! I'm going to get fired," Stacie thought to herself. She picked up the phone and quickly called her work. "Hey Carol? Its Stacie. Sorry I haven't come in yet. The power must have gone out during the storm last night. My alarm didn't wake me up this morning. Come in for a noon to 7 shift? Sure! I'll be there. Alright, bye!" Stacie breathed a huge sigh of relief and went upstairs to prepare herself for work. She jumped in and out of the shower and carefully bandaged up her wrist. She couldn't figure out who the mysterious silhouette was which made her fall last night. "It couldn't be a friend, because I don't have any. Maybe it was just an animal of some sort," she laughed.

Stacie made her quick walk to work and arrived at 11:45. Her boss, Carol Smith, immediately noticed her bandaged wrist. "What happened to you Stacie?" she asked.

"Oh its nothing, I'm ok," Stacie replied nervously. "What time are you working until?"

"I would stay until 7, but I have a doctor's appointment so I need to leave at 6 or so. Heather was coming in at 7, but she has a concussion or something so Alyce is coming in to cover for her. Are you going to be okay for the hour alone or do you want Alyce to come in early?"

Stacie nodded as she started serving coffee to a customer. "I should be okay. If I need any extra help I'll call her. Thanks!"

Time passed quickly through the day. It was very busy until later in the evening around dinner time when people are all at home. Six o'clock came around and the store was entirely empty with the exception of Stacie. She was cleaning up around the smoking section when the drive-thru beeped in her ear.

"Welcome to Smith's Coffee Cafe, Stacie speaking. Can I take your order please?" She waited for the order but only silence was to be heard. "Hello, Can I take your order?" she asked again but there was only silence. She walked over to the drive-thru window and peered out towards the speaker. There was no one there. She walked back towards the smoking section when the drive-thru beeped again. "Welcome to Smith's Coffee Cafe, Stacie speaking. Can I take your order please?" She was talking to silence again. She stuck her head out the window to just catch the glimpse of a foot rounding the corner. "What the hell is going on?" she thought to herself. Just then a customer entered the store, ordered a coffee, and left. "A coffee. That's what I need. I just need to have a coffee and relax." She started pouring the coffee and saw a person out of the corner of her eye staring at her through the drive-thru window. She quickly glanced over but not long enough to see who it was. During the quick glance, she had over-filled her cup and poured hot coffee all over her bandaged hand. "AH SHIT!" she yelled as she grabbed her left hand in pain.

"Stacie? What happened are you ok?" Alyce said as she came running in the door. "I heard you screaming from outside, is everything alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just spilt some coffee on myself."

"I'm here now so you can go home now if you'd like," Alice said with a smile.

"Thanks," replied Stacie as she was already taking off her apron and drive-thru microphone. She waved goodbye to Alyce and left out the back door. She walked home towards the sunset admiring the view from the top of the hill where the coffee cafe was located. As she walked down the road towards her house, she saw a figure leaving from her driveway, so she picked up the pace. By the time she reached the bottom of the hill, she was in a full sprint, trying to catch the mysterious person but by the time she reached her house, the person was long gone. She walked up to her door, looked around, and went into the house.

Stacie felt in no mood to cook herself dinner, thinking she might injure her wrist further. She went out to the local burger joint where there were always a lot of people. When she entered, the place fell silent, with the exception of clanging utensils. Heather was sitting in the corner with a bandage on her nose and a bruised ego. Stacie could hear the whispers about her outburst in gym flying around the room. She quickly ordered her food to go, and as she was leaving, she heard Heather remark under her breath, "Bitch..." Stacie stopped in her tracks, turned around and glared right at Heather who quickly went bright red. Stacie smirked and walked out of the store.

As she walked home, she knew she was being followed, but she had no idea by who. She decided to pick up the pace but so did the mysterious character. "Could this be the same person from last night and as well as at the coffee shop?" she thought to herself. She slowed down, curious about who the person may be. The person remained on their speedy pace, and raced by Stacie. It was no one she knew, just someone out for evening exercises. She got back to her house when she heard the familiar call of Heather Morrison.

"So, the little freak thinks she can just run away from me? I don't give up that easily. You are going to pay for what you did yesterday!" yelled Heather.

"Just leave me alone Heather, or do you want a black eye to go with your bandaged nose?"

"Oh is that a threat? Girls, you know what to do," said Heather. As she said that, 3 of Heather's friends came out of the bushes, all armed with a carton of eggs. The barrage began, as eggs were flying at Stacie. Stacie ducked as she heard the eggs slamming into her house, yet none of it sprayed onto her.

"HAH! This isn't the end you stupid bitch! I will get my revenge still!" laughed Heather as her and her friends ran away.

"Oh man this is going to take forever to clean... Hey? I know I heard the eggs hit the house, but where is the mess?" Stacie looked all around but couldn't find any evidence of the eggs hitting the house or any shells on the ground. "Oh well I'm not complaining. Now.... its time for good eating!" As she entered the house, she could swear she saw someone moving in the bushes, but she thought nothing of it.

Stacie quickly ate her meal while she watched some of her Dragon Ball Z tapes she bought in Japan. The time was soon approaching 11:00pm and Stacie was tired after a hard day at work. She decided to relax in the hot tub again before she went to bed. She grabbed her bathing suit from her closet and quickly jumped into the hot tub. "Man, this feels good," she thought. She looked out the window while she lay in the hot, bubbling waters to see the crater in the back of her yard. "Oh yea! I completely forgot about that. Hmm, its too late to look at it tonight, I'll just look tomorrow."

After about 20 minutes, she got out of the hot tub and walked upstairs to her bedroom to sit in the bay window which looked towards her work at the top of the hill. She saw a couple teens, most likely Heather and her friends, drinking and partying a couple of houses up, but Stacie also noticed a person standing across the street staring at her. "Eek!" she quickly shut the blinds, turned off the lights, and ran to her mom's bedroom to get changed. She decided to sleep in her mom's bedroom because it had a lock on the door, just incase the peeping tom happened to break into the house. She jumped into her mom's large bed, pulled the blankets up over her head, and immediately fell asleep.
