A Forbidden Past - Chapter 17
Goodbye

Stacie awoke in the front seat of the capsule car. She saw Heather was driving, and that Trunks was still unconcious in the back seat. "How long have I been out for?" Stacie asked.

"About 30 minutes. I moved you here first, and then I drove out into the field to pick Trunks up. I don't think I could of carried him that far, since he is a pretty big guy."

"Is he... alive?"

"Yea, he still had a pulse when I picked him up."

"Good. Once we get back to my house, I'll give him a Senzu bean. He should be as good as new afterwards."

"And then what?"

"What do you mean?" Stacie asked.

"Where will Trunks go?"

"Home......" Stacie said as she looked out the window.

"And what about you?"

"Me? I'm... staying.... I can't go back in time. What would my mom say? Yea mom, I'll never see you again. Where am I going? Oh just back in time a couple hundred years."

Heather laughed as she pulled into Stacie's driveway.

"Stay here with Trunks. I'll be right back," Stacie said as she sprinted into the house for the Senzu beans. Heather looked into the back seat, where Trunks was still unconcious. She sighed as she looked at the saiyajin.

"I don't know you as well as Stacie does, but I'm still going to miss you," she said as she wiped a tear away from her eye. Stacie returned to the car and opened the back door. She reached into the little bag and grabbed one of the beans.

"I hope this works," she said as she placed the bean into his mouth. Trunks eyes opened up as he looked at Stacie.

"Did...... did we get him?"

"Yes... its over." she said as she brushed the hair out of her face.

"Now, why couldn't I do that in my time?" Trunks sighed.

"Well, you still have to go back and change the past. Don't give up," Heather smiled.

"You're right. I hope my time machine is working now," he said as he sat up in the car. "Let's go find out!"

Stacie and Heather followed Trunks across the backyard towards his time machine. "I hope it doesn't work..." Stacie thought to herself. "It hasn't had enough time to recharge. It shouldn't work..." Stacie said, crossing her fingers. "But then again, he shouldn't even be here... so it may work..." They all stood on the edge of the crater and looked down at the time machine.

"Here goes nothing," Trunks said as he walked down the crater to the time machine. He opened it up and climbed inside.

"Stacie.. are you okay?" Heather asked as Stacie remained emotionless.

"I'm... fine..." she said as she continued to watch Trunks. With the push of a couple buttons, Trunks time machine started up. As soon as Stacie heard the noise, she started crying. Trunks turned off the time machine and headed out the crater with something in his hands.

"What's that?" Heather asked as Stacie rubbed her eyes.

"A camera... you have these in your time right?" he asked.

Stacie and Heather laughed. "Yes, we know what a camera is, silly," Stacie laughed.

"Well then, lets take a couple pictures before I go, to remember me by," he smiled. Trunks placed the camera on a small tri-pod, and set a timer. He ran between Stacie and Heather and wrapped his arms around both girls. "Smile!" he said as the camera took the picture.

"Heather, would you mind taking a picture of me and Trunks?" Stacie asked.

"Not at all," she said as she walked towards the camera. While Heather had her back turned, Stacie started to kiss Trunks on the lips. They only stopped when they saw a flash to their side.

"Got it!" Heather laughed as she held the camera. Both Trunks and Stacie started to turn red as they laughed.

"Well...... I guess this is... goodbye," Stacie said as she stood beside Trunks.

"I guess so," Trunks said as he put his hands on Stacie's hips.

Stacie had managed to control her emotions until this point when she burst out in tears. "I don't want you to go!" she cried as she buried her face in his chest.

"I know you don't, but I have to," he said as he hugged Stacie.

"Will you come and visit me again?"

"I'll try my best, but if not, you have the pictures to remember me by," he smiled as he gave Stacie the pictures. Trunks held Stacie's hand as he walked towards the time machine. "I'm going to miss you too, even though we started off on the wrong foot," he said as he hugged Heather.

Heather wiped a couple tears away from her eyes as she hugged Trunks. "I'm going to miss you too," she cried.

Trunks continued to walk towards the time machine, still holding Stacie's hand. "Goodbye..." he said as he let go, and went inside the time machine. He pressed several buttons and started up the time machine.

"Please.. come back to see me..." Stacie shouted. Trunks winked at Stacie as he flew high into the sky. Within 10 seconds, he was gone.

Stacie and Heather continued to look high into the sky, even though Trunks was gone. "Now what?" Heather asked.

"I'm not sure. I guess everything goes back to normal...." she trailed off as a flash of light filled the area, and both Heather and Stacie fell to the ground.
