More Dragonball GT Released in Time for Christmas!
As I predicted Madman Entertainment Australia has announced today that there will releases for Dragonball, Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT in Australia for November which would make them December releases for New Zealand. The planned releases are....
Dragonball Movie 4 The Path to Power
Dragonball Z Movies 1-3 Boxset (Deadzone, Worlds Strongest, Tree of Might)
Dragonball GT Volume 3 Baby - Creation
Dragonball GT Volume 4 Baby - Proliferation
All of the above will definitely be released on DVD but I'm not sure if the DBZ Movies 1-3 Boxset will be released on video but I'd say probably not. It should also be noted that the movies will not be any different from the ones already released but they'll just be in a boxset. The Dragonball Movie The Path to Power will be the first Dragonball release for NZ and Australia and as the first thirteen episodes of the show can't be released at the current time it is thought that this will be a lead in to the rest of the original Dragonball series beginning with episode 14 (Tournament saga). I would guess that the NZ release date would be December 19th based on other releases unless Manga decides to release it earlier to get in before Christmas.

Eliza Dushku to Play Chi Chi in DBZ Live Action Movie?
News has been quite scarce on the DBZ live action movie which was announced early last year and although no official information has been revealed at all a supposed "insider" named Mr Z has been revealing information about the cast and possible script. I'm choosing at the moment to believe this info but please note that it has not been confirmed. The latest news is that Eliza Dushku, who has had several roles including the character Faith in Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and in movies such as Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Bring it On, will be playing Chi Chi. I think Eliza would suit the Chi Chi role well. See Eliza's bio and filmography here and a picture of her here. It has also been revealed that Chi Chi's name won't be changed for the movie. If this new info is true then she will join the curerrent cast of Ray Park (Vegeta), Orlando Bloom (Tien), Jessica Alba (Bulma) and Jason Bateman (Raditz). Other new info is that the computer generated characters Oolong, Puar and King Kai will have the same voices as on the TV show. The DBZ live action movie will hopefully be released in early 2005

Beckett Dragonball Z Collector #33
Before I get started on my review of the new Beckett DBZ Collector I'd like to take note of the fact that Dragonball is at its lowest ever spot on the Lycos Top 50 at #13. Being on the elite list for the longest ever time (over 200 weeks) it seems that searches for Dragonball (including searches for DBZ and DBGT) are starting to lose steam which is inevitable as nothing lasts forever.
Delaying the review as bit longer heres links where you can see pics of the first two GT videos as they will be in New Zealand. Click to see the covers of
Affliction and Incubation. You'll notice the volumes are numbered which is kinda stupid as these aren't the first two volumes in the series (which are coming out later). Its a long story....
Anway its review time. This issue of Beckett Dragonball Z issue is the 33rd of the monthly magazines to come out and has a cover date of August. This issue has a main fopcus on Vegeta and includes Vegeta's family trees (with bios on each member such as Trunks, Bulma and King Vegeta), a review of Vegeta's new look in Dragonball GT and a Vegeta art gallery. Ths issue also takes a look at Saiyan website on the internet, has a review of DBGT volumes 3 and 4 (Creation and Proliferation), a pictorial guide for the Saiyan saga of DBZ and a Dragonball GT Character Guide , Quite a good issue in all but the most dissapointing feature is the Buu Saga Cards as it only has some of the cards listed and this is the third magazine featuring an incomplete collection of the cards. This issue gets an 3 out of 5.

Dragonball Z Sliders, King Piccolo Saga Boxset
Hey everyone sorry for the no update yesterday but I was rather busy (not that I wasn't today) I finally managed to get my hands on the Dragonball Z Sliders from Burger King and decider to go with the cheaper option of just buying them all separately at one time (at $2 each thats a total of $8). The four avaliable are SSJ3 Goku, SSJ Teen Gohan in Kai Outfit, Kibito and Evil Buu. I have to say that they are about the size I'd asuumed they'd be but they don't slide very well...
I went to pick up my Frieza Saga Boxset Part Two but they unfortunately didn't have it as it has been delayed but they revealed to me that they had been to the Armageddon in Wellington and had brought back three Dragonball King Piccolo Saga Boxset Part One DVDs and could sell me one. At $50 for ten episodes and the fact the set hasn't offically been relased here (and won't be for a long while yet) was an offer I couldn't refuse so as soon as I finish writing this update thats what I'll watch. Mega thanks to Vagabond Games in Takapuna, Auckland. Vagabond also told me they were getting in GT next week!!! (as opposed to October 17th which is the release date).
Tommorow: I also picked up my new issue of Beckett Dragonball Z Collector today which is dedicated to Vegeta this month so I'll have a review of that!

Wellington Armageddon in Review
I know what your'e thinking! How can I do a review of the Wellington Armageddon when I didn't even go! Well the answer is quite simple. A couple of days ago I asked you all if you had any Armageddon info and someone actually emailed me! Matthew Stone emailed with some Armageddon info and heres what he said....
"
Hey I live in Auckland but I went down to Wellington to go to Armageddon on Saturday 20th September.  There was some pretty good stuff there, like they were selling Dragonball GT eps Baby - Affliction and Baby - Incubation as well as the latest DBZ Movie # 8 Broly The Legendary Super Saiyan. Also they were selling Dragonball King Piccolo saga parts 1 & 2 and Piccolo Jr. Saga Parts 1 & 2 imported from America and selling for $50 each which is really good because each one contains 15 episodes on 2 discs.  Sadly I ran out of money before being able to buy a Dragonball DVD but I did manage to buy DBZ Movie # 8.  I have to say Broly is a very cool movie. At Armageddon they were showing the DragonBall GT DVD Baby - Preparation which isn't out in NZ yet. Well that's all  - Matt Stone"
Wow...I really didn't know they would be selling GT and DBZ Movie 8 there!!! Not to mention that but they were actually selling episodes of Dragonball!!!! And they were showing the third GT DVD!!!!! Damn it I really wish I had gone now but I suppose its to late for that. Mega thanks to Matt for this news and also for the pic he sent me of his cover of
Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan personally autographed by Chris Sabat which you can see by clicking here. GT and Movie 8 are scheduled for a October 17 NZ release while the Preparation and Piccolo boxsets have not been scheduled for a release yet.
As I mentioned briefly yesterday it is possible to get a Dragonball Z mobile phone. The Nokia 8250 costs $250 and looks normal with its features including changeable covers, predictive text and vibrating alert. To turn it into a DBZ phone you'll need to buy a cover which costs an additional $45. This phone is on the Vodafone network. The cover is of Super Saiyan Goku. I'm not going to get the phone as I have my eye on the superior Sharp GX20 but if you want to then you can.
Tommorow: If all goes to plan then I'll finally get a Dragonball Z Slider assuming of course that my Frieza Saga Boxset Part Two finally comes in......

Wellington Armageddon Day Two
Hope all you Wellingtonians who attended the Armageddon in your city today really enjoyed it (sadly I couldn't attend due to the great cost - it would of cost me about $500+ to go and thats before I buy anything while I'm there!). I really envy you guys for having such a great expo. Today was the Kamehameha contest which, if it was anything like the Auckland one, was awesome plus not only that but after it screened the fourth Dragonball Movie , The Path to Power was has not seen release in New Zealand or Australia! (Australian release is November, NZ is December).
Before I get into whats happening on Day Two (Sunday) I'd like to say that the
DBZGT Legacy has really turned to crap since their staff all left to go to Kiji Anime and they were replaced with new staff members and they can't even get their facts right seeing as how they said the expo was being held at the Micheal Gowler Centre when its at the Michael Fowler Centre. For shame....

DBZ Budokai 2 Latest News & NZ Release Date!!!
As I was finishing yesterdays update I discovered the New Zealand release date for Dragonball Z Budokai 2 on PS2. Although the game is currently set for a December 9th USA release the NZ release has been revealed to be November 18th although I should note that the NZ release of the first Budokai was also before the USA by a week and we ended up getting it the same day as them so don't expect too much.
As well as the release date I discovered some other info including the fact that Budokai 1 characters Dodoria, Zarbon, Kid Gohan and Android 19 will not be in Budokai 2 (although the rest of the Budokai 1 characters will be). Already known new Budokai 2 characters are Adult Gohan, Videl, Goten, Kid Trunks, Supreme Kai, Android 20, Dabura, Fat Buu, Super Buu and Kid Buu but recently announced are three additions to that list - Gotenks, Vegito and Gocule (a fusion of Goku and Hercule) plus to more unknown characters (I personally hope that one of those is Pikkon).
My number one personal hope above al else tis that they include the voices from the American TV show rather than the crappy Japanese ones. For Budokai 1 America got the voices from the show (and they will be for Budokai 2 as well) while NZ and Australia got the Japnese voices so I hope that we will get the English voices. If anyone involved with the making of the game reads this then PLEASE have the voices from the show in the game! Its also not currently known whether we will get the same cover as the USA's as for Budokai 1 the covers were different. Check out
this page for a large amount of downloadable Budokai 2 video clips. Thanks to DBZonPS2.com and the GP Store for this Budokai 2 news!
And now to release news where the Frieza Saga Boxset Part Two will be released tommorow in New Zealand and when it is it will mean that every DBZ episode will then be availiable on DVD here so heres a little preview of the boxset....

A Minor Correction...
Not long after I wrote yesterdays update did I then see the DBZ Burger King ad and noticed that unlike what I previous wrote Burger King is giving away Dragonball Z Sliders and not "rollers" although that doesn't mean I can now explain what the hell they are. On Friday I'll go to Burger King and go and buy one as hopefully I'll just be able to buy the sliders without getting any food but if I have to get the food then I will.
I suppose your'e wondering what going on with the DVD Guide? Well like I've said before its a BIG section exploring in great detail the Region 4 (NZ and Australia) DBZ DVD releases

DBZ Returns to Burger King!
Hi everyone! I know I said that I would so a review of Beckett Best of Dragonball Z #11 three days ago I obviously didn't but I will do it today instead but first we have some news!
As is currently being advertised on New Zealand television it seems that Dragonball Z has returned to Burger King! Last year Burger King was giving away DBZ Hacky sacks with their kids meals and now they have Dragonball Z Rollers. Admittedly I'm not exactly sure what these are but they appear to be models of the characters head and shoulders which can roll around. There are four characters to collect - Super Saiyan 3 Goku, Super Saiyan Teen Gohan, Evil Buu and Kibito. I'm going to get one and when I do I'll tell you more about what the heck it is!
Mai Time DBZ Fan in Next Weeks TV Guide
A few weeks ago I mentioned the Dragonball Z fan on the NZ TV show, Mai Time named Patara Berryman who said in the Womans Day TV Guide that "..Goku is the man" and listed DBZ as one of his favourite shows. Well now Patara's favourite shows have also been listed in next weeks TV Guide along with CSI and X-Men so if you missed the DBZ mention before you can still see it.
Wellington Armageddon This Friday!
Just a reminder to all of you who live in Wellington that you definitely shouldn't miss the Armageddon Pulp Culture Expo which begins this Saturday and continues until Monday. Of notable mention is that Chris Sabat (voice of Vegeta, Yamcha, Piccolo and others) will be signing autographs there and that you will be able top see the NZ premieres of DBZ Movie 8 "Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan", Dragonball Movie 4 "The Path to Power" and three episodes of English Dragonball GT!!! Sadly I won''t be going but for anyone that does feel free to email me with what you did at [email protected]. As I did with the Auckland expo I'll be posting the DBZ stuff happening each day on the site.
Beckett Best of Dragonball Z #11 Review
This eleventh issue of the
Best of Dragonball Z #11 is strangely cheaper than the previous ones at $25.50 compared to the usual $27.95 and it is well worth the price. While the monthly issues are in the traditional magzine style format The Best of issues are in a soft cover book style with 90 pages compared to the monthly issues of 70. This one is primarily focussed on Majin Buu and as with the other Best of issues this one has an awesome cover. Anyway like i said this one features a tonne of info on Buu includinga Buu timeline, his friends, his race, his signature moves as well as a detailed guide to his appearence in DBZ and DBGT. It also has images of the Buu saga CCG cards numbers 1-135 of 200. One of my favorutrite sections in this issue is the DBZ What Ifs which exploreas what would happen if Buu absorbed certain people and it has some hillarious pics including Sponge Buu Square Pants, Scooby Buu, Elvis Buu, George W Buu (!) and my personal favourite, Disco Buu. Also in this issue is a Buu Art Gallery, Buu poster, How 2 Draw Fat Buu, Characters Deaths in DBZ,  Complete English DBZ Episode List, A Pictorial Guide for the whole Of DBZ and much, much more. I give this issue an 9 out of 10!!!!

DBGT and Movie 8 Info Mania!
With the release of the first two highly anticpated Dragonball GT volumes and the most anticipated DBZ movie, Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan in Australia a couple of days
ago and it being another month before they are all released here I thought it would be a good time to give you all a teaser of whats coming!
Firstly Dragonball GT. There are two Dragonball GT releases for the first month titled
Baby - Affliction and Baby - Incubation. Affliction has four episodes including the english only "A Grand Problem" as well as "Pan's Gambit", "Unexpected Power" and "A General Uprising" while Incubation has three episodes "The Source of Rilldo's Power", "A Secret Revealed" and "The Baby Sceret". Both releases contain Character Profiles, Trailers and the Original Japanese version with English subtitles. See the cover for Affliction here and Incubation here.
Now to the eighth Dragonball Z movie
Broly - The Legndary Super Saiyan which is the longest Dragonball Z movie and is popular with fans because it contains a Saiyan not seen in the TV series who is not just any Saiyan but is the Legendary Super Saiyan himself! The Broly DVD contains some good special features because as wella s the usual Character Profiles and Trailers it also contains the Uncut Japanese version with english subitltes as well as a bonus featurette on the making of the Gameboy Advance game, The Legacy of Goku 2. See the cover of the movie by clicking here
Both Dragonball GT releases and the Broly movie will be released in New Zealand on October 17th and not long before their releases I'll have a more indepth preview for you all!
Tommorow: My review of the Beckett Best of Dragonball Z #11 which contains a large amount on Majin Buu as well as Scooby Buu and Disco Buu! Find out what the heck I'm talking about tommorow!

DBGT Comes to Region 4, DBZ Budokai 2 Trailer
For those of you who don't know, the first two volumes Dragonball GT were released in Australia today as well as the eighth Dragonball Z movie, Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan so for those of you who really can't wait for these to be released here (NZ release date is October 17th) then now would be the time to either order them online or get your overseas relatives to send you a copy of each. I'm going to be patient and wait for them to be released here.
In other news the
Dragonball Menace site now has three trailers for the Dragonball Z Budokai 2 game for PS2. I downloaded the first one which is just some footage from the game showing a fight between Super Buu and Goku. The most amazing thing for me was hearing the English voices especially the grunting and the "Kamehameha"  which I just knew was Sean Schemmel but  in NZ and Australia we will sadly have the Japanese voices...Anyway to get to the videos just click on the link above...

Dress DBZ!
The Z Store which is the official online store for DB/Z/GT now has some costumes for sale at their shop where you can dress as either Goku, Vegeta and Frieza. Honestly these costumes are terrible looking escpecially for the cost. So here's pics and prices for them all
Frieza - US $24.95 (NZ $44)
Goku - US $26.50 (NZ $47)
Vegeta - US $28.50 (NZ $50)
As you can see they look totally terrible. While the Frieza one is bareable (I guess) but Goku and Vegeta are just apalling and thats proabably because they come with Goku and Vegeta shaped hair which just looks stupid. As well as the DBZ costumes you can also get Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costumes (Raphael, Leornardo, Donatello and Michaelangelo) and a Yugi (from Yu-Gi-Oh!) costume which costs NZ $48. You can order them at at the Z Store (who do ship to New Zealand) if you really want them but I won't be getting them..obviously...

Dragonball GT NZ/Australia Boxart
There was hope that with a lot of people not liking the coverart for Dragobnball GT that it would be changed for the NZ and Australia release but it has been revealed that the boxart will be exactly the same as for the USA release which you can see by clicking
here. Madman revealed the reason for this was due to the fact Funimation did not allow them to create their own boxart and they had no choice. In a related note you can read Madman Australia's September newsletter here but remember that these will be released in New Zealand in October.
DBZ Budokai 2 Info
On the
Official DBZ Site they have revealed a lot of new info on Dragonball Z Budokai 2 as part of their new DBZ games section including the cover which may or may not be the one in New Zealand (as the cover for Budokai 1 was changed). Just remember that the voices till proabbly won't be in English but we can always hope the Funimation will actually give a crap about the NZ and Asutralian DBZ fans for a change.
Legacy of Goku 2 A Success
Funimation and Atari have thanked the fans fot the success of The Legacy of Goku 2 for Gameboy Advance with the following message
"Thank you to the fans for making DBZ: The Legacy of Goku II the number-one-best-selling Game Boy Advanced game for the month of July. This goes to show that Dragon Ball Z fans are the best in the World. From everybody at FUNimation Productions and Atari, Thank You. Look for other great DBZ video game coming soon including DBZ Budokai on Game Cube, DBZ Taiketsu on Game Boy Advanced, and the long awaited sequel, Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2 on PlayStation 2."
